Absolutely - similar 5 series touring albeit a year older was on the bangernomics thread for around 300 quid* more with test not so long ago.

Yes it was a private sale - but if the dealer selling this one won't put an NCT on it - then it defeats any possible advantage of buying this from a dealer.

The way to think of it - is that the test is what - 50 euro, 55 euro. - if the cars all good - its a small price for the dealer to pay to potentially speed up the sale.

Its not just other 5 series tourings that are on the market this dealers car has to compete with - but someone potentially in the market for an estate of this size - and price - could also consider E class or Saab 9 5 estates.

So a buyer could prefer the BMW as a car - but opt for a 9 5 automatic estate with a fresh test over this particular car.

The way forward is forget this touring - find another 5 series with test - the only good thing about that ad is that at least the dealer is been upfront about the fact that he is a dealer (not pretending he's a private seller).

The fact he wants to sell it as trade - means that imo - that 5 series is overpriced - E39s pop up at similar money with test - so why even look at one without test.

Ya the bit that goes around this piece. There's a holder in the fog light slot for it too. Went to the dealer today, he wasn't sure, he had an exploded view of the front fog lights and found what he thought was the bracket. €2 each so he'll have a pair in tomorrow. I'm just trying to find a pic of said bracket online, so I know what I'm looking for.

You can even see from the ad where the motor tax is mentioned it is never going to make huge money as it's only specific people who will buy it so maybe they see it better to keep the price as low as possible. Once it's checked over properly you would have a fair idea if it will fail on anything major.

Just to let you know that dealer is fairly sound too. We bought a megane estate off them id say 3-4 years ago. They seemed fairly upfront and honest. Small enough dealer but seem to turn a good few cars all the same. Granted the megane had a few electrical problem but I don't think they tried to hide them kind of intermittent. Sold the car on for a few hundred profit 6 month later so can't complain.
