I've gone ahead and picked a quick team to get this started:

Fabregas - 9 mil
Walcott - 9 mil
Sanchez - 10.5 mil

Dzeko - 8.5
Bony - 8.5
Jelavic - 6.0

23 mil spent. That's a decent stab for a first team IMO. Players are underpriced compared to other seasons IMO.

I think if Dzeko or anyone else for that matter broke the goals scored record in a single match in the Champions League or Internationals it might be kind of relevant. The record is 5 in the Champions league so 6+ more goals would pique interest for me anyway and indicate decent form :pac:

DeGea: open fixtures speak for themselves

Wanted arsenal and Chelsea cover in defence, Luis is new but should play after been very consistent for AM last season. Not sure of my 4m defenders and taking a punt in wisdom.

Midfield is strong IMO. Albrighton as back or can play instead of bojan if he doesn't start straight away.

Jelavic is in due to hulls run of fixtures in there opening games.

RVP is RVP should be capt and hopefully will be on the pens and share the free kicks with mata and possiably Rooney.

4 goals and 1 assist in 6.5 games isn't a bad return. I can't remember how long I had him though, possibly dumped in Wildcard after GW2. I think he's worth the risk at that price. His returns over the last few seasons are ridiculous despite never playing 2,000 minutes in a season.

I couldn't care if he broke the goals scored record in a single match in a CL or international game tbh. Those stats are not relevant to this game. That's clutching at straws of the highest order on your part.

He got a goal and assist in GW1 and 2, subbed off with one point in GW3, didn't feature in GW4 and then came on after 75 minutes in GW5. He didn't play 75 minutes. GW6 he scored alright but who would have kept him until then?

GW7, GW8 and GW9 he was back on the bench and didn't even get a minute. He was dropped in GW4 IMO, not "rested". If City were resting him, he would have started GW5 which he didn't.

I don't care to go any further because I think I've illustrated my point.

Two goals and an assist in nine GWs is about as poor a start as you can expect from a striker at a top four club. He certainly didn't get "a few goals and assists in his opening games".

Agree he'll almost certainly start GW1. Would you not think though that Jovetic is now also going to get game time, therefore its 3 into 2 and Aguero is the big dog (unless he gets injured again). I'd be concerned Dzeko's liable to be subbed on 59mins the odd time.

Playing around with my backline again - it's interesting what you can do with no £4m defenders. This is on a £35.5m budget for defence. Doubling up on Huth and Pieters is an interesting one, especially with their opening fixtures. City (A) is their only really tough fixture, and I would play 3-4-3 after GW1, dropping Huth/Pieters to the bench in favour of Terry/Ferdinand/Mariappa. Stoke have historically been a tough team to break down, especially at home, and if Huth is back I would expect them to improve from their 9 clean sheets they got last year. They got 12 in the previous season, so seeing 4 or 5 clean sheets from their first 10 games would not be impossible.

In saying that... Rio Ferdinand would be in my team! Would be nice having the option of 5 playing defenders though.

I think you could do better with your goalkeepers. Krul and Mannone also rotate well and I would see them as a much stronger pairing. I wouldn't be going for Barkley myself, I think there's better options than him. Wouldn't be convinced by Ince either, is he even guaranteed to play?

Other than that, fairly solid.

Cheers - if Cameron nailed down a spot he would be a bargain. Huth is reasonably priced at £5m. Well capable of scoring goals (6 and 3 assists in 10/11) and usually priced at £5.5m. He missed most of last season with a knee injury, has he been playing pre-season?

I'd expect the same but you're still paying at least 10 million for two defenders guaranteed to play unless it is made clear whether Bardsley or Cameron play.

I'd go with Huth and Pieters for 10 million if going for two Stoke but, bear in mind, you could get:

Collocini at Newcastle and O'Shea at Sunderland for 9 million.

He's cheap and guaranteed to play but look at Lambert's teams in the last three seasons:

11/12 at Norwich - 3 clean sheets
12/13 at Villa - 5 clean sheets
13/14 at Villa - 9 clean sheets

17 clean sheets over 114 games. I'd have no faith in him at all. Norwich kept 8 clean sheets the season after he left, doubling their total the season before under him.

Certain managers and their tactics just don't suit clean sheets (Martin Jol) and Lambert is one IMO.

Does anyone think Bojan for stoke is good value at 5.5 for a striker?? seeing stokes early fixtures has made me want to put in one of their players and literally none of their midfielders sticks out to me. I know bojan is more of a inside forward as opposed to an out and out stiker but he still could clock up a few goals . thoughts???
