This kind of nonsense just really get's to me in this day and age. The rescources and food suplly was not the problem. Over population was not the problem. The problem was, it was a holocaust. I just don't care what sort of crap we learn in school cus its crap. I'm sick and tired of this brainwashing and false facts on this issue. The English created a holocaust. They took our other crops, made us rent the land and over many years they made us TOTALLY dependant on the potato crop. They exported all other crops, and then sent the blight in and wiped out half the country. It was genocide. That graph HAS no relevance to this matter whatsoever. The Population of England was rising at the same rate of Ireland at the time.
Denerick wrote: » Also in relation to the potatoe crop - it has already been stated, but the British did not 'take' our other crops. The British did not force us to acclimatise ourselves to the potatoe. The potatoe was the most nutritious vegetable available and one acre could feed an entire family. Its yield was incredible. ERGO, for a tiny tenant plot in the west of Ireland, potatoes was the way to go. To suggest that the British forced people to grow potatoes and then sent in a magic blight to kill off the peasants reeks of Lord of the Rings, not history.
mysterious wrote: » The British DID take our crops. if they didn't there wouldn't be a famine. I know there is many high ranking people ONLINE ya know spreading dis info and not wanting the truth to be out. But its out as far as I'm concerned. Most people know the Irish famine was a holocaust. The British have been trying to wipe out the Merogrovigian/Atlantean And yeshua line that came to Ireland.. The british have been murdering us for hundreds of years. The Cromwellen times was another.......

Its just a reality dude, its not even a conspiracy. My Dad is'n't a conspiracy theorist and he was talking about this the other day. Sinead O Connor and many famous people brought a lot of awareness to the truth of the Irish holocaust. There is no way 1.5 million people would die from potato falure. It's just ridicolous. The only way it was so horrific and people starved, is because the British created a holocaust.
I joined a site on facebook a bout a month ago and its has thousands of people joined to the "irish holocaust not famine webpage".
I wouldn't insult others and accusing them having blind faith in something, maybe you that's in denial? Or, you've insulted my intellegence and pretty much half the country on this issue.

Denerick wrote: » Ok. Yes, Sinead o'Connor. Ok. This has been a strange day.
mysterious wrote: » Well it's not strange to me because I can deal with the reality and face up to the horror of this story. I like been real. I also am not useing the victim card or feeling angry about it. It's past stuff and it's not strange just a fact of life that happened. We can't change the past. But i'm not going to sit here and pretend this aint real and brush it under the carpet . Interesting how this is strange to you. Hmm why?
Brown Bomber wrote: » They did force us (assuming you are of Irish Catholic heritage) to grow potatoes though; through neccessity. The situation forced upon us by a largely British Protestant landlords, i.e. fishing and hunting was banned, miserly plots allocated to the farmhands, exorbitant rents and time expected to work their masters farm and the various slavery conditions imposed dictated that growing potatoes with its vast nutrient wealth (as you mentioned) was the only way for a peasant farmer and his family to survive

Denerick wrote: » Please try to learn the difference between stating a political faith and a reasoned argument. A reasoned argument requires a set of facts, around which is based an hypothesis, which may or may not be proven to be true following a period of healthy intellectual skirmishing with other people of conflicting hypotheses. Stating a political faith, with no further contextual analysis, is not, unfortunately, a reasoned argument.
Denerick wrote: » Thats fair enough. I don't dispute that. Nobody with a conscience can honestly say that the state of the Irish peasantry was not a stain on the legacy of the British Empire. I just don't agree with the argument that the British deliberately engineered a genocide of the Irish peasantry. EDIT: And yes, I am of Irish Catholic background. My people were very poor Donegal tenant farmers at the time of the Irish Famine, and many emigrated.

Oh sure what happened to the Catholics in the North during the plantations? They didn't dissappear by randon natural causes. Oh no Denerick, the British rulers, would never do that, oh no. thats not on now! The British would never do this, Why are you covering thier asses?
Denerick wrote: » Have you ever read an Irish history book?
mysterious wrote: » I do lots of research, but many real historians go out and FIND out themselves and end up re writing history because the ****e we read in school for the most part is horrorific. As for the debate, goes I asked you 2 questions and replyed 3 post's you've ignored them. Interesting.
