HP Touchpad Thread (NO Discussion Of Personal Buying/Selling)

Just a heads up to people.

I'm in NY for the summer and I've just ordered 2 of these for $220.
HP have discontinued the Touchpad this week and are now letting them go for $99 (16GB) and $149 (32GB).

I know most of you aren't in the USA but treat this as a heads up to get a very good tablet, with Flash Player, at a knock-down price.

That's what I did

Strange though it says "Pre-order to BE FIRST" on the search page but then doesn't offer you to pre-order when you click into the item

Just off the phone to Expansys. They have them in stock , but are charging the full amount (499) . Thats how much you will pay if you do order

how are argos codes still being honored i dont get it.

twitter people saying one thing, ie not stock, other saying their getting theirs today, im confused. what happening.

this is all i got from argos after asking for an explanion as to what can be done for people who are not going to be honored

I emailed expanse and this is the reply I got.

Hello,

for the moment we do not know the price as our suppliers don’t offer it at discount prices at least not at this time so your order is on hold till we will have the confirmation.

You card has not been charged but the money has been reserved according the value of the order.

we are in talks with suppliers right now but some far we got no reply or confirmation about this from them or HP directly if they will honour this rebate.

If this is confirmed, we will contact all backorders and let them know the new price as soon as we will have confirmed information and asked them to RE-confirm the orders before shipping them out.

Edit: I also rang them and the lady confirmed the above. All orders are on hold until HP get back to them. She said they have a load of orders but also have a huge stock, but then again there could be 1000+ orders.

I was on to Argos in Limerick and they said that the Hp touch pads had apple software on them, of some form that was exclusive to apple and they were forced to recall all the touchpad. They said they will be getting the touchpad in again without the apple software and they will NOT be on sale at the discounted price.

In a way its not argos's fault, they were clearly not aware the touchpad was out of production and were probably expecting a restock like any other product. OK,I can understand that there are no stocks anywhere on the touchpads as they were on fire sale earlier this week. But I thought the pre 3 should be on sale as well. I didn't see much of that except elera in which I have missed the sale twice.......Does anyone know why there are no signs of pre 3?
