HP Touchpad Thread (NO Discussion Of Personal Buying/Selling)

Just a heads up to people.

I'm in NY for the summer and I've just ordered 2 of these for $220.
HP have discontinued the Touchpad this week and are now letting them go for $99 (16GB) and $149 (32GB).

I know most of you aren't in the USA but treat this as a heads up to get a very good tablet, with Flash Player, at a knock-down price.

Yes, there are more important to go all 'Sqquuueeeee' about.. but the price is a steal for a very nicely rounded Tablet. One that until recently, was priced 4x to 5x the price.

You couldn't buy even the most basic chinese tablet\ZTE\Archos for the same price.

It's not a case of 'if' Android gets ported, but when..

I've just ordered from Amazon. Fingers crossed it'll come back in stock.

As someone said, Amazon won't be getting stock back in of a discontinued product.

And there are one or two people over on HotUKDeals who got estimated dates on their order.... I'd say it's a no-go for Amazon unless you got an estimated despatch date.

YUS! Im guessing that was the total amount of stock they had as their all gone already? I wouldn't be surprised if they sold a few hundred in the space of 15 mins.

Risky how? They're not going to sneak into your house and steal the tablet back.

You won't get long term support or firmware updates, but for €100 you're getting something with good specs that can surf the web, check email, watch a movie etc.

well i got 2 ordered off amazon. 2 kids. just wondering why they would drop it to 89 pounds if they didnt have stock? and they only had about 20 when i saw it so maybe they got some allocated.

I actually wanted one, it was this or a Herotab or similar. Delighted, I just need a browser and Flash support, not one bit bothered by anything else.

Just a warning, by default Amazon includes you into a 3 day delivery for just under £6 sterling. You need to select the Super Saver Delivery button yourself.

Personally I wouldn't bother.

Leave the two orders open even if you only want one. That way you're covered in case one of them cancelled, and if you get two you won't have any trouble selling one at cost to someone who missed out.

Have you got a link to that HUKD thread as I cant find it. Be interesting to read their views. Im hoping amazon deliver on it, but im not going to hold my breath.
