Official Conor McGregor thread (part 2). Read warning in 1st post

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 2.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.
Any name-calling, trolling, baiting, or being a general ass-hat will earn you a ban from the thread and possibly the forum.
If you have an issue with a post, please use the report post function. Any off topic posts will be deleted.
Any "Do you even train Bro?" or "I'm an mma fan longer than you" type posts are not permitted either. They only make you look like a fool and as a result, everyone hates you. Yes everyone.

FFS lads...of course Conor would slate someone in his position right now.. that's the sthick.

Also the UFC have made millions off the backs of fighters with very few guys making 'retirement money'.

I hope this gets resolved sooner than later but this was bound to happen with a gsp,silva,chuck type fighter.

In boxing we have far too many organisations but mma is a great example of why we need more than one

Seems the same to me. Given the options of promoting the fight and then fighting or not promoting it and not fighting he chose not to fight.

RDA's injury was widely reported in mma circles, with photographs and all. He is a great fighter too by the way if you are looking for other fighters to follow, great grappling and striking with beastly cardio.

I'm more than familiar with Dos Anjos, just didn't bother looking up the exact diagnosis of his injury. Once he was out, and Diaz was in, that was it.

Okay, so he broke his foot. So what. Even if his foot fell off, how would pointing that out negate the point which that was trying to make which was that Conor saved the 196 card at short notice and deserves some leeway on that basis. Someone has your back in this world, you should try and have theirs. Remember, Conor didn't chase Nate, Nate chased him and Conor granted him the fight on 11 days notice, to save that UFC card. He could have said 'Naff the Irish fans that have traveled, there's a good chance that Nate could beat me here' and went home but he didn't.

I swear Conor is the anti-Christ to some of you. I wouldn't mind if there was something tangible to back it up with.

I feel that CM overreached a bit on this one. Coming out of a defeat and still thinking he has some influence on who/where/when, the chap has been put back in his box. I hope he learns from this experience and wish him well in the future.

Goin round in circles, now we are discussing what constitutes a fact, McGregor says his refusal to do promo is entirely down to it adversely affecting his training, I don't believe that's the real reason, and that's one person saying something not a fact.

I think the largest part of it was the legitimate arguments he put forward, that's how he feels about it. He's not alone in that because you had plenty of fighters supporting him on it. I believe a victory for Conor here would be a victory for UFC fighters overall. It might not get them out of promo duties going forward but it certainly would strengthen their positioning at the bargaining table.

I definitely think part of it was Conor testing his boundaries too though. He's the golden goose and he clearly wants to milk that for all its worth which is fine. Most organisations operate under a meritocracy rather than strict equality anyway.

It's still in the offing how this one is gonna go, although personally I think the 200 replacement has already been sorted, but I don't think the main event of 200 alone will determine whether Conor has won here. If buyrates aren't what they might have been that certainly strengthens Conor's negotiating position going forward. As I've said a few times this will be a situation that will be judged much better in hindsight.

The thing is though, it's not the biggest UFC card of all time. It was supposed to be, but it's in real need of some big additions now. For a showcase event, I'll be wanting to see Jon Jones, Khabib, Dos Anjos, Lawler. Right now it's a bit sh*t IMO and I don't know how much they were planning to enhance it prior to this blowing up.
