It's not curious at all IMO to want them to get their comeuppance.
I don't agree with the death penalty or the state having the power to torture etc etc but if those two got a hiding off some vigilantes, it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I wouldn't like to see it or anything, but simply being told about it, I'd be fairly "meh" in response.

I guess it depends on what affects you view as being more severe; violent crime can be very traumatic for victims and it can cause life long issues particularly in terms of mental scarring (constantly looking over your shoulder, always feeling unsafe, nervous about going outside etc).
