Assuming the Dems win the presidency in 2028, who the GOP decide to run against them in 2032 will be very telling. Ideally, absolutely nobody involved in enabling or defending Trump should even be a viable candidate in 2032, but we'll see. After Trump, hopefully the GOP will begin the long transition back to the type of party that used to nominate McCain and Romney.

If not, America risks a future where it keeps swinging between serious, law-abiding leadership and complete chaos, depending on which party holds the White House.

Could be argued theyre allegations and not evidence, but I know what you mean.

No smoke without fire imo, but "hey look over there".

    Niccolò Machiavelli :

"To ally with great powers to defeat your neighbour is a strategic trap; if you win, you become the slave of the greater power; if the allied power is defeated, you remain alone and defenceless against the angry neighbour, and you are destroyed." - Niccolò Machiavelli

In the case of the rich & powerful, I think it rarely gets to the stage that the accusation even becomes public - that it's quashed through intimidation, payoffs or simply being discrete. It's only the ones who are so prolific or brazen that their tracks can't be covered up who face any real consequences.

Even then, if you look at Andrew, he's not facing much real consequences. He's been given a house which (after renovations) would be considered a dream home by most of the public, enough money to live on comfortably which he can top up with inevitable business activities out in the middle east where his misdeeds won't be given a second thought. Ghislaine Maxwell - neck deep in the shtt - has a very nice arrangement in her new minimum security prison.

People of that level, even when they do face consequences, they too often face a very diluted form of them. Maxwell's doing 20 years in Club Fed, while some poor so-and-so is doing a life term in max-sec for breaking the three strike rule after being caught with a pound of weed.

it will be interesting to see this all about when it comes to light, when someone sees what this document is. What country is involved ?

It is a very dangerous moment in American history. The US is in gradual decline. Nostalgic catchphrases such as MAGA are simple and attractive.
The US has an incredibly powerful military but the limits of that power to achieve the outcomes they desire has been shown time and again in Iraq, Afghanistan etc.

There will probably be more introspection and scapegoating within US society and that’s where the MAGA movement will appeal to many Americans because it is easier than confronting new and challenging realities.

Oh what a tangled web she weaves…

To call this a smoking gun would be an understatement.

The whole point of Trump is that he allows people to be who've they've always been no need to hide the racism, misogyny and homophobia anymore.

If he doesn't hide those characteristics, why should his staff or followers?

Mod - tweets and allegations aren't proof of wrong doing, some defamatory posts deleted. Also a reminder that you shouldn't reply to this on thread, PM if you have any queries.

I was struck by the playing of ode to joy and projection of eu flag onto the arch at opening ceremony last night. I thought that was much more notable than the booing.

Of course it’s also funny that the orange one really wants an arch too.

There will always be about 20% to 30% of voters who are MAGA zealots, at least while Trump is still alive. But I think more and more Republican leaning voters are starting to associate MAGA with broken promises. They elected Trump because he said he would bring down prices, and instead they are seeing prices going up, skyrocketing healthcare costs, all while Trump is spending money trying to buy Greenland and building ballrooms and monuments. I think this is why the GOP are facing a terrible time at the mid-terms which hopefully might convince some of the more moderate senior party members to start to turn their back on MAGA. But we really have to wait for Trump to exit the stage to see how enduring MAGA really is. JD Vance hasn't a hope of being able to lead that movement. Trump's advantage is that he is a showman (when he's not half asleep) but Vance is a charisma vacuum and quite unlikable.

You are right but we somehow live in a time where some pedos, sex offender's or those caught with terrible images/videos can get suspended sentences. Mad world today.

Possibly the last chance trump and Putin have to force Ukraine into a bad deal. I hope they fail and I hope the democrats who support Ukraine win those mid terms.

June or any deadline is no good 4 Ukraine, Russia just has to keep stalling as they have been, maybe a deal was done in Alaska.

Europe's security at risk if Russia gets Ukraine and they have kept Europe out of any negotiations thus far.

He was stopping the Ukrainian invasion in a day....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,320 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Yeah. Considering Russia are struggling to advance could you imagine how quickly they'd come to the table to settle if trump started sending weapons on par or exceeding European levels of aid. Russia only understands power. You'd not be long seeing them agreeing to give up parts of Ukraine excluding Luhansk, Donetsk and Crimea.

There are many with a different view. What's your point?

Most of his supporters will say it wasn't racist. What does that mean?

As for his reasons? '...he was nice to me so he can't possibly to mean to anyone..' its nonsense. He asks where are the tapes when he is literally commenting on one!

Republicans trying to pass the SAVE Act which would require Voter ID proving citizenship to vote. Since there is a 60 vote threshold to force a vote on legislation (other than budget reconciliation which uses 51 votes - thats how Obamacare was passed), the Republicans are threatening to use a "Voice Fillibuster" to get around this. Senator Rick Scott wants that as does Rep. Anna Paulina Luna. However the Senate Majority Leader John Thune has been noncommittal on this.

Unfunny “comedian” trump grifter supports trump.
    Shocking!

really odd take when the elections he has glossed over is an attempt by trump to block people of certain ethnicity from voting.

Trump is nearly at North Korea levels of control.

    Monuments to the leader

    Media censorship.

Everyone is afraid him in his party.

Threats to sue everyone out of existence for anything critical including it seems it has boards worried with the moderation of the thread.

    Plans to rig elections.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,207 ✭✭✭innuendo141

Yes, a very embarrassing and moronic take which will no doubt come back to bite him on the arse in the future and he will (try to) walk it back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,872 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Trump is racist, but this guy obviously allows for his racism because he benefits elsewhere.

All trump voters seem to have to play that same act, allow for some of his awfulness because it benefits them elsewhere (mainly the rich getting richer, the racists get to racist).

Will they still love him when he & his white supremacists staffers start using the N word in public

    Devastating news....

Kid Rock has cancelled his MAGA festival "Rock the Country" after 12 of the 15 artists scheduled to perform dropped out, including Ludacris, Creed, and Shinedown.
