It is a go pro. I tried it on the helmet but did not like the way it looked. I prefer to keep it hidden as best as possible.

Its mounted to the screen at the moment but I will get a handlebar mount and a clear screen and I should be laughing.

In fairness to the GLS man. He was across the white line before the lights even went amber and the cyclist did not even have to brake.
Although I would also take exception if a van drove through my estate like that.

His company are as much to blame for putting him under so much pressure to drive a recklessly to get the job done. They should have trackers in the vans to prevent harsh driving.

Totally agree with you, but he didnt even bother tapping the brakes at the stop sign and cut the corner.
It was the postie i was referring to breaking the red light

It would be interesting to see the breakdown of the age of the driver at fault for road fatalaties/serious accidents.
Do the RSA keep/publish such figures?

Sure older people make mistakes, everyone does.
But sadly the states don't lie when it comes to younger people and speed being a larger factor in deaths.

No, deliberately I assume. Every RSA ad ever made shows a 20 year old male killing numerous people. Never any ads showing the old woman driving wrong way down a motorway though. Their chairman is a pensioner who drove 50 years without taking a test. They really need to get over their obsession with young males and drink driving.

Why is this line always trotted out!!
The wrong way on a roundabout motorway is not a simple mistake. Nor os speeding os a built up area.

Neither is speeding, this aint the thread for a discussion tbf I just find it annoying that its always an older person driving responsible in the rsa ad's yet we have had dash cam footage here a few times of older people pulling some seriously stupid stuff.

I never said either was a "simple mistake" I said its a mistake.

Doing 60 in a 50 zone can be a mistake for example...people not watching their speed, does it make it right or ok? No of course not its speeding.

Going the wrong way down a road/roundabout can also be a mistake (I've seen a 30 year old with a full license and several years driving experience manage driving down the wrong side of a motorway because they were too busy talking to somebody) but its still seriously dangerous.

In both instances these sort of people should be prosecuted, laws exist for a reason and people need to pay more attention to how they control the big metal box they drive and remember that it can very easily kill somebody due to their lack of attention.

I can assure you I'm in no way saying these sort of things are ok and should be forgiven,

Maybe they think that if motorists can drive up and park on the footpath (0:10-0:18) they can walk on the road?

Or maybe they're just doing what children often do (eg playing, running, chasing, being boisterous) and the speed bumps are too few in number and/or in the wrong place.

Would you report someone for littering from their car? their driving wasn't great either, but i only turned on the camera after they cut me off on a roundabout.

It has become second nature in this thread to criticize/attack a poster if the video they post isn't up to some peoples liking.
I think people have watched far too many Russian dash cams and therefore expect that in Ireland we will get the same type of driving.
We don't.

It is a pity celticbests video ends so abruptly but it does show some very bad driving from the two cars, and to be fair celticbest was a bit close to the car in front but who here hasn't done that, he just happens to have recorded it.

People here need to stop implying such double standards, this is the reason I won't criticise some posters - because I've driven much worse than what's in there video.

Yep, above everything else, thanks for going to the trouble to post OP.

I think the blue car (BMW?) is a significant player in this vid.
They seem to have been holding up the OP for a long time and then when the OP finally manages to get past, they get the drop on him at the roundabout when he's held up by another car.
But they straightlined the chicane! If it was F1, they'd have gotten a stop go penalty.
But the only course of justice left open to the OP is YouTube.

(As viewed thorugh the eyes of a competitive driver who takes a mental note of every car's position on the way to work, lest someone makes the journey quicker)

Probably not worth it's own thread but will open if people here think I should - thinking of getting a dash cam - just wondering if I should look to get a go pro with a mount for the car or are there any recommendations from you fine folk?

The go pro would be handy as I'd get use out of it for other activities.
