Clearly you haven't read over SF policy documents. Most people are like you. Makes broad statements but have no real research behind them.

I'd also refer you to the North where the best performing departments are run by SF ministers!! A lot of people just look for reasons to knock a party that's different from the the FF,FG,Lab consensus.

I think a lot depends on your age, those too young to remeber will inhale the Sinn Fein bull s*** and blindly tick the SF box (without any real thought), then you have the young indoctrinated types who have a picture of Padraig Pearse on their bedroom wall, then of course you have the older pub dwelling hardened Republican 'we faught the brits' shinners who seem to be a dying breed these days 'thank God', and then you have the rest of us who wont be voting Sinn Fein because we do remember what they were, before they shaved off the moustaches & bought the new suits, and also because we see the madness in the current SF economic policies > stuff the IMF indeed :rolleyes:

I didn't support the PIRA murderers in the 70s 80s 90s, and I certainly don't believe SF propaganda machine now!

Got a SF flyer through my letter box this am, tore it in half then straight in the bin with it, before any contamination might set in :mad:

There has been a lot of mention of SF economic plans here actually so it's not true to suggest people haven't read them.
The daftness in the SF plans isn't rocket science to point out.
Lots of people here have pointed out 2 glaring holes (1)That the nprf would be needed to cover this years defecit leaving no money for their stimulus

(2) Even if there was money left which there isn't,the projects the pension money's to be spent on are all for public services like building schools,hospitals etc.Those projects don't earn a return so when they are done ,whats the workers on them to do then? remember,there'll be no money left as the cuts are reversed meaning the couple of billion raised in property and wealth taxes and the 48% tax will be gone and we are back at square one spending 19 billion more than we earn.
The SF plan then is mad as a hatter thinking the bond markets will give us that €15 billion + each year in perpetuity,a year after we unilaterally default, with no way of paying it off and with the mountain of debt building up and interest payments spiraling.

These things are being said over and over again in this thread and every once in a while,people from SF come along and act as if they were never said and certainly don't deal with them

It baffles me as to why they would think most people in the country would buy into such dodgy logic.
The only reason I can come up with is one I mentioned last night and that is,they are playing to a certain demographic who just don't care about "minor things" like wheres the money going to come from.
That demographic is a minority and as long as Sinn Féin continue to base all their energy on courting it instead of a blend that makes a wider demographic have confidence in them, untill then SF will remain a minority party.

They still obviously have the potential to double their seats or more though as is the case with clever vote management on 14% or so.

One big difference between the North and the Republic though. The North is part of the UK, and pretty much entirely funded by UK tax payers who do not live there. It does not and could not stand alone as an economic entity.

So, don't vote for SF (fantasy policy), and don't vote for anyone who's been in power the last few years.

That still leaves you with Labour and ULA if you lean left, FG is you lean right, and various independents (but watch out for "independents" who are really FFers who jumped ship to avoid going down with the party!)
