Exactly, his weaknesses have been exposed to his enemies. For Nidge to keep power/stay alive, he would have to take out everybody from Terrence, Fran, Patrick and possibly Siobhan. It could lead towards the final scenes of this season being

Nidge ordering hits on all his enemies ala the Godfather

. Either way we are hopefully going to see a far more ruthless Nidge in the next few episodes as he is nowhere near cutting the mustard at the moment .

It's quite hard to on one hand believe he is one of (if not the ) biggest drugs bosses in Dublin, and on the other have him constantly looking weak....I thought they would try and reinforce his stature by having him knock off the travellers, but not to be

I don't think Fran will be in jail for the rest of the series. He will maybe be there tomorrow's episode and maybe episode 4 but will be left out and may come face to face with Nidge. I have a feeling something will happen that then will bring Nidge and Fran back together as friends at the end somehow? Both to live to fight another day.

I doubt he would stand trial. A psychiatric assessment would clearly show his diminished mental capacity after being introduced to the business end of a 9 iron! If it was real life I would be quite sure the charges would be dropped.

He'll have bail sorted in no time. They could have gone down the route of a "bad" arrest and have it thrown out but seeing as it's a real life cop who's character went all Jack Bauer I doubt they would do that.

That will be an interesting subplot in my opinion. He'll make a few contacts and try to get them to whack Nidge on the outside and then there is the whole issue with Noelie too. Or he might also turn state witness if anything to get Nidge inside with him in order to exact his revenge. Fran has nothing to lose anymore. In Series 2 he was looking to be the new kingpin on the block but his focus has shifted since Linda died. I think Fran being inside creates so many possibilities.
