Poor old Jon Flanagan's promising start to his senior career seems to have tapered way off. I'm somewhat surprised he is still at the club even.

Kelly is a player I rate but Wisdom last season was a far better player than Kelly was at 19. As for Wisdom getting nosebleeds once he crosses the halfway line, well I can remember many people, myself included, thinking that about Kelly three or four years ago when he was somewhat prone to running down blind alleys once he got into the other team's half. Wisdom only turned 20 a few months back. If he stays injury free I would have great hopes for him being a far more rounded player in three years time when he is the same age as Kelly is now. Am quite happy to have both around if Johnson is out for a long spell though, as would not be upset to see either filling in at right back for an extended period.

He wasnt, and isnt, and his games against Celtic and Notts County proved this for me beyond any doubt. The lad needs to be loaned imo (Johnsons injury changes the situation but thats by default). I think there is a false sense of progression to how it used to be as we have more young players getting games and no older players wanted or needed now. More than 2 years ago Capello singled out Kelly for praise after an Arsenal game. Not long after Kelly was in the England senior squad (im pretty sure he got a man of the match for us in a few games around this time), then he got injured and out for the year. Pretty awful timing for the player. Sure, Wisdom is only 20, but i think to say he had similar or better impact to what Kelly achieved in 10/11 for example is one i will never agree with. Although i hope he does if he comes in now.

Think wisdom will get the nod v swansea at least as its about a year since kelly played a competitive senior game. Its quite nice knowing though johnsons injury wont affect us much at atall as wisdom/kelly are ample replacements.

Plenty on here talked a lot about how Kelly was the future at centre back as well despite him having no experience of note at senior level in that role. But then again I did not once mention Wisdom at centre back earlier today. I am talking about him at right back and he most certainly stepped up in that role last season. Anyone that thinks he did not step up and do very well last season for a 19yo player getting his first real sniff of first team football was not watching the games. Not sure why you are going on about the 10/11 season as some kind of benchmark for comparing Kelly and Wisdom when I was comparing them at the same age as this season is the one where Wisdom will be the same age as Kelly was in the 10/11 season so unless you have a time machine your statement is nothing more than a hunch or guess to be fair. When Kelly was the same age as Wisdom was last season he only had 3 first team appearance all season, and it was not until the following season, which is the 10/11 season, that he had his 23 appearance season. I think Kelly may turn out to be a very good full back, but at 23 years of age he needs to start getting sustained runs in the first team and staying injury free, otherwise we will be sitting down in the latter stages of this season talking about a 24 year old player who might be very good if he gets games. I appreciate the exact same applies to Wisdom in terms of what he needs to develop further, but at three years younger than Kelly he is ahead of where Kelly was with regards to the first team at the same age, and looks far less injury prone than Kelly which could prove to be the deciding factor in seeing which of them gets the RB slot when Johnson is out.

However I do believe I owe a big 'I told you so!' to several posters on here regarding Suarez being at Liverpool come the first week in September, especially Lloyd if he is still around who stated as fact that Suarez would be gone this Summer before the transfer window even opened this summer. I've been waiting months and months to see how this played out since Lloyd declared as fact that Suarez would be gone and while I glean no satisfaction from being right in this instance (normally I would obviously, but I have to admit that there were one or two moments when I myself thought he would go) I do think it has been quite a positive window for Liverpool and we may just catch one or two of the favourites for top 4 as they enter the own years in transition. P.s. In all fairness how did Utd not get two red cards against us last week? Cleverly on Coutinho should have been a straight red, and RVP pushed Skrtel while on a yellow.
