Kudos to MagicIRL for the spot.

The Disciplinary Committee regarded the infringements as serious and decided to sanction the club with a transfer ban at both national and international level for two complete and consecutive transfer periods, together with a fine of CHF 450,000. Additionally, the club was granted a period of 90 days in which to regularise the situation of all minor players concerned.

I can't recall the last time a top club was sanctioned like this for dodgy dealings with transfers :O

I'm not saying you're wrong, I don't actually know. However I'd imagine if football has a doping problem then it would not be possible to conceal it indefinitely. It would be leaked by some whistleblowers eventually and if there was a widespread problem then a can of worms would be opened. Also if doping is a problem in top level football then it certainly isn't confined to Barcelona. If they are doing it then most or a lot of their rivals across Europe would be as well.

If Barca are gulty as charged in this instance they should serve out the transfer ban. Still there's a lot of unfounded speculation about other matters going on in this thread, seems like a lot of posters here have it in for Barcelona as a football club for some reason and there appears to be a groupthink thing going on in relation to that club.

Personally I think it's disgusting that we have people on this forum publicly questioning and even implying that a player's career success has been down to illegal activities. It's downright disgraceful that on a public forum they are castigating and calling into question the character of a model professional without a shred of evidence.

1 person has named player without any kind of proof to back it up, the equivalent of pointing at someone in the street and accusing them of being a witch. Others have questioned the validity of the anti doping system in Spain.

Barcelona have been charged, the club will appeal the decision and we will find out the outcome of that appeal in the future, until we discover the outcome all else is speculative nonsense. All I will say is that I agree with Barcelona highlighting La Masia in their defence, a model institution that has produced a fine share of world class footballers and fine human beings, an institution that has helped many realise their dreams and have a better life for players and their families.

Yes but Barca's defence seems to be. Yes, ok we did break the rules but the system we provided is far better than the standards your rules expect anyway. Which may indeed be true (or it might not be), the club has a strong ethos in development of kids' skills in all facets of life but it's still an admission of guilt of sorts. Their appeal will probably be an appeal to the stupidity of FIFA's rule or something along those lines. Which may indeed be true as FIFA can be incredibly stupid, but also, they still broke the rules. Other clubs, it seems, upheld them. Does that mean Barca had an unfair advantage over its rivals?

As a side note, it would be interesting to know how many other clubs are actually breaching these rules. I suspect there's a few in Spain. Barca's only came to light because of anonymous complaints that FIFA had to follow up on. Sort of like the Rosell/Neymar mess it seems both were internal complaints.

A chip on the shoulder and disgusting? I think your reaction to my comments is some what exaggerated.

Firstly, I don't have a chip on my shoulder regarding Barcelona. I like Barcelona, and respect the cultural and political aspects of the club.

I never made an accusation that Xavi was doping, it was however implied. I'm a firm believer that doping in football is commonplace and carried out on a wide scale. On a discussion on corruption etc regarding Barcelona, the question is perfectly valid. I'm not saying Xavi is doping, merely that his unparalleled development is suspicious, and the suspicion is not based purely on his development, there's plenty of other evidence that while certainly not conclusive, at least warrants the questions that are being asked.

As I said, I've huge respect for Barcelona and the culture of the club, but I'm not going to let that blind my opinion of what I believe is a corrupt streak within the club, and this coupled with ongoing Neymar scandal serve to demonstrate that the club do operate in a manner far removed from the principals on which the institution is based

Why is his development in any way suspicious ?
He would probably have been in the Barca team even earlier than he always, except that the ICON that was Pep Guardiola was ahead of him.
He was given his debut in a Cup Final at 18...I think that shows he was skilled as a kid even back then, the signs were there back then of the player he would become

No. Neymar will prove to be a star in the long term and he has contributed with key goals this season. Sanchez provides a different option and is enjoying probably his best season yet at Barcelona. Alba was a terrific buy, at a bargain price, he is top quality. Song provides decent cover and is versatile. Fabregas has undoubted quality and belongs at Barcelona.

Neymar cost almost 100m euro ,maybe more ,he has had a poor season and while he will improve ,he wasnt really needed,a decent centre back was far more necessary.

What about the money wasted on Ibrahimovich and Chygrynskiy ,1 season each at a loss of at least 40m plus Eto .

Caceres,bought for 16.5m ,sold for 3m.

Hleb bought for 15m ,barely played for Barcelona,released for nothing.

Keirrison,bought for 14m ,hasnt kicked a ball for Barcelona.

Henrique,bought for 8m,released for nothing,didnt kick a ball for Barcelona.

Milito ,bought for 20m ,played 48 matches for the club over 4 seasons riddled with injuries,released for nothing.

David Villa ,bought for 40m euro ,sold for 3m,3 years later.
He served the club well but never should have been sold for so little.

There are many more examples of the waste going on in the transfer department and when I hear the club being linked with the likes of David "Liability" Luiz a transfer ban is no harm.

yep im just suprissed that there wasnt a 10-day appeal window attached to it and their wont be a further penalty for barca if they're found to be wasting time
