All I will say on the MY spacesaver kit is that annoyingly it doesn't fit in the lower compartment of the boot. You have to modify the compartment dimensions to get it in. Other than that, it's a no-brainer I think.
I've got used to the idea of having no spare wheel. Since we moved to Nissan Leaf 8 years ago, we have only had one incident where my OH was distracted and clipped the kerb, blowing the side wall. The supplied liquid kit wouldn't have sone the job, nor would a plug. A replacement tyre was needed and I got the car towed and sorted a new tyre the next day.
I keep a compressor and plugs in the cars, as most punctures will be repairable this way, on the side of the road. I would only consider bringing a spare on a long road trip outside of Ireland. I keep a spare for the Leaf and may do the same for the Y when I get a chance to source one. I know I will probably never need it, but it's insurance for the very few international journeys I will do.
Same. I have a full size spare wheel, but only for the Tesla Model S. Not for the other cars. Never bring it with me though.
Seriously considering a Model S.
Do all the 2017 Model S have enhanced autopilot?
Also, how would I tell if it has free SuC if the dealer hasn't listed it, or doesn't know?
If buying private, get the seller to open the app and it will be listed in there under the spec.
Better take it to the Model S thread. All facelift Model S had autopilot as standard, only some cars have EAP (basically summon and overtaking) and FSD is very rare
Yeah you recommended the plugs to me earlier in the thread. I've a set of those in the car now, thanks. It's for incidents that can't be repaired.
I think I'll get the slime stuff too in case there's a hole I can't find.
I think a spare wheel at home is a good option. Get a lift, pick up the wheel and back to the car. I'll probably go for a full size if I'm not carrying it in the car.
We're a one car family, living rurally. Being stuck without a car is a complete disaster.
Also, sods law says if I buy all this gear a puncture will never happen 😄
Quick question on Tesla UK warranty: If I buy a 2/3 year old Model Y from the UK/NI will the 4 year UK warranty still apply here? Normally warranties tend to be pan European. Google's AI answer initially said it did not apply. Just checking with people that have experience in this, am assuming it would be fine. Thanks
Yes. Everything transfers. I’ve bought 3 from UK and had warranty work here.
Great, thanks for that !
I am assuming you are aware that there is a big financial difference in bringing a car form the UK comapred to Northern Irealand. Uk import will attract 23% VAT on registering where whereas no VAT from Northern Ireland as long as it was registered there for about 6 months….
3 months
Yes thanks, I know about that. Would be coming in from Northern Ireland, or UK to NI to here in whatever way avoids VAT/Duty/VRT
The process where it comes from UK—> NI —> Republic is complicated so make sure you cover all bases. It would need to be through a Dealer and brought in in accordance with criteria of Windsor framework with very specific documentation (More than the V5C) etc
Revenue only define it as a "reasonable period" and no where will it say 3 months. Prudence suggests go for 6 month to remove any ambiguity.
NCT have a revenue letter in the VRT office stating 4 months. It’s on the wall at the public desk.
3 months seem to be the norm though.
What's the craic with Grok? I've come across a couple of videos and wanted to check it out. My SW is up to date on the MYJ, but no Grok. Do we not have it in Ireland?
Not released in the EU yet.
The Grok that came out with a bit of holocaust denial recently? That Grok?
Chances.
Was that a question, or a mini rant? I don't see the relevance either way unless there is something hidden in "Chances". The poster was simply being helpful by answering a question I had asked. Is there something you want to add?
It added alot of context actually to the fairly ignorance is bliss to many people using services that are clearly problematic on any normal measure.
So was it relevant to a query on this service. Yes, yes it was. The person probably previously didn't know the platform has incredibly large scale issues which actually bring into question its usefulness versus harm in adopting it in your family home.
Amazing how a small bit of knowledge can open ones critical considerations....
My family don’t live in my car and I wasn’t asking about the morals of Grok, or any other AI or VA.
I’m more than capable of making up my own mind as to the validity of information provided by any source, including from “reliable” and “trustworthy” outlets.
I note that no alternatives were suggested, but I also didn’t ask for alternatives. I got the answer to the question I asked. That was used as an opportunity to throw in some ideological BS that wasn’t asked for and is tiresome to constantly see.
Feel free to tell yourself all of that.
Your family drive in your car with you. Do your own research on Grok and its really extremely questionable behavior. This isn't a tesla issue so dont take it so personally. But as an LLM is into really nefarious shady stuff nothing to do with ideology so don't make this a political thing as that only displays serious ignorance on this topic.
I wouldn't have that yolk anywhere near my kids.
What's tiring is the excuses people make and the mental gymnastics.
It's currently en route to warsaw funded by mefo bills and promises of autarky
Any advice on cleaning vomit from rear heated seats? Will water or spray damage heating element?
Lofe has gone full circle when its me collecting my father and his friend, both 80+ from a day boozing and his friend gets sick in the back of my car 😀😀😀😀.
You need one of those fabric cleaner hoovers. You can rent them including the chemical cleaner.
Had this issue with ours and ours has perforated leather heated seats... kids !
Came up a charm though. Also known as a spot cleaner
ok, might be as easy send to a pro for valet so
In the context of the question as to whether Grok would be available in the EU, it was neither a question or a 'mini-rant'. It was a rhetorical question based on the fact that the EU Commission are currently talking to X about the AI's unfortunate lapse into holocaust denial. In view of that, the 'chances' of its approval in the EU might be considered slim.
That these talks were reported within the last fortnight led me to believe that people would already know about them. Hence the rhetorical nature of the question.
Does that address your questions about relevance and adding to the discussion?
I don’t need to tell myself what I already know. Your opinion is just an opinion and I haven’t formed an opinion on Grok or any LLM, as I haven’t used any of them with the small exception of what shows up in google searches. Nor did I ask for peoples opinions on them, biased, or properly informed.
I only asked about Grok, because I spend several hours per week in a Tesla and was curious to check it out for myself, for entertainment value. I wouldn’t be having my kids use any LLM, but I would be more concerned about the new primary education curriculum being rolled out on them, or their friends having unsupervised internet access on their phones from as young as 6.
No mental gymnastics going on in my posts just in case you were suggesting otherwise. Just calling out another unwanted rant which is absolutely politically and ideologically motivated based on the other posters posts with regard to Tesla/Musk etc. it wasn’t an isolated opinion piece. That’s what’s tiring.
I asked was it available in Ireland. I didn’t ask what it was like, or why it might not be approved by the EU dictate. So, your context was off the mark.
A lot has gone on in the news in the last fortnight. Discussions by the morality police on an LLM weren’t on my radar.
You have answered my follow-up question. Thanks.
Shock horror, a free LLM AI tool makes a mistake!
I use AI dozens of times a day for work and personally. Anyone who doesn't understand these tools are far from perfect and takes anything they come up with as the truth, is simply an ignorant fool. BTW I do not currently use Grok as I find it inferior to ChatGPT.
Perplexity Pro is on a free 12 month trial. Any use to you?
AI is in so many cars, including BYD through its gods eye system.
