And once it's clear he won't get the Nobel Peace Prize he'll stop putting effort in.

    He was putting in effort?

He was pretending to put in the effort by affixing his name beside anything «Peace» related or «Peace» adjacent. Even then we was barely putting in much effort in the pretending part by not bothering to remember the correct names of countries or taking the time to select things that could possibly be attributed to him or the US itself. Donnie does not give a flying feck about Peace or frankly the fate of any person apart from himself.

«Effort» is also not in Donnie’s dictionary. This is why his calendar is padded with «Executive Time» where he essentially dosses off while watching Network TV while his gaggle of in-house toadies use Gen-AI to print out BS Tariff lists that make little sense. His effort goes into posting on his Tesco-Value Twitter about what he’s upset about today.

After next Friday I fully expect his «effort» will involve a storm of FULL CAPS Tesco-Value Tweets about how Norway sucks and that the Nobel Peace Commitee should change it’s mind now or there will be Tariffs or other BS that just goes to show how childish and self-involved he is. The winner, whomever it is, will be denounced as a DEI Marxist MSDNC Communist lib who is the devil.

This could really hurt Trump in Deep Red Republican rural states. Im not saying they would vote Democrat, but many could stay at home, and some might vote for them in protest.

The Iowa senate race is one to watch. This state was a swing state until 2016. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst is retiring. She had low approval ratings, especially after she said "we are all going to die" when questioned about health cuts in a townhall. But still, she had the advantage of incumbency, and sitting senators are usually returned.

I just heard a news reporter asking the question, "Why are Republicans depicting Democrats as wearing sombreros". That is the state of political discourse in that country right now. I don't see how honest decent Americans are ever going to get over the embarrassment of this joke of an administration.

You're assuming that it has an end. The system favours Republicans and this is the Republican party as it truly is. Time was, they'd wear suits and impersonate decent people. Now, they act like a load of entitled, toxic children. Trump will die soon but the transformation he has wrought will endure for some time. It will likely take some kind of catastrophe to reverse it.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has fired Navy chief of staff Jon Harrison, one of his top aides who had been helping him with his unprecedented reorganization of the Pentagon's bureaucracy. The sudden sacking of a loyal higher-up at the Defense Department, now the Department of War, was initially confirmed by two defense officials and a former defense official who spoke to Politico.

The Pentagon later confirmed his departure, saying in a statement, 'He will no longer serve as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Navy.' 'We are grateful for his service to the Department,' it added.

Edit. from the Hindustan Times and Politico:

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has made his first major move since the Quantico meeting earlier this week. The 45-year-old Trump ally fired Navy chief of staff Jon Harrison. The Politico cited two defense officials and a former defense official to report that the ouster comes after the confirmation of Navy undersecretary Hung Cao. Harrison is yet to comment.

Reports speculate that Harrison and Navy Secretary John Phelan's sweeping changes to policy and budgeting could be behind Hegseth's move. Politico previously reported that the two reassigned several aides ‘who were supposed to help Cao navigate the role once he’s confirmed’.

“They had also planned to interview all future military assistants for Cao to ensure decisions came from the secretary’s office,” the publication added.

Cao was nominated by President Trump. He is a Navy veteran and a former Republican Senate candidate in Virginia.

In other news which shows the U.S Govt keeps up normal discourse with the Canadian Govt despite their heads of Govt tossing words around, The U.S is proceeding with an arms sale to Canada of 26 HIMARS rocket launcher systems to Canada, in a deal valued at approximately $1.75 billion.

According to the US State Department, the purchase strengthens cooperation between the two countries and contributes to NATO’s objectives, without altering the military balance in the region. The approval follows a recent decision that also allowed Australia to acquire units of the same system, amid growing demand for advanced military technologies among US allies.

This is the issue with the unwavering support of Trump by the rank and file.

In order to avoid fascism, there are two steps.

First, the hope that illegal orders aren't made.

Secondly, if they are, that they aren't followed.

Before Trump, you didn't need to worry about the first. Now, that is taken as a given that he will issue such orders.

So then we have to place our faith in the rank and file. However, Trump has already told the military, if they don't like what he says, there's the door, along with your pension. So you have the military threatened with their livelihood when faced with obeying the order or not.

Our friend here may be such an officer, but statistically, there must be thousands that will bend, either willingly or unwillingly.

    And that is the problem.

Brian Karem, Salon.com reporter who famously asked Trump at the first of his Covid-related pressers what Trump would say to people who were worried and got the reply, "That's a nasty question," filed a FOIA request for the records seized by the FBI during the Mar-a-Lago top secret documents case that were eventually returned. The DOJ said, 'Sure, as soon as you lodge a $50,000 bond." Karem's lawyers said, "WTAF? Not how it works."

Still, it might be making CFTrump squirm, that document's case was deliberately sabotaged by that judge Cannon (no doubt on the shortlist for a SCOTUS appointment) and should have gone to trial, it was obvious what had happened.

Which is illegal. A President has to be dead for 2 years before they can be put on currency.

There is a law against it, but few enough people (not least Congress) seem bothered about enforcing the law on the Executive branch.

Only $1? Wouldn't you think someone as important as Trump would be on at least a $10 coin?

'They can't do that, it's against the law' no longer applies unfortunately, with a Congress that isn't interested in holding him to account.
