Scrap the dole!

The time has come to scrap the dole, for those on it long term anyway! No more freebies at the expense of the educated people, hard working decent people. Not the cunce who's sky sports and multi room sub is paid for by the folk who get out of bed in the morning. I'm sick busting my balls every day while these wasters longer around drinking cans of Stella at lunchtime

We should petition the government prior to the budget, then scrap usc for us decent folk

An entirely sensible thing to do. But it would cause outrage if introduced here. The vested interest groups would be crying foul. New Zealand is hardly a basket case of a country. I hope it catches on and eventually is introduced here.

Yes I will report people committing fraud regardless of the circumstances. Fraud is fraud. For everyone caught it will hopefully desuade another near them from doing it.

What do you reckon is the percentage of people defrauding the system for purely "noble reasons" in commparison to those who are f the I'm gonna do it coz I can camp or the ones who go on multiple foreign holidays brigade.

I can guess pretty confidently the "noble ones" are in the smallest of minorities.

This is it. This is exactly the problem. There does need to be some proof of competence. Now in some fields you can prove your competence without certification ie. web development where you can show an portfolio of your work, but most people will need to see proof of knowledge to get past the CV screening stage.

Those hating on people claiming the dole are really hating the wrong people.

Hate the politicians on who have set the tone for a corrupt society, but don't blame the poor bastards who don't have much of a chance in life, who are only following the leads of the so called "elite" and trying to play the system.

This thread is a real car crash. We have two/three obviously pretencious people who must be on the wind up although I know for definite one is not (20yr old thats been paying tax for a year thats coming across like a 60 yr old that society has sucked all life and enjoyment out off). Seriously life isnt black and white. Take your head out of your owm ass and look at things objectively and not from your own perspective.

I dont think the issue there is that social welfare needs to be cut. Its the dramatic reduction in services available to someone who becomes employed that needs to be considered.

I actually think a different tack should be taken with those individuals capable of working that sat on the dole right through the Celtic Tiger when there was too many jobs. There are 10,s of 1,000's of them still on the dole.

I think we should be more accommodating of those who lost their jobs in the crash in 2007 and that the aforementioned above should be called in for interview and asked what the hell they have been doing with themselves and I think they should be given, say, 6 - 12 months to get off their arse or get cut off.

I'd find it hard to believe that anyone would have sympathy for those people.

Everyone has sympathy for the workers that lost their employment in the crash. It's the minority of wasters the government refuse to tackle that is leading to generalisng.

Have a friend of a friend who was in a good job and always commenting about people being lazy to work. He lost his job around two years ago and hasn't had a job since despite looking hard.

He has changed from talking about people don't want work and still have money to having a chip on his shoulder living on the breadline complaining about how their are no jobs around. To be honest i get a little enjoyment listening to him complain now that he know's the reality of how things are.

Like the op and two or three other posters here i would gladly laugh at if they lost their jobs and got a reality check about how things really are.

I'm lucky enough to have a job, but I can see why many others don't. I'm well educated, with lots of experience. I've been applying for new jobs for three months. I have a great cv, and a personalised cover letter for each application.

I haven't received so much as a PFO.

Much agreed. Well not if they have a family tbh, but if they're single 20-something-year-olds, meh, I can't say I wouldn't find it quite delightful.

It's weird for someone only in their 20s to be going on like a bitter auld fella/wan.

Of course but we are talking 10 + years here. Do you think there is any excuse for that? I don't. A couple of friends of mine are from 2 of Dublin's most deprived areas. Both got jobs at the height of the recession.

Only thing that annoys me about the dole is cnuts who don't want a job and are happy to just lounge about all day and claim every fcukin benefit out there.
I was just in getting petrol and two junk balls bloke and bird in front of me and the bloke was strung out to bits pulls out a wad of fifties and twenties t buy smokes and gargle. As he pulled it out his social card falls on the ground along with it .
