closed my aib account last month, fully in with revolut. I opened an N26 online account with €300 in it as backup just incase revolt goes down on any given day.
Have a backup account if going solely neobank.
I would not be happy with all my eggs (or even my salary) in my revolut account where there are no humans.
Yeah, I still have savings in Bunq and AIB (because of the stupid AIB limit on their 3% 'online saver' account that goes up by €1k a month then resets during the year, but is still better than Bunq's 2.01%)
Wonderful, Revolut just emailed me that I'm not getting my pay until next Tuesday.
Has anyone used their RevPoints to purchase a RyanAir Gift Card?
It says …
I purchased a flight and my card got charged the full amount. Does anyone know when the GiftCard is applied and refunded to my card?
It’s been a few days now
No help here, but… oh dear. You have to deal now with not only Revolut customer service, but Ryanair customer service, too. It took me no less than six calls/follow-up emails per call over about nine months to get a Ryanair ****-up with one of their gift cards resolved, finally only managed to get it cleared up when small claims court was threatened.
Good reason to have a retail bank account
You mean the "Bank holiday impact on payments" email? That's an informational email, it affects all banks, it's not a Revolut issue. If you're getting paid late, it's because your employer didn't run their payroll early enough to allow for the bank holiday (which happens every year).
As above, it affects all banks equally
Not necessarily. Not all banks operate as Revolut.Gov asked employers to be aware of May 1st in Europe and Bank Holiday Monday here.Who was listening? I don't think the bots were
What on earth are you talking about? The previous poster's employer failed to ensure they were paid on time. There is absolutely nothing that Revolut (or any bank) could have done to change that.
Exactly. My employer mails me about 3 weeks before xmas and easter and on other occasions where public holidays disrupt regular payments, in order to tell me how soon in advance of my normal payday I'm being paid. This is entirely on the employer, not the bank.
The only time colleagues of mine haven't been paid on time in recent years is because Irish bricks and mortar banks have had well-publicised system outages.
Can you provide further details on this as it seems a bit confusing… On the face of it Revolut's crystal ball would seem to be remarable…. In order for a bank to be able to tell you on the 28/29 that a transaction won't hit your account until 5th, they must be already aware of the instruction….
They sent an email to advise that payments scheduled for Friday 1st and Monday 4th won't process until Tuesday because of public holidays
You may notice a delay to some payments over the weekend, due to the European bank holiday on 1 May 2026, and the Irish bank holiday on 4 May 2026.
SEPA Instant payments and Revolut transfers won't be affected.
What does this mean for me?
Payments from external banks that you're due to recieve between 1 May and 4 May may not arrive until 5 May
Standard SEPA bank transfers sent between 1 May and 4 May may not reach the recipient’s bank until 5 May
Payments between Revolut customers will remain instant and will work without delay
SEPA Instant transfers to supported banks will continue to be processed without delay over the weekend
What do I need to do?
If you have important payments to make across these dates, we recommend sending them in advance to make sure they reach the recipient on time. Payments made closer to the weekend may only be completed the next working day.
If you're expecting a payment over the bank holiday weekend, it may not arrive until 5 May.
Where can I get help?
If you have any questions about this, get in touch via our 24/7 in-app chat.

That is all very good, but we need an answer from the OP. They are talking specifically about their salary/wages and I just want to clarify exactly what they are referring to - a specific notice or just the general flyer. This is standard and their employer should have a process in place to deal with it.
You are quite right.Excellent summary of what could have happened to a lot of people.Lazy inconsiderate eff... employers
I got that email as well.Revolut can hold the money and earn interesy
You certainly are not a fan of Revolut thats for sure 😂. Every bank in the country is processing payments in the same way this weekend so Revolut isnt benefiting in any way over the domestic ones. What they are guilty of is informing customers of what all banks are aware was coming.
We dont know if the OP was actually paid on Thursday and their employer planned for it and they just reacted to the email 🤔
I do owe an apology, I'm not monthly salary, I'm every second Friday paid so I thought I'd be in trouble but the money came in okay.
That is simply untrue and there is an ECJ ruling on it.
How do you reckon it's better than the Aer Card?
The Aer Card is around half the monthly fee and comes with the "free" flights for hitting a low enough spend; I know Metal gives 1:2 for Rev Points versus 1:4 on the Aer BOI card but is there something obvious I'm missing? Genuine question! :-)
Far more Avios flights availability than the free aerclub flights.
You can also see availability online and book online. With The AerClub card it's often many many back and forths by email trying to find dates.
The aerclub flights only have carry on luggage and you still have to pay VAT not a great deal IMO
You pay the roughly the same taxes on Avios and AerClub.
"The Aer Card is around half the monthly fee" - no, the Metal a/c is free for six months if I pay my salary in, and comes with things like free NordVPN subscription that I would have been paying for anyway.
And as others half mentioned, much more flight availability with Avios, rather than hoping the flight I want might possibly be available via Aer Card free flights.
Ah, gotcha.
I use the Free Flights (gift them to relatives) and also redeem Avios flights when needed. I get my salary paid into Revolut to so might check the Metal trial as well!
EDIT - no 6 month trial for me sadly.
Somehow my debit card was cloned/details stolen and someone was trying to buy netflix/uber and some food in Lidl in Spain.
I have location enabled for all my card and Revo did **** all to blocked these transactions.Luckly I had 3e only. This is is 1st time happened never had issue before.Their response was,"well *****,nothing really happened,u can terminate your card for peace of mind "😂
Well what exactly were you expecting them to do? The system worked exactly as expected and you can cancel your card if you wish. What you should do and only you can do it, is check if any of the places you have provided details were hacked and if your card details are being offered for sale.
The location security feature only works where a physical card is used to make a payment at a terminal. It doesn't work with on-line payments or with virtual cards.
True about the OP receiving pay-not specified.Sending an email is good practice nothing of guilt in it but maybe back end sloppy practices
