EoinHef wrote: » Yeah I had a look at pc fritz but im not sure if its english version. The product page says mutilanguage but the specs list it as dutch I think. Was unsure about that. It is only €40 for home premium, thats without delivery though
EoinHef wrote: » Was the seller on adverts no help with the 290x man? I know you buy at own risk but surely he should have refunded you after such a short time
deceit wrote: » He is unwilling to give a refund, even though I only used it for 3 hours. Said it was working when he sold it (even though he had the black screen issue at least once and admitted it). He is dealing with the RMA for me though but it is awkward as it is about 50km drive for me either way to his place so hoping can send it from my house and have it delivered here also. He said to them he flashed the bios, just hope they will still rma it after saying this.

Danger781 wrote: » Surely that voids the warranty? If I remember correctly you also said he had a custom PCB? Both of those are red flags for me.. I personally wouldn't hold much faith in an RMA..
It is my understanding that sapphire honours warranty claims even if you remove the heatsink as long as you put it back on

I looked at the sellers ad and the quote from him is not correct.Sapphire will not rma a card that has had the cooler "tampered with".If there are no signs of wear and tear on the screws you might get very lucky. Hopefully Ocuk will sort it for you.
Serephucus wrote: » I'd actually give him the benefit of the doubt so far. If it turns out you can't get an RMA, and then he refuses to give you your money back... well...
deceit wrote: » I had to replace the cooler screws with ones from my sisters card as they where very badly damaged. The thermal pads where also wrecked so had to replace them also with ones from her card. I have it looking pretty decent now and from the outside it wouldn't look like the card was ever opened.
ShadowHearth wrote: » In fairness, its Buyers beware. If I would be a seller I would say to feck off too. I sold my gtx 570 and I knew it was in perfect working order, if seller would be back in 24hours and asking for refund I would tell him very very far away. It sucks, but when you buy stuff like that you HAVE to check everything and then ask yourself - why on earth someone selling highest end card, with barely any millage in. An aftermarket cooler would be a thing alone to make me go away and not buying.
deceit wrote: » He said afterwards in a text, yea he noticed the black screen issue once and never mentioned it. (This is what led to it finally crapping out) This would be hiding the issue. He also said he was buying a gtx 780ti to replace it (being a doctor I didn't think much of that as I'm sure their would be no issue to do such things. It would be very hard to detect the initial issue in testing as took an hour after using before it got warm enough to happen. From now on though I wont be so trusting with people I deal with on adverts. Most of the time I would just take people on their word and never test, this one I seen running only for a minute or so (my stupidity and silly trusting nature) .
ShadowHearth wrote: » As I said, it sucks, And I feel sorry, but it is Buyers Beware with second hand items. similar topic pop up often enough in Motors forums. There is no comeback for buyer. Then again, I would not touch altered and with custom cooler gpu at all.
EoinHef wrote: » Ah cheers man,so its just download the iso and use the key then?@Seaaan PCFritz were the seller on amazon that were selling copies for that price, seems there not on there anymore. Truthfully id rather buy it through amazon off them but cant really argue with there prices, even with delivery still save around €25
Danger781 wrote: » So I set up UPC Horizon at home there a few days ago. What I did not know is that I will no longer have a router but instead everything comes through the one box (TV, Internet, Home Phone, everything). My computer does not have a wifi card in it as I didn't think I'd ever need one. My wifi speeds at the moment are a joke so I need help. As my computer does not have wifi, what I have done is.. Computer connected via ethernet to wifi extender, which is connected to the Horizon box wirelessly in the next room. We're supposed to be getting 120Mb connection (We had 60) with this as well, but my download speeds have dropped significantly. I'm downloading a torrent at the moment which is maxing out at 2MB/s when I should be getting closer to 15 MB/s. Before swapping to Horizon I was getting ~7 MB/s which is about right. Any suggestions of what I can do?

Danger781 wrote: » Ugh, I can use a router? The guy on the phone I was speaking to was an utter twat in that case. He insisted there was no way I could keep the router as it would no longer work with our new Horizon service, so we sent it back. When I realised I wouldn't have a router I asked him if there was a ethernet connection on the Horizon box. He told me, quite confidently I might add, that there was no ethernet connection that the box will only work via wifi. I assumed he was a fool and quickly looked it up while on the phone to him. Home plugs came to mind alright but I figured my current setup is pretty similar to home plugs? Would the performance be any better? I think I have an older UPC router around here somewhere.. I could probably use that. We got rid of it in the first place as the wifi was woeful. I mean it was so bad if you left the room you barely got a signal. With the wifi extender, that shouldn't be a problem..
Serephucus wrote: » Question, as we're on the networking side of things: That's a rough layout of my setup at the moment. There are UPC connections at both TVs, Horizon sitting at the one on the right. My PC is upstairs, everything else is downstairs. At the moment, the office is working off WiFi, my server is wired to Horizon, and my PC is connected via homepugs. Any ideas on a better setup?
Serephucus wrote: » I'm more wondering what I can do for better PC speed... Though at this point I guess the only option is running quite a bit of ethernet somewhere around the house... And I meant that my server is sitting right behind the Horizon box (and the TV).
