Did you drive one without the stalk? It seems a mental block for most people. Anyone I talked to that owns one does not have any issues with it. And you can get those aftermarket stalks I guess
Personally it wouldn't bother me either way, but I can see it upset some people so much that they did not buy a car. The blame for which is entirely on Tesla. Saving a few cents backfired on them this time.
I read that it was having issues in some markets, such as in Norway you weren’t allowed learn to drive or give a lesson to someone with a stalkless model 3 - which is fair enough imho.
If roundabouts didn’t exist, no car would have an indicator stalk :)
But roundabouts exist, so …..
Yes. I do agree that you “get used” to it but it wasn’t for me.
I also drive the Model S in America when the yoke wheel first came out. Got used to it but not my cup of tea personally.
It didn’t stop me buying one as I’d never buy new anyway but still.
I could live with no stalks, but having just 1 is something I couldn't do with the Juniper. Ditto for the new M3 with stalk. Thankfully, the hardwire gear shifter can be got for I think around 250-300 quid which fixes that oddity. Not that I plan selling my Juniper anytime soon, but I think having 2 stalks will make it an easier sell.
So we should expect battery failures for all fast charging EVs now?
Honestly I have no idea on that.
I made my comment because studies have shown that the batteries in very high mileage Teslas (250K+ km) have significantly less degradation than was originally anticipated, even when exposed to high levels of DC charging. Aggressive battery management plays a significant part of that. I would assume most of the manufacturers are all over this at this stage.
I've been waiting for this. It looks like its just the app in the car for now. Not something I'd even bother installing to be honest. But once it starts integrating with the cars functions, things are going to get interesting.
I hope this comes to other models. As someone who lives in 19th century Ireland (we get a LOT of powercuts), I'd use this quite regularly. Cable in the window to keep my WFH setup running.
Get PV with a home battery. And if you have regular power cuts in your area, get a transferswitch too. With a powerful system you can run your entire home on battery for days on end and power cuts will no longer affect you.
I have PV and a battery. No switch because at the time of installation they were blocking the grant if you had one.
I've asked the installer about getting one now, after the installation and grant. It was the usual sucking through the teeth and an extortionate quote of "around" €1,000. I'm guessing about 3 hours work max? That's some money.
But yeah you're right, this is the way to go really and to be honest I didn't shop around or pursue it any further.
Maybe try them again for a price and this time, suck through your teeth and say you'll make sure your review is a good one if they can fit the switch for a reasonable fee. 😁
It took me posting an honest review for my solar installer to call me very soon after and finally get a mess sorted they had ignored for months.
You might be better off getting another sparks to do it though.
New product announcement coming 7th Oct.

presumably the stripped down Y.
Or the YXL or the M2.
Surely the E41 stripped down Model Y. I’ll predict a price of 39k here.
the roadster is finally coming….
there’s lots of pics doing the rounds of the camo stripped-down Y, which seems like an obvious thing to then press release.
The video of the propeller looked like a plastic hubcap imho.
If they announce anything else and people will call absolute BS on it - yet again.
The model 2 was confirmed as canned over 18 months ago - musk has no interesting in selling cars, so stripping out cost from the Y and extending production to end of life seems up his street, and hope the robo stuff takes off before that.
The very last thing Tesla wants to do right now is build another wholly new model like the 2.
O
Refreshed X, S, semi, Cybertruck and roadster 🥳
so what if people call BS on it if its something else, despite your repeated protestations the share price is thriving….
I agree with you tho it is probably the stripped out Y.
Apparently it's a European-friendly Cybertruck that will be coming in at just under €60k.
I never protest the SP rising. while equities is my job I don’t actually care at all about stocks like Tesla, i merely point out that it’s not rising or falling because of anything to do with car revenue.
It trades on public momentum alone
can you even imagine 😂
A whole lotta momentum , just seems to unduly bother you , not sure why !

Pics of the cheaper model Y. I think the front looks slick.
Looks like a glass roof thought it wasn't getting that ?
they’ve got rid of the stuff that made it look like all the other Chinese medium SUVs and simplified it - there’ll be lots of people who prefer this cleaner look.
Probably cheaper to repair and insure too
Nice clean look.
Actually resembles a Tesla now and the Highland cues are all there finally.
If this ends up being cheaper I reckon it will be a big hit.
I am thinking of getting a Model 3 from NI. Too much palaver getting one from the UK. With prices being at least 8K less will I still be up at the end after taxes, duties etc.?
Does anyone know what the process is?
I've never been to NI. Scared stiff to be honest. From a family of "volunteers", I'm frightened of getting lynched, if I turn the wrong corner. My only saving grace is that I was educated in the UK so I can shift between Oxford English and Begorrah English in seconds but then I don't want to get lynched by my own crown either!
Best not to drive your southern reg car to NI. Get the train from Dublin, but leave enough time for delays due to possible bombs on the line. If you do drive, make sure you check your boot for subversives before you leave.
Post a link to the car you’re looking at?
There’s not many M3’s on UsedcarsNI currently.
