More than likely any place will have to order in tyres in your size, for the staggered set up in the E39. Tyres were very pricey for mine when I had it...so I just didn't put them on....:pac:

Seriously though, I have the GoodYears on mine, superb grip but I have a feeling they won't last long at all. I'm perfectly fine with that though.

If you want some kind of longevity Id be looking for something a bit more mid range if you get me?

Got my intake boot today, will hopefully install it tomorrow and then the car should be mechanically perfect.

What's not perfect though is the key, I think the battery has finally given up, €180 for a new one cut and coded to the car from BMW.

Yeah, I'm looking at Hankook Ventus Evo at the moment, I have one currently on the car :pac:

Mines the same the last few months. The battery on them is supposed to be charged from the ignition as the unit is sealed.

It might just need to be reprogrammed though and there's a guide to do it if you Google it. Didn't work for me though.

Yeah for the last few days my remote open/lock has been a bit dodgy, today it's just given up. I'll be trying the reprogramming alright but I could do with a new key anyway as bar the current one all I have is the non remote one with the light.

It's possible to replace the battery in those keys but the original one is soldered and you'll have to do the same with the new one.

It is but tbh, getting a while new one would be better as I could then just use my current one as a backup.

Think theres a sort of hinged lever/clip that you pull out and the plug releases. When you put it back on you push it in and it pulls the plug together.

Why are you taking that out?

The chip in the key can fail also, which will cause no starts. The symptoms are different for battery, and chip failure. With the chip in the key failing, you will still be able to remotely open the case, but the car wont start with the key, as it wont talk to the immobiliser. That's what has happened to one of mine...sucks!

Thanks. I was thinking of trying to take the belt off and clean it, and maybe try tighten the spring a bit, as it's a bit slow to retract.

Dirty seat belts are disgusting. My Corolla's belts were horribly grimy when I got it, I don't think they were ever cleaned.

Yeah I suppose it's one of the things most handled in a car. And according to youtube it gets less pliable when dirty and can cause it to not retract as well.

You don't tighten the spring. Clean the belt with silicone spray.

I had hankook ventus prime on my astra and they were only ok tbh. No doubt a great tyre compared to anything chinese but anything goodyear or bridgestone is far superior in my opinion. That astra was 1.3 cdti so didn't exactly have a lot of power to put on the road

90% of F1 grip and wear very well (Had a set on ST for almost 14 months now and is afew months left in them yet)

but yeah probably skip the tightening the spring step as I don't think a flat spring should lose any of its energy regardless of it's age.

What do you exactly do for this. Do you just pull the belt out all the way and spray some silicon spray on the first part of it and that is it or is there more to it as I need to do it with my seat belts.
