Worst season by a distance. Badly paced and lacking in any real tension. For a season where so many characters were killed off there was little to none of them that were even close to scenes like the red wedding. I think at this stage the fact that characters get killed off so readily has hurt the show. As soon as something looks likely you know that's it. There's no saving of characters in real danger and so after a while the deaths start to lose their impact.

Jon Snows death tonight had me initially go "oh f**k I didn't see that coming.", swiftly followed by a "ah well, so there's another character gone. Next.". There was feck all emotional fall out from it.

Jon Snow isn't actually dead. You can tell from the way it's written in the book.

1. It belongs to a good series of films: The Mad Max films always were interesting and intelligent, telling a story of the last days of the world as we know it (first one) and the early days of the emerging post apocalypse societies (films 2-4). Other revisits belonged to series that were less strong.
2. It was a set of films that always has more stories to tell. Mad Max is a much more complex and interesting character than say Police Academy's Mahoney, John Rambo or Rocky Bilbao for example.
3. It avoids all the rightwing/pro-American macho man one man army type action films of other 1980s rooted heroes such as Rambo. There is in such films only good and bad whereas Mad Max has given us characters who are often a mix of good and bad.
4. The same director was in charge and knew what he was doing.
5. All the lead actors especially Charlize, Tom, Hugh, the guy who played Nux, etc. were excellent and well cast.

Ha, I actually was more upset when the viper died, I don't know why! Snow was always very vulnerable there

This is my theory based on having read the books:

Jon gets resurrected by Melisandre and because he died is released from his Nights Watch vows. He gets an army (probably the wildlings) and takes back Winterfell.

With Brienne on the outskirts of Winterfell, unless I've gotten the characters well and truly confused. Isn't he her squire now?

He hasn't been seen in the show since Ser Davos set him off in the boat for Kings landing

Nope that's Pod, he was Tyrions squire and saved him at the battle of blackwater

They do look similar but, as others have said, different character. He was sent off by Davos when Stannis wanted him killed. We're going back to around season 2 here so not sure we need spoilers!

I'm sure he has a significant role to play at some point. The fact is that he's the only one that has a strong claim to the throne aside from Daenerys (and I'm so hoping a dragon gets bored and takes her head off).

But I don't get what the big issue is? In a world where it's apparently 'white dominated' then a white person assuming the role of a black person whilst petitioning for racial equality is surely a bit of a martyr and quite brave?

That's my rough understanding of it, obviously these things are viewed very differently across the pond.

There is no requirement for a person in her role to actually be black so it's not like it was necessary.

It does pose some interesting questions about self-identifying etc.

In principle, there is nothing wrong with it. In reality, we all know that the NAACP would never have appointed her to her role nor would the members have approved of her being involved as an official if they were aware of her background. The reason this has blown up isn't the fact that she's white. It's that she pretended to be black and clearly amended her appearance to make her seem black. If she had simply joined the organisation as a white person and worked her way up to her role, it wouldn't have been any issue at all. It also never would have happened.

I don't see her as brave, I see her as having some identity issues that she needs to deal with. It's not like she grew up thinking she was black. She sued a college before for discriminating against her for being white.

Obviously it should be a case of the best candidate should be in that role but we all know that's not the world we live in. She misrepresented herself and lied to get into the role.

I don't think it's a matter of it being across the pond. The National Women's Council of Ireland doesn't have a single male on their committee and I doubt people would expect there to be any.

The Rachel Dolezal story is my favourite story of the year. Of course she has mental issues but it's absolutely hilarious at the same time. I can't believe she effectively black faced up.

I think you'll find on closer examination that race is determined at an earlier stage than gender and has somewhat less room for biological error.

She "blacked up", claimed to be black (after trying to sue a university for discriminating against her for being white) and claimed a black man she was pictured with was her father when he wasn't.

There is absolutely no issue with a white person working for the NAACP or anything like that. There is an issue with having someone who is either a compulsive liar or mentally ill as a face of your organisation.

Personally I just want to know what Liam Williams makes of all of this after the abuse he got for his Halloween costume! :pac:
