Jeez : the sight of that tank lid flying high into the sky is impressive. Definitely on a par with those turret-tossing clips we used to get back in the early days.
I must say, (further to sarcastic comment above), seeing this daytime attack on Moscow, along with the apocalptyic fire-and-smoke panorama above the city feels like a very sweet revenge for Putin's terrorism. Knowing the Muscovites will have black rain falling on them for the next week as a constant reminder of how close they are to Putin's war-of-choice makes it even better.
And apart from the obvious (and significant?) damage to Moscow's fuel supplies, the propoganda value of such a daring daytime raid, when everyone's out and about with their phones ready to record and share it across Kremlin-approved platforms is a real masterstroke by Ukraine.

Telepgraph's podcast had yer man Caolann wotzhisface on talking about the Limerick Alumina plant on Tuesday. He's not really my cup of tea, but it's good to see this being kept in the news. Hopefully he becomes like a dog with a bone about it. If the Irish Times reporting can't get the govt to act, maybe a social media storm will.
There are video clips of it from different angles, so it seems to be real. Some of the screen-grabs look like they might've been enhanced a bit, but the "flight path" of the lid does correspond to what we see in the source video.

Comrades from Crimea report: the resort season on the peninsula has been almost completely cancelled. Fuel is hard to come by, or not available at all. Destroyed factories and oil depots are not resuming operations, but simply disappearing from the economic map along with their workers. Hundreds of workers are being sent on unpaid leave or simply laid off due to a lack of jobs. Cafes, restaurants, hotels—in general, Crimean businesses have ground to a halt. No fuel means no tourists. No tourists means no business in Crimea.
Gonna be hard to persuade the planted Russians to stick around for the glory of Mother Putin when there's no work, no fuel, no money, no future …

The only downside is the wind will be blowing the smoke away from central Moscow..
I know there are probably a multitude of various factors required and taken into account to carry out these strikes, but it'd be great if wind direction was factored into it to ensure the smoke plume blew towards Moscow.
Though having said that, maybe the wind blowing the direction it was blowing is what enabled this operation to happen as the drones will have had a great push towards Moscow, flying faster making them possibly harder to intercept..
The ability to conduct such strikes in Moscos in broad daylight definitely highlights the degradation of Russia's air defences.
Their continued attempts to prosecute this failed imperial war are making Russians look stupider by the day. It's almost as if they're being run by the Trump administration. Though even they seem to know when to surrender…
This is surely disaster level for Moscow? Oil refinery fires on a scale like this are major events, the whole city could be contaminated.

I believe the wealthiest citizens live to the west and south west of the centre so won't cop much oily rain. We're just looking for the cherry on top here though. What a a glorious strike.
They may need to rush the failing air defence assets to Putins mansions as they're not helping Moscow much. Saw one clean clip of one of the drones being shot down only to crash and explode into a nearby building. They really can't class the refinery hits as a falling debris incident so what's the predicted spin? NATO drones is my guess.

Well Russia is in the enviable position that it can end its war any time.Ukraine has to wait it out until the attacks stop.
God knows what would happen if Russia did just that and there was no face saving formula to save the regime from its own people.

Those visuals of those Moscow attacks are stunning, its often what people see that matters.
This will put fear into the population that the whole thing is folding.

I don't think it will put fear in the population. Look at them filming outside and they seem relax. They are like this because they know they are safe. They know Ukraine is not targeting civilians.
I think it is part of Ukraine plans. They fight a regime but not it's population. The last thing they want is for future russian generations to hate Ukraine for atrocities against their families. To prevent this, you cripple the country but leave it's population alone.
URRS tried putting fear into people and look at the results. You have young generations that despise Russia even though they never experienced URRS.
I'm referring more to the prospect of people having nothing, no sanitation, no water, no fuel, no heat for winter.
Just look how quickly people here paniced at the prospect of no toilet paper.
That is the kind of fear that we need to see in the eyes of middle class russia.
BBC covered this well today, an advance swarm of dummy drones to test the defences.
Traditional air defences are fast becoming obsolete in the face of mass swarms of cheap drones.

Then it will become cheap drones to counter cheap drones.

Ukraine has been extremely effective in showing just how powerful drones can be, even the small cheap ones. If you want to you could do immense damage to civilians. A lorry full of them would be catastrophic in any city center.
There'll be a lot more toys-out-of-pram war crimes from him before then.
