Just do a dumpfile , I'm open to correction by STB or anyone else but as far as I'm aware there are no separate channel lists and firmware files .abs , the difference is how you load them to the receiver , allcode and bootloader is full firmware upgrade and userdb is just the channels and settings so its a lot quicker to load,

I thought when I created dumpfile.abs, it was just my channel data and not the software also.

It copies your current firmware and the channel lists when you do dumpfile.

Why I suggest first upgrading with the latest ferguson ABS (firmware) file and do an upgrade by USB, Allcode+bootloader is so that it completely wipes users box of previous firmware and channel lists. Ferguson also recommend a factory reset at this stage to cleanse the box. Bits of old firmware can creep in otherwise. You then upload the channel list via upgrade by USB and choose UserDB and choose that same firmware version dumpfile which loads the channel list. Using an old previous version firmware dumpfile is not recommended by Ferguson as it contains old bits from previous firmware that you have just upgraded. It wont kill the box mind you if you ignore this!

I know what you are asking and you could possibly do an allcode+bootloader and then a UserDB with the same file (theoretically). You still have to do it seperately though.

The one thing that doesn't copy across no matter what you do is the names of the favorite lists. IE (Saorview&Sat, BBC Red Button, Sport, Music Channels etc). You have to rename the favourite groups when you copy that channel list to another box (as it defaults the names back to Fav List 1, 2 etc). One for Ferguson.

I've removed a lot of the pointless channels (i.e. anything bar the Irish & UK channels and then groups for kids/movies/news/music/red button).

BTW its for an Ariva 150 running the 1.20B1 firmware.
Does anyone know how I can remove the groups for each individual satellite that show up like a Favourite group? Like mine goes - All Channels > Astra 2A > Eurobird 1 > DVB-T > KIDS > MOVIES > NEWS > MUSIC > RED BUTTON
but I don't want the Astra 2A & Eurobird to show. Any ideas?
Also I'm not picking BBC3/4 up as separate channels anymore just as cbbc and cbeebies. Any idea how to sort that?

Good work, unfortunately you cannot have astra 2 and Eurobird not showing. To get BBC3/4 showing so a single transponder (TP) scan on 10.818 V 22000 5/6 and 10.773 H 22000 5/6 after 7pm

Interestingly STB, when I copied over the list you posted last month, it DID keep the names you had created "DVBT & FTA", "BBC OLYMPICS" etc. that was pre the 1.20 update.

Just to note that BBC3 on Astra 2A has changed to a transponder that isn't in the list by default. You will have to manually add this in and scan it after 7pm to get the channel. The link for details on it is http://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/info/sat_frequencies.shtml The last entry, DSAT6, is the BBC 3 change. Off the top of my head, you enter the TP List option and enter a new TP, Freq 10817, V polarisation, 22000. Oh, almost forgot, clicking on this new TP then scans it for channels. Good luck.

BBC are moving stuff around a lot these days. I think on the 21st the BBC HD channels are moving too so anyone thinking of a rescan might hold off.

Few points:
- If you use the channel editor you can get the channel list in shape pretty quickly.
- If you write the dumpfile to a USB stick, use the remove safely option or you might end up with a partially written file.
- When you have old channels in any favourite list these still remain after a rescan even if not a valid channel anymore.

If anyone is having the no signal issue on BBC ONE HD and BBC HD on the Arivia 150 or 250, an easy fix is to

Click Menu
TP List
Scroll to 10847 MHZ
Press red button
Scroll to Symbol Rate
Change it from 22000 to 23000
Save
Exit

Anyway, when I look at the 'TV guide' / EPG, the Saorview channels populate automatically but I can only see the now/next for the satellite ones when I actually visit the channels. Anyone know a way to get 'em to prepopulate?

Unfortunately there is no way as it pulls the data from the transponder itself

Tried this but no joy so far! First off, the manual something about "saved list of DVB-T". Don't know what that's about.
Anyway, I picked Ireland at the top, but then next you are asked "FTA",, YES OR NO. What does FTA mean? Pressed "search" trying yes and the no option, but when progress bar reached the end, just "no signal message.
I am using a SCART lead to connect the 150 to the TV. There are two scart sockets on the back of the TV and I have tried both of these using the above sequence, but same result. No problem with the digital channels.
As you will have gathered by now, I am no wizard, so if anyone can explain how to obtain Saorview on the 150, I'd really appreciate it...
The manual is difficult to comprehend, with, for instance, all the menu illustrations virtually unreadable blank...or maybe it's just me!

Can you pick up analogue direct to the TV?

FTA means Free to Air.

Yes, already have Freeview as installed by Satellite.ie, with the 150 replacing the Grundig bow, so using same connections.

Try powering the box off at the back and try the auto tune again. The same thing happened me when I was trying to setup my sister's 150, albeit it was uk sat channels as she hasn't an aerial installed yet. It worked first time after powering back up. Worth a try.

If that doesn't work, then try a manual tune. Go to the saorview website, type in your address and it will give you your local transmitter with the channel number.

FTA = Free to air. Do you have a UHF aerial for the reception of terrestrial signals? Saorview is nothing to do with satellites, or dishes.

Yes, when Satellite.ie installed the FTA dish, they also erected the aerial for the Irish channels, and no problems with reception. We have a couple of Grundig boxes in other rooms, and I have just replaced a similar one of these with the 150.

I tried Ollie's suggestions but still no joy!

One remote for the Irish channels, and one for the satellite stations. There is a separate junction box at the back, one lead from the aerial and one from the dish, with a single output which is connected to the 150.

I can still get Irish and satellite stations on the other TV'S in the house (via the Grundig boxes) but having connected the 150 the same way as the Grundig, I don't get the Irish stations, only the satellite ones.. However, If I switch off the 150 via its remote, the screen defaults to Network two, with no apparent means of switching to the other Irish channels.
It all sounds complicated but I suspect there must be a simple solution...somewhere!

I dont understand what the junction box is 4 nor the need for 2 controls.

I think the prolem is this junction box

Connect the sat cable and the aerial cable directly into the Ariva 150 (thats why its a Combo, there is no need 4 a junction box) - you only need the remote for the Ariva - Ive no idea what the other one is for

You mean 1 of the remotes is the actual tv remote? The 'junction box' would make more sense if it had 1 cable going in (combined satellite & terrestrial signal) & 2 coming out (signal split for the Ariva's terr. & sat. inputs). The 'in' & 'out' is a matter of context, as the same device is used at the other end of the downlead to combine the signals. It would formerly have split the signal to the Grundig box (presume this is/was a satellite receiver) & the tv's own tuner. Just to be sure, maybe you could describe this ' junction box' & any writing on it, maybe post a pic.

Anyhow, more than likely all you've done is fail to connect the terrestrial aerial feed to the Ariva's terr. input. You can then use a separate cable to connect between the Ariva's aerial-out socket & the tv's aerial input, if you wish to re-establish this connection (if the tv also has a Saorview tuner).

However, If I switch off the 150 via its remote, the screen defaults to Network two, with no apparent means of switching to the other Irish channels.

Total novice, got box today, managed to get most channel installed and moved to a reasonable order

I added some satellites but the only channels I think Im missing are the CBS drama etc ones.

Anyone know what satellite I need to add to gain access to these?? Had them on my old sky box, I presume its just a matter of going through the other satellites but figured you guys might know which satellite specifically
