****ing disgrace, this sort of brutality makes me so angry. How our local politicians don't step up and do something. The image is bad, it reeks of corruption and power hunger. It makes me feel unsafe and uneasy walking the streets. I just don't understand why the **** the cobbles on one footpath don't match the other side of the road. It makes me ****ing furious. That said, I don't see much issue with what they did except for the garda wearing the hi-vis slamming the gate pretty hard on his legs straight off the bat. That was a bit uncalled for but looked like it hit the fat of his shoes more than anything.

Gardai showed remarkable patience and restraint tbh. If that had taken place in other countries, like Germany, UK, Spain, Netherlands or the US, the guy would have received far more "encouragement" to get in the van.

Nothing wrong with it at all. A little light slap across the toes and he still didn't cop on, so he got another until he moved.
Proper order.

The gardai looked like they were taking their time and being patient with him. Seemed like very 'controlled' swings of the baton too.

Man handling someone can be a very risky business, just in terms of biting, scratching even the manual handling side of it I'm sure. No harm in giving him a bit of a tap for encouragement.

1.41 - Shiny head already has his baton out using it.
1.42 - Red head has a quiet word with shiny head to tell him to lay off.
1.45 - Reason for red head not taking out baton and telling shiny head to lay off walks by.
1.49 - Red head and shiny head check again to see if anyone is coming before resuming batoning.

The Guards don't have an easy job to do, but from their own body langauage it's easy to see that these two knew they were doing something (batoning) that they shouldn't be doing.

Will any action be taken over this? I doubt it.

I don't think this warrants any more than the sergeant having a word with them and telling them to try a bit longer to get the lad's legs in the next time.

If they tried a bit longer and the male still hadn't put his legs in, then hit him with the baton, you would still be on here complaining. You hardly expect the Gaurds to wait around all day until the arrested man decides to put his feet in the door.

You sort of answered your own questions there. What they did was probably appropriate for the situation, it just takes one keyboard cowboy to come along and put a different slant on it for whatever crack pot agenda they are pursuing.

You must be watching a different video. Where does it show one garda telling the other to stop? Also "red head" doesn't take out his baton at all.

This isnt about civil liberties or living in a nazi state, it's about somebody being drunk and disorderly and not following the instruction of a garda. The guy should have gotten the batton the minute he resisted.

Yes, red head reached for his baton and then when he saw the person approaching decided not to.

I am extremely deaf and do lip read, but I haven't completed the X-ray semester yet.
When you don't hear much you tend to observe more and learn what body language is saying.

Strange how so many people can say the guy should have been battered into the van but nobody has said what it was he had done to deserve it. Probably hadn't paid his property tax.
