I had similar thoughts. But came to the conclusion that if a 1Gb product came along then I'd just sign up for that.
Gomo modem arrived yesterday. Setting it up now.
What is the make and model of the modem? If you switch the provider do you have to give back the modem?
Are you happy with the performance of the GoMo BB overall?
The router is an eir F3500 without the eir logo, which is a Sagemcom F@ST 5359. Most providers do look for the router to be returned.

Does GoMo broadband support PPPoE?
Yes but it also supports IPoE/DHCP, which would be more straightforward with no username or password needed. VLAN ID 10 is still needed.
No budging from sky so will make the move to go mo too.

What do you think about the PureTelecom 1 Gbps BB connection? I was offered 36 euro per month for 6 months and then 40 euro after that for the rest 6 months. Not sure whether the modem they provide currently is WiFi 7 or not. I was with them earlier and no issues with connection - it was on OpenEir network.
I migrated from Eir to Pure. No issues at all. Just plugged out the old router and plugged in the new one.
Hooked various devices onto the new router.
Job done.
PT were fine for myself (although I was on NBI network).
As for routers, if your current wifi setup is working well and meets your needs, wifi 7 will not bring any added improvement. Wifi 6/6e will serve most households for a good many years to come, especially on a 1Gbs connection.
Unfortunately it is marketed as a feature (7 sounds better than 6), but most people dont bother understanding the differences in the underlying technology or have enough devices that can utilize the benefits of it at this stage.
It's the Huawei LG8245B7N that's provided afaik. It's WiFi 7 but lacks 6GHz, which makes the biggest difference.

I have Wireless Access Points in my upstairs rooms and as you said it may not make much difference for me because of my setup. But usually the WiFi 7 devices are more powerfull that WiFi 6 ones with more cores, more memory etc. So hope it may result in improved performance.
I may go with PureTelecom during this year's broadband switch as I dont think a 500 Mbps speed is enough for me with multiple devices, streaming etc. PT's support is good and doesnt have Annual Price Inflation hikes every April.

Can't disable the 5GHz option on their Sagecom router to allow me to setup my smart plugs/switches.

I need access to 2.4GHz in isolation to allow me connect plugs/switches. Bad start, maybe it is too good to be true.
Setup the guest network as a 2.4ghz only network.
Yeah the F3500 doesn't let you split the bands. With Vodafone routers in the past you could unhide the option with HTML Inspect Element, it mightn't be possible with the F3500.
You could always buy your own router instead - Connection Type - IPoE/DHCP. Internet VLAN ID 10 in VLAN/IPTV settings.
Or you can maybe try disabling the 5GHz, set up your smart plugs etc. and then enable 5GHz again.

Just put your old router back on, I got the text to say Gomo was live, did a speedtest and it is 👍, same router, same everything. It's very good.

Making the switch and router was delivered today . It's the Sagemcom CS 39000 version I got
Same as I got, I think everyone is getting the same. It's the Eir F3500 without the branding it's a good router gives plenty of coverage around the house.
All Sagemcom routers have CS 39000 or 50001 listed on them, it's just part of the address for Sagemcom afaik.

Hoping to move to GoMo mid June. Banking on fact will still be available - they only offer 3-5 working day timeframe for switch and i can't break contract till mid June without incurring termination fee and claw back from Pure. Hopefully this deal from Gomo will get the rest to improve their pricing. 29.99 for life is crazy good deal
if you have the mobile with them as well they give you 3 months mobile phone free, I saw an advert on Instagram
Note - This only applies to the first 2000 who sign up for the deal if you read the t&C's . No idea how to check how many have signed up so far
You should be able to change the activation/engineer date in MyGoMo once you've ordered, I'm not sure how far forward you can go though.

Set up gomo today and getting great speeds. No problems setting up and getting it all up and running. Dont have to worry about price changes now in the future. Very happy so far.
Assuming it's still within the 2000, do you need to do anything other than have mobile and sign up to browdband to get this?
I signed up within a few hours of getting the 3 months free email, I don't think anything will show up on Mygomo until the 14 day cooling off period for the BB has passed.
to sign up to GoMo Fiber, do you need to take out a mobile sim plan too? It seems the offer is only there if you have a mobile sim already with gomo
