Last year I spent ages and ages reading all the threads before picking my team. I got off to a terrible start. This year throwing my team together almost last minute. Any comments, suggestions. No money in the bank is a big worry for a start.

I don't know what to think about Kane. Personally, if I was sure Benteke would start I'd pick him. The focus is on how poor Liverpools away fixtures are but their home games are tasty. That's a judgement call though so I can't fault your Kane pick.

Yeah it's a tricky one re Walcott. If I could be sure Giroud would start I'd probably go Mane and Giroud instead of Walcott and Kane. There's a nagging voice in my head saying go with Ramsey too instead of Walcott!

I know you have Pelle up top but concerned about the EL effect on them giving that they are playing this evening and again at 1.30 on Sunday. That same concern effects my decision re Mane/Giroud too.

Too many decisions!

Now that I have your attention here is my latest draft, not final but set up fairly much how I want it with a tweak or 2 to be made

Goalkeepers:
Ruddy is 2nd in command to Mickey T, who'll be giving his orders from the stands it would seem. Probably the safest way into their defence with Olsson not fit yet. Bassong was there but doubts hang over Whittaker/Martin/Wisdom and maybe Bassong.
McCarthy seems like starting the season and is 4.0. I wouldn't be surprised if Speroni had problems reclaiming his spot and a price rise could be on the cards and low enough ownership. Plus a 3rd Norwich spot is more valuable than Rudd.

Defenders:
- Sunderland have a good set of fixtures and PVA is a great captaincy option and assured of his spot. Worth the extra 0.5 at the start.
- Cedric is the same, I had a gut feeling for him so in he goes.
- Huth and Mings do their job as cheap 4.5's that should play.
- Why only mention Kos as my 5th mid you say? Well I'm sure some have copped already that he's my Aguero release fund in -4 along with Costa (I'll get to this and it's far from final for very obvious Costa related reasons)

Midfielders:
- Walcott. Legend. Ramsey could get this spot yet though
- Sterling is somebody who probably has a point to prove and looks like playing very advanced for City. At 9.0 it could be a bargain and more explosive than my dear friend Silva. While Yaya well yeah...
- Fabregas. It would be foolish not to have a Chelsea player for the first day against Swansea and for reasons outlined he tends to start well, doesn't break the bank and on certain set-pieces etc. Hazard clearly the superior option but 2.5 is a lot of moolah right at the start
- Johnson could be Brady/Redmond/Wessi/Howson. I need a Norwich mid at the start due to fixtures and my bizarre relationship with their fantasy assets
- Fletcher taking over :cool:

Forwards:
- Rooney. A secure option into Man Utd attack and should be playing up front
- Costa. Now I don't know. He's part of my Aguero Release Fund (ARF) with Kos which comprises of 17.0 of premium points. Any other ways of making this work would be welcome. Possibly throwing Johnson/5.5 Norwich Mid into the mix, reluctantly.
- Pelle. Not totally sold but think he's gone very much under the radar and I never associated him with the BUIB/Mr Hyde to my smoldering Italian Hunk/Dr. Jeykll. He returned to his goal scoring way late last year too.

A few teething issues revolving around my ARF but otherwise relatively happy I think. No strong home captaincy option in GW2 is a minor concern too, apart from PVA

Nice midfield,as you said there is a good chance that Sterling and Walcott will play up front.

That's why the plan which I outlined involves ditching him for Aguero as soon as he was fit and is basically there as a decent premium option rather than having the cash sitting in the bank and not needing to use a WC or more than -4 in hits.

ok so based on Costa and Silva now both being doubt i've done a final re-jig and hopefully i'm close to finalising this!

Only questions i still have are over Mané and Zaha. I'd actually be happy with Mané but i've zero in the bank with this team and i'm not overly happy about having Zaha as someone i'll pretty much be starting every week so do people reckon its better to downgrade

Mané for say Sigurdsson and Zaha for Puncheon/Walters

or even

Mané for Chadli (and double up on Spurs) and Zaha for Cabaye

or just leave it as is to begin?

You're scaring me a bit re the Norwich defenders. Surely Basson / Martin 95% safe!?

No issue with your defence, but not sure on the Kos>Aguero plan as I'll come to later.

Maybe look to get Silva in for City? I'd be weary of Walcott too. Will he play 90mins week in, week out? And where will he play? I bottled it and dropped him for Ramsey myself.

