Cancelled
How is Shanganagh doing with the temporary course. Is it working well?
I wouldn't imagine so. Two weeks ago the 'another way 5k' course route was changed due to the park being unusable.
I'm fairly close to the park and havn't heard anything about works/repairs etc.
The last 3 cancellation messages were 9th April, 16th April (for two weeks) and 30th April. All Thursdays. So whilst it might (hopefully) be back, the lack of a cancellation message by Wednesday shouldn't be taken as a signal.
Also when they do come back after ~6 months off, they'll surely give a 'We are on' message to confirm, rather than just the absence of a cancellation message.
Is Darndale back this weekend? First time in ages I've seen no "cancelled this week" on the event page.
Ever thought Inis Meáin was difficult to get to? Well...

Look at the course page then zoom out the map, keep zooming out.
some people just love something to complain about. I recall about 10 years ago (maybe more 😩) a woman in St Annes sticking her shoulder into me as I ran past her. She was coming towards me on the footpath so I moved onto the grass to go around her and she stuck the shoulder out. She then went to run director and complained about it. Some people think that their entitlement trumps everyone else and resent anyone else using ‘their park’.
That said earlier this year I was being lapped in St Annes and saw a guy bang into a dog walker and continue without stopping which is really not on. Reported it when I finished first lap but damage is done at that point.
The RDs are at pains every week to tell parkrunners to give way to other park users but not everyone will listen unfortunately. Entitlement on both sides
It did for me!
That would have sent me to a different parkrun
St Annes really depends.
On a small week, 400 would be expected. On average I would say 500 with some odd weekends pushing 600-700.
I believe they had 911 which was an Irish record (I believe it still is) when your joe wicks came down one morning and announced it a week before hand.
Thank you everyone for the clarification. I always assumed Marlay was the only one in the country that would push above 500 regularly so consider me educated. 🙂
Meanwhile we welcomed two new courses today, both on the North coast, one each side of the border. In Northern Ireland we have Riverside, Ballymoney and in Donegal we got Ards Forest Park in Creeslough.
Thats St Annes, my local.
I've had issues with dogs before. Pretty much every week.
It's my local, St. Anne's, but I don't believe there's been any incidents recently (the Run Director said that at a recent briefing). I rarely see dogs on the route during the window I'm running (I guess most people probably wait a few minutes while the bulk of the runners head off).
Someone at the bottom of the thread mentions St Anne’s dog park (Not speaking ill of it or anything just noticed it) Think the one at Marlay is usualy pretty good at giving way on the paths, but I think there was an incident one week where someone bumped into a member of the public and didn't stop. I didn't see it though, only going by hear-say
Sounds like St Anne's to me. Marlay is a one lapper, St Anne's is two.
"they do a double lap around the dog park" - This is not Marlay.
Anyone know which run is involved here? The high attendance numbers would suggest Marley.

Not been out there but Brooklyn Bridge remains pretty popular.
There's also Branch Brook out in Newark but their attendance tends to be in the tens.
Watch for the start times, Brooklyn starts at 8am in the summer months. Branch Brook is 9am the whole time.
Has anyone done a parkrun in New York or know if they are on at the moment?
A few years ago when I ran Berlin marathon, Templehoff was the expo location.
Which podcast was that?
Appreciate the enthusiasm, have done Tourmakeady, nice and challenging 2 lap course, but posts like that, especially when posted twice by accident, come accross as spammy. Personal antidotes or introducing yourself as part of the core team, would be more likely to garner a positive response.
Meanwhile in Berlin, there was an interesting take off in Templehoff as a new parkrun was set up in the former airport starting this morning. Certainly a flat course and the event director, an English guy, told a podcast recently he hopes that it can stay open on marathon weekends as other Berlin parkruns have a cancel as they can't handle big crowds.

Nearest one that doesn't mention grass is Fletcher Moss. 5.7km to the north east. On the parkrun app, if you know how to find a place on the map, you can press it and get an "events near here" list.
While we're talking about airports, seen a page set up for a run starting later in April in Berlin in Templehoff Airport. An abandoned airport that these days is probably best known as a Formula E racetrack.

Anyone ever do one near Manchester Airport.
Flight at 6:30 on Saturday for a match at 12:45 be nice to get a parkrun in at 9am. Preferably not mucky.
Mura di Luca is fantastic
Make the effort, you won't regret it
It was also Europe's most southern parkrun until Gibraltar got in there.
Mura di Luca is one I have my eye on, one lap of the Roman empire walls of the city.
A visit to Mount Etna parkrun is well worth the effort. Got the overnight train from Milan to Sicily. The train goes onto the boat for the crossing. Was a unique experience
