which is the FDE?
The Mojave Dessert one that you posted is basically FDE. Flat Dark Earth (FDE) is the ceramic coat used on firearms, etc used in the dessert.
This is the Miramar

I was walking past the Swatch store on Grafton st today, they had them in the window, not sure if you could walk in and buy tho?
Love it
I'm in Cardiff this weekend. Just passed the Swatch store in St.David's Centre.
No recession over here either.!!
Apparently there was over 1000 in the queue and it was bedlam according to the security staff.

Peak capitalism. I'm reminded of the montage scenes of the wonka craze of the lengths people went to find a golden ticket.
I hate people.
Not sure how you can use the term peak capitalism when on a watch forum, where some people would spend as much on a watch as others would spend on a car. Is that not capitalism?
To answer your question yes it is but it's relative. For some lashing out ten k or whatever on a watch is doable.
My point I was making is the obvious scalpers in feeding frenzy mode. You see the same bottom feeding displays with grown men wrestling over pokemon cards to flip for profit.
As was already said tis all part of the game and profit is what makes this capitalist world go round.....but the level of mania is what sets into the peak category. For me at least, feel free to disagree😉
Anybody bought from states recently? Is the duty at 25%
I was given a rep to regulate there a couple days ago. The latest from vsf factory, a no date sub, ref 124060 I believe. I always ask the owner if it's OK to post pics (leave owner anonymous) but he declined.
They've upped their game again. It's now harder again to differentiate them unless you open the caseback. This had a rep movement too but obviously not the free sprung balance. Dial and case is on point and they've sorted the rehaut finish now too. This is a watch I would only ever buy in an ad. Nothing stopping them swapping in an oem movement afterall...
The only kinda readily visible to the naked eye give away was the height of the dome on the pearl, it's marginally too proud. Be careful out there folk.
BTW, should I ever find myself buying a modern rolex it would be a 124060.
I bought a cheap steel bracelet to see if I liked it on a watch that came with black resin straps, is there any way to remove a few links?
you need to punch out the pins and where the arrow goes is the way you punch through and insert them again, it’s easy enough if you have the tools
This is my watch tool collection 😄
This guy is taking the piss
http://www.adverts.ie/40109393
He got 45 for it
If that was working somone got a bargain. I restored one lately, it sold for way more.
Why do you say that? €95 for one of those is pretty fair, no?!
why is he taking the pi55 ?
Managed to remove 3 links off that temu bracelet using that little temu tool!
I'll wear it for a few days and see how it goes. Can get a better quality bracelet if needed then
The digital display said P155, looked like piss
Ahhhh!
You got us!!😁
I'm not sure if this is worth making a separate thread about, but I was interested to know if there are any watchmakers here that could give me some advice.
During covid I got interested in watch repair, buying non-working mechanical watches and getting them going again and it's a hobby I really enjoy. Simultaneously, I have been getting sick of my current job of 13 years and have been wondering more and more whether I could make a career out of this hobby. I'm in my early 40's and I'm hoping it's not too late to get in to this professionally.
Would this be a viable option for a career change at my age? I believe the nearest options for formal training would be in the UK. Are there other routes into the career that I could consider?
on that note whatever happened to IrishPlayer 🤔
He pops in now and again. I'd say he's still loving life working for Bremont in the UK.
Have a look here...
My son is away travelling this summer, so I reckoned a good, rugged automatic diver was a good option, so I gave him my recently pressure tested and regulated Gigandet.
However, I also need a rugged, holiday/swimming time piece so went with a very cheap sub homage with an NH35 movement. Despite the price, build quality is excellent and it has many higher end features, such as AR coating, inscribed rehaut ring, glide lock clasp, and ceramic bezel insert.
The surprise was that after a day on the wrist it was running at -2s/d.
Now I like to run a + if anything but for a second hand watch in this segment, I was impressed.
Will pop it on the timegrapher after a week or so, and see if I can get it +1s/d.
Brand? Photos?!
