The nature of the tone of their posts is what leads to their opinions being dismissed, imo. Calling posters idiotic, retarded, stupid etc, etc,etc ad naseum is one of the reasons why they are being dismissed so readily. They are almost a parody of dissent in here.

We are all watching the owners and their actions just as we are watching the managers. Yet from the same information they even further off at the opposite end of the scale than the majority of, as Al and LL would put it, the 'pro-Rodgers' side. We are all curious as to the extent of the support the owners are willing to put into the team but the idea that they are going out to do a Man City and throw bundles of cash at anything that moves and see what sticks is, frankly, childish. If you think FSG are going to flush hundreds of millions down the drain to keep us entertained with their cash, then you have a big big shock coming.

Imo, FSG have done quite a good job since they have come in. They saved us from administration and a points deduction and spent big while supporting the incumbent manager. It didnt work and we were left with an old, declining, overpaid, underachieving squad. They then decided to do things their way.

They decided to go with Rodgers, which was/is a gamble.
It might pay off.
It might not.
The opinion of most on here is that it is too soon to tell.
Disagree all you want, it will not make an iota of difference to FSG. They have their template now and are sticking to it. If you disagree then band together with like-minded individuals and pay your money down and purchase the club. Slightly flippant but not outside the bounds of reality. I wonder what the reaction of posters looking for huge sums to be spent would be if it was their money that was on the line, would they be so keen to overspend just to get players in?

On your final point, the right players. The key word here is 'right'. Spending just for the sake of it or so someone can get a stiffy isnt going to solve the problems the club has. Players are bought with the future in mind. Not the immediate future so far in the current window but Toure and Aspas i would view as improvements on the previous players and Mignolet at least on a par and probably will exceed Reina in a year or two. I would like to see more but as i said previously, it wouldnt surprise me to see us looking at the Jan transfer window for some reasonably priced players who have dropped out of first choice for their clubs but are willing to move for recognition in a world cup year.

Perhaps you might care to answer the question i posed to Alan, just throw up a few posts of the people who who DONT think we need 2-3 first team players, and DONT need them THIS transfer window? So far my question has been ignored by Mr Alan.......

I raised the Milner idea. I think it's an interesting discussion and wanted to get a gauge of people's views here on him if the Willian deal fell through.

Depends on your POV, on whether you take it as Piece or as a Whole.

If you take it in Isolation then, Alan does have his Point.

But it doesn't work that way.

For one, even if he only cost 12M, I'd imagine his Wages in Man City would be as High if not Higher than Suarez/Gerrard. And that's simply too much for a Squad Player.

And that's what he'll be, if we manage to bring in Willian.

So if you take everything into Context, the Acquisition of Milner is Pointless. Since we can use that Money better to strengthen our other Positions.

He could absolutely do a job for us in centre mid, or on either side of the striker, so that's him in my eyes available to play 5 of the 10 outfield spots, he has also played at left and right back I believe quite well in the past.

My point is that people will change their tune if/when we don't sign sign a couple of quality players to go straight into our starting 11.

Exactly the same way all those who thought there was no way Rodgers was good enough to be manager of Liverpool, changed their mind as soon as he got a job.

In terms of playing in the wide positions he doesn't score goals, that is a requirement. In terms of playing in the central midfield, I don't think he has the intelligence to play there.

I hope we put a recall clause in his contract, looking a bit light on the creative side of things.

I thought the general consensus was we should overpay for Willian and offer him all the wages he wants?

After the andy Carroll and Stuart Downing fiasco sometimes not signing a player might actually be a good thing.
