In his new role, he must navigating palace intrigue, seductive concubines, criminal underbellies and divine sorcerers. “We wanted to do a show about deceit, sex, intrigue in the court and fantastical goings-on – no better place to set that than ancient Egypt,” Fox entertainment chief Kevin Reilly said in a statement. “Travis Beacham has an inventive mind, and he has wrapped this all together in this intoxicating new drama.” Beacham will executive-produce alongside Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Katherine Pope (New Girl) and Miguel Sapochnik (Fringe), who will also direct the pilot Source
The new hour long project, which has received a put pilot commitment, is a re-imagining of the long-running CBS series. Described as a light, contemporary procedural in the vein of Bones or Fargo, it follows a hospital administrator and amateur sleuth (Spencer) who self-publishes her first mystery novel. Set in a day where sensational headlines inundate the news, this woman’s avid fascination with true crime leads her to become an active participant in the investigations. Former Desperate Housewives executive producer Cunningham is writing and will executive produce with Janollari. I hear Lansbury has been approached to be a part of the reboot.

The original US show, which debuted in 1998 and ran for eight seasons, starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano as the three Halliwell sisters, who all had witchcraft skills. Currently, the reboot project consists of a script deal. However, no pilot or broadcast commitment has yet been made.

We're delighted to be able to say that we're about to start shooting a three-episode series for BBC4. It's called 'The Walshes' and it's based on the characters from our web series 'The Taste of Home'. We've been extremely fortunate to work on it with the marvelous Graham Linehan, who's co-written it with us and will also direct. We'll be shooting in Dublin and London next month. We'll try and post a few production photos as we go. Cross a finger or two for us!
