Claire is set to take over Pat Kenny's slot from Tuesday 3rd February.
The existing PK thread will remain for his weekend show, the title will be edited once the name is announced.

One thing for sure Claire is not a patch on Pat. The show is just very flat

I used to mainly listen to Pat in the morning and if it was a slot I didn't like (like that chef from the Marker) I'd listen to Claire for a bit. Now I cant listen to her or David Mc (he's brutal) so I find I'm just listening to Podcasts in the background now. I'm looking forward to Pats weekend show, hopefully its good.
Same here. I find both CB and DMC's offerings very flat and often just plain boring. Pat Kenny was on a different level and hopefully his new weekend programme will maintain the same standard.

I agree about PK but he's a once in a generation talent and he won't be coming back to this slot.
On the LLS thread there are still posters pining for the late lamented Gay Byrne.
CB was always a safe pair of hands at RTE and is carrying on in a similar vein in NT.
I think DMC is cut from the same cloth as Sean O'Rourke. Loads of serious background knowledge but not the same spark as PK.
As for podcasts, they have their place but for me they will never replace live radio.
I enjoy the variety ,immediacy and the unexpected turns an interview might take.
You won't get breaking news on a podcast.

This programme has become so dumbed down since Pat Kenny vacated the slot. Bubble gum radio. I find it unlistenable. On Friday last I listened to David McCullough untill 12 then switching over to News talk for the Weekly review. Awful stuff: "So - what will you be watching this weekend?"
