No himself car got towed home today by the aa man, he took out the relay box and the back seat and was checking out the pump, pump is fine cos it's only new, ruled out alternator issue and starter motor.

He says it's an intermittent problem with the switch, was saying something about a problem with the switching sensor for the relay??

He was of the opinion that my fuel pump might not have need to be changed after all, going to have to have a 'friendly' chat with my mechanic to find out what investigative work he did before he changed the pump.

Think I might bring it to Courtneys on the North St, they come highly recommended, pain in the arse to get to though. The AA man did tell me that the fella who put my alarm on my E30 Gary is a whiz at bmw electrics so I will drop him a text as well.

This is a pig of a job to do. A pig because the bolt is usually seized in the arm and unless you have a cutting torch, forget it!

All the rustproofing was done by me. When I got it first, it had none atall. The back was going crusty, I got it in time :eek:

I think the axle has had it :rolleyes: have a few to choose from and put in so I'm not too worried. Just the job to do this again :mad:

Just need to put in the bigger arb, new handbrake cables, fix the trailer socket and job done

That old arm ate up a relatively good tyre too :mad:

The ones on the Passat are a right PITA, they should do them like BMW and have a handy little flap in the undertray that you just open with one screw to reveal the sump plug:

I put the car up on a lift to check out my rear springs, it appears to be sitting about 10mm lower on one side and cracked springs in the E46 is common but I couldnt see any problems

I might get the Eibach Pro Kit anyway to stiffen up the suspension a bit. Painted the hubs and calipers silver while it was on the lift, makes it look a lot cleaner

Is she lower on the drivers side?

They all sit a little lower on that side, full fuel tank

Yeah 2/3 of the tank or more is on the drivers side but theres only 30 litres or so in it. The main reason I noticed that something was not right was when I went for a spin yesterday with a few of the lads at midway and going over a hump in the road it would bottom out in the back and the wheels would rub the arches

Decided to swap from 18s to 17s, just put my wanted advert up:(

Needs to be done to increase comfort as much as possible. Also looking at leather recaros too if they'll fit.

Want a set of 16" steels? I'm sure I could convince my dad that 18's would look well on his Octy .... then again, probably not. He didn't even notice that I'd gone from 17's to 20's :rolleyes:

Curious though - what profile are the tyres? Used to have 18's on the Laguna with 45 series tyres, and didn't find them much different to the factory 17's over 15k miles (apart from the 18's being stronger and not buckling every other month)

Same width, would go from a 40 to 45 profile. 16s won't work with the brakes I'm currently bidding on...

God no! Just plastered on a load of hammerite

I dont think other paint would last as well, hammerite goes on well on that rough metal too. Will get better pics in the daylight next weekend. Just waiting on my smoked indicators and angel eyes now
