Not being in Europe has been an advantage to us. Have no doubt about that because our squad size may have been an issue otherwise. Don't think it is as big an advantage as it has been made out to be though, because there are usually 14 teams without European football every season yet massive improvements in points tallies similar to ours this season are not a regular or semi regular thing.

But if we look at most of the teams from the EPL that were in Europe, then it is clear that many of them should have the squad depth to handle extra fixtures, with City and Chelsea certainly having far more quality in depth than we have.

At the end of the day finishing positions in the league are not flukes. Where a team finishes does reflect how good or bad they were, and no amount of crying about games played, squad depths, luck, referees etc can change that.

Listen I'd take having to play in Europe every season as long as we could fill our subs bench with 20M pound players like some other clubs rather than Victor Moses on loan and Kolo Toure.

I was saying similar the other day. If its that much of an advantage, why have no Spanish, Italian, French, German or English side managed it over the last 10 or so years?

Its just face saving by fans of teams that haven't done as well as expected.
