Usually if someone "Talkz abot hw gr8 d nyte woz" they're not the brightest person in the world. If you're dyslexic, spellcheck is just a click away.

Typo's are fine but people who spell like the above do my nut in.

I dont spelling has any relation to intelligence. However outside of the internet your spelling has a bearing on how other people see you. There is no excuse for bad spelling in a Word document or email so if people send me an email with bad spelling I assume they are lazy and sloppy. IMHO it usually bears out when you meet them or have to deal with them.

Intelligence to me is about understanding and comprehension. If I know what they are writing, it does me. It's how "youth / pop culture" has taken to writing these days, so it's going to stick and possibily progress further like that.

In reference to them possibly not being the brightest person in the world... you gotta accept that even though everyone would have the ability to develope into a highly regarded intellect, not everyone is going to, nor should that have to, or at least in line with what's currently regarded as the standards these days.

Judging someone as being lazy or sloppy is taking their personality into question, not their intelligence.

how does not spelling words correctly, not using grammar and using acryonms actually show a lack of intelligence? its not as if spelling is difficult anyway which means that most people can use correct grammar and spell correctly but they chose to do otherwise.

infact spelling is so easy because of the number of tools we have to spell things for us that usiing it as a measure of intelligence is retarded

there are different types of dyslexia some like mine don't allow you wright or spell without great difficulty but you can read anbd to a degree see misspellings

so i can see what i've written si wrong but don't know what to write instead

Great in theory but it doesnt really work when your posting.. Genrally lysdexic people spell phoneticaly, we miss silent letters out. So when you put your post into word and click spell check it doesnt give you the words we require, but mad variations, of other words. you end up with words that really make no sence.

Then you gotta take in genrall grammer I know from my own emails letters some thing's I type make no sence what so ever. Esspechilly when I type at speed.

But if you don't understand dyslexia or see how it works and what the brain does its kinda like the m50 with the tole bridge instead of cars youve got information movements and what nots moving from one part of the brain to the other except in place's theres blockages with in the brain.

and things slow down, you chat to any dyslexic theyle say they have the information, but getting it from the brain to a peace of papaer is exceptionaly difficult, because your concintrating on a typing or writing even talking and keeping your train of thaught, and thats where dyslexia and something has to give useually spelling for getting words or even lossing track of what your saying.

The only way I've found to keep my train of thuaght is to type slowly and not type at sillys speeds.

Having said all that dyslexia is also to do with eye movements we may read a book well throw words in that arnt really there but 6 lines below us, and then you have to reread a hole page agin because we get even more confussed...

If you think its just a simple spelling dissorder its not it affects a very wide range of things.

I remember one time I accidentally made a spelling mistake and my cousin straight out told me 'novels help with spellin'.

no, theres no way of comparing because the test or qualification set is so diluted with people who cant spell but and rely on spell checkers to create the illusion they can. its similar to the chinese room experiment which invalidates the turing test as a test of artificial intelligence

if you want a test of intelligence you pick a harder task as a measure to give a more broad spectrum of results