I don't know how happy I am facing into the weekend now with benteke as part of a 352 ........was tempted to even go with lukaku for one week only but not taking that chance......could give pelle a week I suppose but would end up transferring benteke in the following week most likely.......

I would be playing a 3-5-2

Goalkeepers :: Leicester only really have 3 tough games in their first 13 games. Arsenal, Spurs and Southampton. The rest are all games that could/would expect to get a clean sheet out of and Schmeichel/Schwarzer gives cover in that respect.

Defenders :: Probably a little bit light in my team. Azpili,PVA,Wasili to be the regulars. Is Wasili still a starter at Leicester ? Surely with Morgan down as doubtful he will be to start anyways. STaylor and Micky T as bench fodder. I could change Mickey T, but he's just there for first draft glory

Midfielders :: Midfielder heavy. Having both Fab and Haz early last season did no harm whatsoever. I would bank on Ozil being a guaranteed in Arsenal's team. Depay could be awesome.... And Henderbus on penos, set pieces and will surely be given the opportunity to fully expand on the Stevie G role now that Stevie is gone.

Forwards :: Benteke off to a scoring start already. Kane a guaranteed starter. Lafferty is more bench fodder. Anyone got a good suggestion for a back up there ?

1.0 in the bank should I need to make changes elsewhere after the first game or if anyone has any more pressing suggestions for defense. Bellerin/Mertesacker instead of Wasili is one I was thinking of.

I'm not 100% on having that Norwich mid from the off and a week or 2 might actually give clarity to which one I want. It just feels wrong not having one from the start due to the fact it's me :pac:

I'll crunch the numbers later when I'm at a computer to see what I can afford. I want at least 1 differential though however I can work it.

Also I was struggling with who to pick for that 5th mid spot and thought it would be much clearer in a week or 2 while Kos offers potential in nice fixtures but it's the kind of advice I was looking for so cheers

Bassong is probably nailed and if Martin wasn't captain he'd be less secure. It depends on whether Neil sees Wisdom as an RB or a CB. Turner it pains me to say may not see any gametime or even be at the club come September I fear

Another CB and Striker arriving would not surprise me.

Also Palace's pace could do a job on that defence as has been an issue in preseason. Just feel it needs to be thrown out their to muddle minds even more.

Head melted. Need to back away from the computer. Have been keeping money in the bank to upgrade Rooney to Aguero but a comment on this thread about put your money on the pitch not in the bank (or words to that effect) made me rethink. I've used the money to upgrade the defence.

Here's where I'm at now.

Courtois / McCarthy 9.5m
Courtois to start every week and cheapest way into Chelsea defence. Also looked at Mig / Ruddy or Panti / Krul for same price and good rotation but then no Chelsea defence and potential selection remorse every weekend.

Cedric / Bellerin / Huth / Staylor / Mings 23.5m
Not a lot to say here other than could downgrade Cedric and Bellerin to 4.5 players and keep some dosh for the Aguero fund. Picked Huth over O'Shea but really it's the toss of a coin.

Midfield. Here's where the money goes.
Sterling / Walcott / Hazard / Milner / Ritchie 42.5m
Sterling cheaper than Silva and likely to benefit from playing alongside. Still debating Hazard to Fabregas. Walcott is a no-brainer. Reckon he's guaranteed to start. Think Milner's due a great season. Ritchie over Redmond. Either would be a punt but Villa defence is a shambles. Hoping for early price rise from Ritchie.

Attack.
Rooney / Benteke / Deeney 24.5m
Tempted to find 1m from somewhere and upgrade Benteke to Kane but not convinced it is an upgrade.

Feels like a wait and see team. Very much pre-wildcard.

Your bench is going to be very light with two 4m defenders that don't play and Lafferty. I would downgrade PVA to Coates and upgrade Turner to a playing 4.5m. Huth is also better than Wasi if you want to risk doubling on Leicester defence

i think you could re-jig things to have another big name attacker or two, Kane and Hazard being the only you currently have that performed well last season (maybe you could include Pelle in that). maybe downgrade Baines? you've got alot of funds tied up in defense and Baines is no longer on pens and i wouldn't be too confident of Everton defensively, especially with Chelsea's pursuit of John Stones hanging over the club

Quite happy with this team, leaves me room to manoeuver to free up funds to improve areas reasonably easy and should be pulling in a few points in the first 3 weeks before I consider wildcarding to take advantage of the surprise packages in the more unknown teams.
