Looks like they've identified the hit ship
I don't understand the need for them/ anyone to publicise her actions? This in an age when supposedly legitimate police officers see fit to cover their faces while on duty (honourable mention to the upstanding ICE officers).
If that's correct information, she won't be hard to track down. And more to the point, her family won't be hard to identify.
I always raise a smile at that Submarine stat 😂
I read that earlier. His nonsense is so childish and tiresome, maddening.
Ironically, one response a rational person could make to a man with a career like Donald Trump's insulting Zelenskyy as a "PT Barnum" is the child's one of "I know you are but what am I?!"…
Much of the weaponry the US donated under Biden was surplus and of no use really for this war with Iran (unless Trump is mad enough to send the army in on the ground perhaps).
Critical stuff that having a lot more of might help for this war Trump has started (Patriot interceptor missiles) for guts of a year now I think Europeans have been buying that for Ukraine as customer, and paying top dollar.
Everyone is always to blame for whatever is "wrong", except Trump himself of course.
I wonder how much the previous attack on Iran, and now this bigger and much more serious one aimed at toppling the regime, will cost the US in the end? Will we (or US voters) even receive a straight figure off the Trump admin.?
All pretty much wars of choice in the ME driven by a combo of Israel's horrible and evil govt. pressing for a big US war with Iran and factions within the Republican party who agree and have wanted same for decades now, long before the advent of Trump.
Not great PR I suppose.

In fairness, I think this is really an issue of outsourcing and global supply chains.
Another very dubious "benefit "we've all gotten from the process that's been ongoing since the 00s - the dictatorships around the world (like Putin's Russia) being given the ability to mass-manufacture effective cheap weapons to better slaughter us with in future wars.
Was that in "The World is Flat"? (I admit haven't read it in fairness!).
Track down by whom? I think they have that covered. If the FSB could get to anyone they wanted in Ukraine, when they wanted, there wouldn't be a war. Very recently they tried to get some people in Moldova to go to Ukraine and assassinate some people. Budanov's lads were on to it and stopped the plot.
I think the point of highlighting her story might be to encourage others to join the military who might think they weren't suitable and possibly to make some Ukrainian men who don't want to serve their country to perhaps reconsider.
Lionising the achievements of elite snipers is hardly a new tactic in the world of propoganda… how many of us know the name Vasily Zaitsev?
They did a pretty good job on that Russian (tank commander I think? who defected a couple of years ago and was taken out somewhere in Spain (again, I think). Protecting top ranking commanders and politicians is one thing, but random rank and file soldiers?
I get that you feel the need to shoot down anything that could in any way possibly be seen as giving the Russian military operates any credit whatsoever, which is fine, but I think it's a stretch to laugh at the idea that globally broadcasting the identity of one particular individual responsible for the deaths of 300+ Russians carries no risk of retribution in the years to come after the war.
It was a small point made - why the need for it? It's not like its going to lead to a sudden surge in recruitment or national pride. But the internet never forgets. Just kill them and move on to kill some more until they're back where they belong. That's all I'm saying.
Bit of a difference between the 1940s (when the world was much larger and ordinary lives were anonymous) versus the 2020s (when you can track people from behind a laptop thousands of miles away and everyone has a digital footprint), and between trying to raise public morale when up against the wall (enemy literally at the gates) versus already having largely contained the enemy (enemy reduced to taking a few fields).
He was a helicopter pilot, defected with the machine. He was stupid, loud and obvious in Spain - partying in nightclubs - spending the reward money for the chopper. Had he stayed in Ukraine, or kept a low profile, he likely would still be alive.
I already gave two possible reasons for it.
It's good publicity for the character of the Ukrainian people, which is very much worth publicising for all manner of reasons.
They also did a pretty terrible job using novichok and polonium on UK streets
UKR by helping Middle East countries, will create new very large financial backers for them into the future.
Famous sniper at Stalingrad, immortalised in the film 'Enemy at the Gates' which tells the story of his victorious duel with a German sniper.
Report here seems to suggest Ukraine regained more territory than it lost in February:

Oh no, they must have hired the brother of the Moskva cook who went cooking chips
Boom
Because she's not living in our comfort or security.
She's not thinking like you and me; she's all in and is prepared to die everyday she gets out of bed.
She's not afraid of death in some distant future she's not afraid of it today.
Snipers kill lots of people but it's really dangerous work and can only be done by people happy with that risk.
If you read Toby Harnden's "Bandit Country" it's hard not to be struck by the admiration some British army staff hunting the sniper in South Armagh had for his coolness and bravery. They still despised him but the admiration was still there.
I wonder how many of the Gulf states {many of whom have sizeable Russian populations laundering money for Kremlin} will take up Zelenskys offer to help with their little drone problem in exchange for them pressuring Putin into a ceasefire
Found a graphic to go with that
I wouldn't expect (but do hope) this trend to continue into the next month but it's been a decent month and a well needed morale boost for the Ukrainians.
This is the first time one of those heavy LNG tankers has ever burned, apparently they're designed to burn not explode but if it does go off it could be one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions in history.
Turns out it was them damned Libyans again
Of course he would (thanks for the clarification btw) - Ukraine is a fortress at the moment given that it's at the highest state of alert in the middle of an existential war. However in the years following ceasefire/ peace? The Russians have proven well able to take out those they want to target overseas in the years prior to 2022.
It's not an issue worth debating tbh - I've my view (why draw attention to yourself) and yours is obviously different. That's fine.
Huh? We're not talking about her operations/ skill/ bravery etc? Nobody questioned any of what you've posted. My point had nothing to do with her position as a sniper.
This ^ pictures emerging now, that is not a sunrise 🌅 but Russias newest submarine
Update: crew survived

Not looking too good there…
Oh no, it sunk!
Ukrainian kinetic sanctions are the best kind.
"Kinetic sanctions"…love military speak.
Reminds me of the US army once describing a chopper crash as "a vertical transport device suffering an uncontained blade liberation incident".
Would the crew be prosecuted? Like, is it a criminal offence to be part of the crew of a sanctioned tanker ?
Am a simple man, I enjoy reports like this
Things you love to read #273
How is that still afloat? Or has it since sunk? Still impressive that it was floating at that stage. Either way, it ain't cargo-ing no cargo no more!
Oh it sunk it sees alright, maybe gas and segregated compartments kept it afloat for some time
Speaking of sinking
Hopefully the environmental impact isn't too negative. I love seeing anything Russian being destroyed but I am a little worried at the environmental cost of sinking their warships…
that gas was gonna be burned anyways, if anything it experienced rapid thermodynamic burn off on that big boom 💥 photographed higher up ensuring highly damaging to climate methane turned into co2
Aside; I can’t believe that’s even a concern, if Russia get their wish of colonising and occupying half of Europe again under their Russian empire, climate change be the least of all our worries
