Being an Alfa, and having had my fair share of this sort of problem I'd be willing to bet on the crank shaft sensor.
Cut out when it was warm? Have you tried starting it after a few hours? If it starts fine when cold but dies once it's up to temp then it's the crank sensor.

Stayed in a hotel in Limerick city last night and witnessed a drunk driver get pulled by not one, not two but three squad cars from my window. Middle aged guy in a van. He was just about to pull away from the hotel when they pounced on him. This was at 6 in the day. Bit OTT given the night that was in it but at least that's one more moron off the road

Was in looking at the new golf van and caddy with my dad today in a dealer. The new golf van is serious really nice high quality feel interior. The golfs are coming with a good few extras free when ordered for January. What puts him of the caddy is the standard caddy is not badly priced but it's 75bhp which thinks is two small the 102bhp is 2k euro more which makes the van expensive. So the golf would probably be the only option with the vw's. I think he will end up with going with a specced up transit courier or focus van. I'd personally prefer the golf but infairness ford have seriously stepped it up.

yep. thats what's appealing to him had the doors in the back. The golf is only 3 door and does seem a little smaller in the back than the focus.

If you need a crank sensor, let me know

otherwise the stater was grand for me I didn't have to go near it atall.... Start at the battery and work your way to the front

In other neus, the local Navanites must think I'm a pimp, or a bollox, or both. Back on 17's with a straight pipe blaring Hot in Here got some funny looks....

Car back on the road after a couple of weeks. Went for a trip up to the Sally Gap after 5 in the lashing rain, not nice at all up there! Car was good though!

My one wiper at full tilt wasn't enough to keep my screen clear of a gratuitous amount of a taxable asset falling from the sky....

It was absolutely hopping off the ground, couldn't see in front of the car for a short bit :eek:

I bet there was still cars driving with no lights. It was raining very heavy on the way back from cork yesterday still people with no lights on. When visibility is really bad it makes the cars very hard to see in your wing mirrors when there passing you or behind you. Ah sure I suppose we are all use to it at this stage.

Talking about wipers. One evening in the rain I was doing 180km/h and my wipers started struggling to work. Wiper motors must not be what they used to be as it's a 1999 car. Or maybe the speed and wind just caused them to struggle.

I'd say high air resistance against the wipers themselves were putting a big load on the motor making it struggle. They probably would have been fine at lower speeds as air resistance increases exponentially with speed not linearly.

I should know better than to be doing those speeds in the wet. But it was a good wide road with hard shoulder and a nice straight stretch and had just overtook somebody who was doing more than speed limit and didn't want to wait around, and only realized how fast I was going when wipers started to struggle so then slowed down.

Lacquer is peeling of two if my alloys well it has been for a few months not really that noticeable or bad yet. The annoying thing is all 4 alloys are in pristine condition ie no kerbing marks or scratches but I'm probably still going have to get the same job done on them that people get done when the alloys are in sh!t ie get the renovated. As I said it not that bad yet so I'll be leaving them till some time next year.

I actually have a bottle of it in the car that I bought in halfirds ages ago and never used it I must try it out I forgot all about it until it was mentioned on here. Is it easy enough to apply ?

God where was that ford ? Even for dealer that sounds strong I got a set of vw wiper for my car when I first got it 27 euro inc vat 6 euro for the rear oh I love vw's cheap parts prices.

I used wiperblades.co.uk they have a better selection. They are quick enough sending them out.

Oh I'm sure they have plenty expensive parts too. But basic service items are dirt cheap you can't get them on micksgarage for the prices that vw dealers will sell them for. Unfortunately I think new engines are quite expensive off them 7k or something for a bxe engine I really hope that day never comes.

Yep 36 for the focus, 46 for the mondeo. Both flat blades. I enquired beforehand, so I was ready to bend over

Gentlemen and ladies, I have a problem, just happened about 15 minutes ago. I was coming onto a motorway, over took a horsebox, and proceeded onto the motorway, about a mile down the road the car begins loosing power, and the permanent engine light starts to flash and comes back on again, so i go to overtake a car and i begin hearing this whooshing noise as this happens the car goes down on power again and starts juddering, so i ease off and it returns to normal, I checked for any vacuum leaks of loose lines and they're all intact, so has anyone else had this problem? what could it be?
