What are these figures ?
Well put if this way I don’t think anyone with a half decent education will be voting Hutch. Basically to me is the self disenfranchised and disillusioned percentage of the electorate in the north inner city. And are voting for “one of their own”.
If Hutch was elected can you imagine how he would perform in Dàil debates. And who would want to be seen sitting near him?

At events in the constituency and on social media, Mr Hutch called on his supporters to make sure they were registered to vote to help elect him as a TD.
However, finalised electoral figures from Dublin City Council show that a total of just 713 new voters were registered across the constituency.
It has further details of various areas eg.
There are 57,619 eligible voters in the constituency, meaning the increase equates to little more than 1.2% of the total. Cabra had the biggest increase in the number of new voters, with 103 registered in Cabra East and 94 in Cabra West.
These were the numbers earlier in the year.
There were 54,200 registered voters at the start of 2023, said a council spokesperson. That figure rose to 59,400 at the start of 2024, before dropping a little to just over 57,000 at the outset of this year.

I'm not condoning it, just saying he might be perceived as a Robin Hood type figure.

Haven't followed the whole thread about Stephens, but on your map, when you zoom in Kinvara Fc comes up, they happen to be based on the Navan road Dublin 7 around the corner from his home.
Kinvara is an area of Galway and an estate in D7 where maybe his parents Lived? He lives about 200m away from there.

It's not that much worse than what Mary Fitz got in 2024. They have all but disappeared here since Bertie retired.
They'd be a lot more worried about Galway West. A sub-10% vote there, which is quite possible I'd say, would set off alarm bells.
The EU presidency starts a month after the byelections so nothing will happen as regards the leadership during that. Martin will probably retire early in 2027 to let Jim O'Callaghan practice being Taoiseach for a few months before handing over to FG in December 2027.
Hutch won't get anywhere near close.
In the GE, mid 20%s was enough to get you elected in a five horse race.
This time, the winner need 50% +1, or to be last man standing.
Gerry Hutch will get a strong local protest vote in the north inner city and Cabra, because the people there are dopes, but Dublin Central includes Drumcondra, bits of Glasnevin and Whitehall, Phibsborough, Oxmantown and Stoneybatter.
The only thing Hutch will get there is laughed at
Thanks yeah I was wondering. Because despite calling out a typo my main point on that seemed to have gone over @dierdremf head. That SF don’t get much transfers from other candidates.
Because beyond their core support SF are not trusted or very likeable individuals on the whole, as well as the historical issues. And add to that the disproportionate say members from another jurisdiction have in the party.

If you've been seriously considering him, then you should be able to tell us what it is about him that makes him worthy of a vote. So, tell us, what in your view makes him worthy of your vote above all other candidates?
Personally speaking, I believe that he is a political waster and has done nothing of note in his past political actions but you should be able to correct my view as you've given him serious consideration.
He's an independent, he's achieved a modest position in life from challenging childhood circumstances and has a certain sartorial elegance.
Still waiting for someone to give a convincing reason not to vote for him.
He's a convicted arsonist, he's a professional NIMBY and he has done absolutely nothing of benefit in his decades on the council. In a district that isn't in Dublin Central

Voting independent is, in my mind, a waste of time. They cannot contribute anything in the dail as a sole trader, and all the jobs and influence that might have been possible at government formation time are gone now too.

So he was actually being paid and should have included it, inexplicable why he didn't.
For context, I’m not in that constituency, and am a member of a political party.
He challenged in court the madness of Dublin City council wanting to make the coast road from Merrion Gates into Ringsend one-way and devoting half to a great big cycle lane and the court agreed with him. He was joined in the case by another council member (but can’t recall their name).
And a higher court eviscerated the lower court agreement as hideously flawed
I find it difficult to square someone called "cyclingtourist" with this question...
Anyway he has held back the city at every possible opportunity on the council and I would be shocked if he ever even steps foot in the Dublin Central.

Writing 22 instead of 21 is a typo - writing 14 instead of 21 is not a typo.
As for SF's transfers, we have no idea how transfer-friendly Boylan will be, but have you considered that quite a number of transfers to Ennis would be Boylan No 1s? They won't reach Ennis unless Boylan is first eliminated which means Ennis won't get them unless he overtakes Boylan.
