after the ice, comes the fire. too bad for the princess, but the dragon show was magnificent. i think the dragon got teleported in a burst of fire when danaerys simply thought about it, creatures of magic. but not having impervious skin as those spears stuck to its target.

Poor enough attempt by Drogon tbh, I really thought he was a gonner there for a minute. After 5 seasons learning about how dragons conquer all, it would have been the ultimate let down.

Stannis and Shireen! Bloody hell, what a dick. Think he may have lost a few of his men after that! Be interesting to see what happens when Davos discovers whats happened.

So looks like Dany can actually exert some influence over her Drogon, but fling enough spears at them, and are they going to be slowed? And will Rhaegal and Viserion do the same, considering they were locked up?
And how long before Jorah's illness becomes contagious? Was the taking of his hand by Daenerys a symbolic reacceptance/forgiveness thing, or is she at risk now?

A girls story drags, but it least there was a bit of movement last night with the arrival of Trant.....

If anything, was suspiciously like Daario's Plan of "gather all the master's and slaughter them" that played out

Holy sh*t that was intense. I was not expecting the Harpy uprising like that. When they were surrounded in the middle it was really nerve-racking. Looks like Jorah is back in the good books again anyway. I wonder what's going to happen to Tyrion and the gang now. And has the queen fecked off altogether to hide or will she be back at the palace? I thought they would have had a lot more soldiers, it's all slipping away from them in Mereen.

As for Shireen, that was just absolutely horrible to watch. That was one of the worst things I've seen on this most f*cked-up of shows. I hope there was good reason for it.

Could be on to something there. They made a real point of showing the contrast between both characters then we pretty much see that Hizdar wasn't who we thought he was. Could we find out the same about Daario?

Also, Dany should have greyscale now shouldn't she? (After holding Jorahs hand)

It was awful. We have had mega-slaughter horrors like the Red Wedding and the Wildling v White Walker carnage last week but the spectacle of Shireen being marched to the stake and burnt and her pitiful cries to her dad, fooook me!!!

May be wrong but I thought it was implied that it's only infectious once you become a full-on stoneman?

Writing and acting was poor in that episode imo.

Nothing was shown of Ramsey and his attackers, simultaneously lighting fires all at once and nobody seeing them felt lazy. Although they were attacked, Stannis deciding to sacrifice his daughter out of the blue just seemed misplaced without any build up and Davos just riding off into the sunset, or the talking in Dorne to Jaime with Bronn getting a smack on his head felt really poorly done. Haven't warmed to the Dorne stuff at all. Hand slapping each other in prison, so badass! I'm convinced.

Another thing that irked me was the scene with the young girl in the brothel. We already had a Sansa rape scene this season. I got it, Arya doesn't like Meryn Trant because he killed the swordman who trained her and was a robot for Joffrey. It just felt like she was aimlessly following him around then ended it with a shock scene which wasn't needed.

Olly's screen time involves him giving Jon Snow a dirty look, it must be the 3rd or 4th time this has happened. Tyrion looks unconvincing in this new role so far and it would be a shame for his cunning and devious ways to be reduced to something flat.

Hate to say it but I don't rate Emilia Clarke as an actress, she has the same expression on her face as posted in that gif above whenever anything comes up, that or a blank expression. The final scene was poorly done too I thought and the CGI bad. They seemed totally outnumbered, I know the Dragon killed men but it just didn't work for me at all. Her riding off and leaving the comrades behind didn't feel right either.

I thought the last episode was excellent but season 5 has easily been the worst so far imho. Would rate this episode a 5

I didn't feel that what Ramsey was up to needed to be shown, they hit them unawares, which is exactly what we got. I also didn't think the sacrifice was out of the blue, we know he had agonised over it, but then his hand was forced. Davos knew what was going to happen when he was sent away, which was why he went out of his way to see Shireen before he left. I actually thought at that point he was going to try to take off with her.

Maybe GoT has numbed me, but I didn't view that as a shock scene. My assumption is that scene is leading to how Arya will get her man, but hey...maybe they just put it in for the shock factor.

Good episode, not particularly great though. This season in comparison to the previous 4 has been a major letdown bar the last episode, which funnily enough was probably the best episode of the entire series.

I'm thinking they have quite a bit to grow, and also perhaps their scales harden eventually? I think this is just to show that he's becoming ready/old enough to fight, but isn't a total war machine just yet.

I suppose it would be a little too much for them to be a complete "game over" straight off the bat. Still a few seasons to go yet!

Terrible episode up until Sir Friend zone threw the spear towards the royal box. Another tedious battle scene transpires from there, similar to last week's ending, though more cleverly done, and with a dragon instead of a giant.

Serious decline in quality this season unfortunately. Last week's episode wasn't much better, though most were too enamoured with the wildlings scene at the end to care.

At least the finale can't be much worse than the episodes thus far.
