EnterNow wrote: » Cheers, that details it a bit better So basically: A PAL cart on an NTSC Snes will be a black screen A PAL cart on an NTSC Snes with Region switch will throw up the region error A PAL cart on an NTSC Snes with a Region & 50Hz switch will pass the checks Cidey, yep yours is modded same way I always do the mod 9or else has the super cic mod done). I just don't wanna mod this NTSC Snes, I'm happy to keep it stock & rework my carts to suit it. I actually don't have that many...luckily

I presume they used different carts so they could add extra features/modes to games and to stop owners buying (what I can only assume were) cheaper retail carts to stick into the boxes.

EnterNow wrote: » Yep you'd need to have a PAL Snes modded with a 50/60z switch & a Region switch. Then it'll play the majority of carts no mater what region. Some later NTSC carts such as Super Mario RPG have extra protection though & still won't work. There's also a fairly newer type mod called the Super CIC mod, which you replace the entire stock CIC chip in the snes with a new chip that makes it 100% compatible. There's guides to the region & 60Hz switch in my sig if you wanna do them yourself, I havn't yet done the Super CIC mod so mmmonkey for that one
Nerdkiller1991 wrote: » Then you wouldn't mind it if I were to ask you to do it for me, since I don't exactly have the best hands for the job...nor do I have the know how. I mean, if I ever get around to actually getting a Super Nintendo.
EnterNow wrote: » The region & 60hz mod? Yep no bother, sure pm me whenever you want & we'll sort it out when you get a console
