Genuinely confused as to why we havent seen it yet tbh, this technology means massive precise destruction is open to any lone wolf lunatic like no other time in history. You could buy a cutting edge drone for a couple of grand off Amazon and send it anywhere with a couple of KG payload and its basically unstoppable. The explosives would be a problem but theres plenty of recipes for decent homemade stuff online.

Who the fcuk gave that idiot an manpad lol
Not just terrorism, but any criminal activity. The drone war on the US Southern border is surprisingly active, though we don't hear much about it other than high impact events like shutting down El Paso airport by accident. It is, however, a local US testing ground for some UAS/C-UAS technologies without having to go to Ukraine.
Long article on how NATO would fight without the US being involved at any point. It's not the weapons and troops the US provides which is the important bit, it's the enablers and knowledge. Even if Europe made up the hardware gap, it would need to do everything from set up corps level staff training to increasing the space budget. On the plus side; even if the US pulls out brigades from Europe, that doesn't affect the unique capabilities that the US provides to NATO.

I love the smell of oil burning in the morning….
I'm aware of drone attacks or drones being used for recon, but I was more talking about mass drone attacks on for example civilian areas in the form of drone swarms.
Yes, on the explosives think I have commented on this before. A major difficulty for terrorists to overcome (at least in any country with a strong state and pretty decent and well resourced police + intelligence) is they need the explosives. Obviously the drone is no use (to a terrorist that wants to mass murder) without them. Unlike the drones or software and chips that can do machine vision to assist with targetting etc. explosives and any chemicals or equipment to make explosives are tightly controlled and restricted.
Yes, in most countries access to explosives is the limiting factor. Except in countries that have recently been involved in a local war. Combatants will often bring home souvenirs or the means to protect/defend themselves if things go títs up. Couple that with your traumatised Russian grunt with no access to mental health services in a dysfunctional country. Russia is so fúcked in the coming years regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine.
From the BBC
"Writing on X, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said: "One of the most popular questions asked by Muscovites this morning is 'What is going on?'"
"I can answer. Your country started a war of aggression against ours. For years, it has been killing our people," Sybiha wrote.
"Now that you know what's going on, ask Putin when he is planning to end it."
Every country needs to setup an anti drone uint within there armed forces especially ireland as an island airports are the first target next would be power generation centres
Good job air defence
Great idea, especially as we are a strategic threat due to our abundance of natural resources combined with our ability to project naval and air superiority across the Atlantic.
Trump says he's willing to increase help for Ukraine on condition G7 helps demine Hormuz strait.
Reports Russia running low on interceptors.
Lol
i read an article about drones made of cardboard recently.
Traber is one of Putins mates from his St. Petersburg days. The KGB flew in from Moscow, dragged him off to a court in Moscow. The question being on whose orders was he taken down? Putin or someone else? Konstantin Samoilov paints the picture on his youtube channel. It could also be an asset grab now that Putins "roof" has been holed, after all no honour among thieves.

Black drizzle falling in Moscow making life unpleasant for the locals..hopefully the refineries there burn for a long time and they get a good downpour all over the Kremlin.. the locals there have to be quite restrained in posting comments or video for fear of being charged with discrediting the russian military or some other makey up offense
I was amused thus evening to hear an LBC programme starting with Ukraine for the first time I can remember in years, and the announcer (the usually fairly reliable Andrew Marr) pronouncing that the outcome was now 'suddenly less predictable'. I mean, at what stage was it ever 'predictable' ? (unless he was assuming all along that Russia would win, which I think he was).
I would argue the outcome is now MORE predictable than it was at any previous stage, and that it's now reasonable to say Ukraine are winning.
Wonder if that guy firing the manpad is the guy who blew up the refinery.
That is what happens after a bottle of vodka!
There is a quote attributed to Winston Churchill. We don't know what is happening in Moscow.
Kremlin political intrigues are comparable to a bulldog fight under a rug. An outsider only hears the growling, and when he sees the bones fly out from beneath it is obvious who won.
I think Andrew Marr may be picking up on background intrigues in Moscow. We see signs such as central banker Elvira Nabiullina disappearing, very likely threw in the towel, plus the arrest of Ilya Taber by the KGB. Someones network is being dismantled.
The Russian war on Ukraine has been lengthened by years due to Trumps heavy handed interference and control taking.
“I’ll sort this week 1”. How did that work out? Whose side are you on Mr President? Russias or NATO’s?
Love this one!
….
Hopefully more good news in the morning. I like the directions these are heading.
High quality video out now, the infamous explosion was caused by Russians themselves with their air defence missile hitting the tank and causing the blow off 😂

"especially Ireland" Nope, that's up there with the much needed iodine tablets.
No harm having an anti drone unit for airports even from a terrorist point of view. Our forces need investment, might aswell put it towards the future of warfare.
Things moving incredibly fast now. “May you live in interesting times” fast. Luka saying Belarus was sorry for getting involved was the canary in the mine moment.
Putin has long since passed any semblance of an off ramp. This is last days of [insert empire of choice] epic and it’s Putin’s worst nightmare.
Drone ware fare is akin to the tank ending trench fighting in WW1. It’s a new reality. It’s going to worry many nations, including the US, as a great leveller.
Got to love the bellicose Russian media falling apart and accepting the harsh reality they are required to suffer. Humiliation. Their earlier clips showing the destruction of the UK with a Poseidon is looking even more ridiculous now, Lord Haw Haw esk.
Zelensky surpasses WW2 Churchill imo, a master of statecraft (and will probably suffer the same politically, eventually) not least of which was sitting in the Oval Office listening to those clowns telling him he had no cards. That took Herculean effort not to give in to what must have been a great temptation to retaliate against those idiots.
Many doubted Ukraine would get back Crimea. It’s not looking good for Russia right now. Reparations will be “interesting” for Russia. The danger is what happens to a disintegrating Russia. I think it will take a post WW2 Germany global intervention to manage (carve it up?). Not there yet, and there will be more surprises, but we are at least at the beginning of the end I feel.
