Where does he/they think the recruiters can get so many English speaking IT specialists who will get past the feral street gangs out legally profiling the average human on the street and in the workplace? You don't speak/look like an American, get in the van - we're not people traffickers, we're ICE agents.

    Maggie's government redefined unemployment.

Out of something like 27 or 30 changes only 3 didn't reduce the number of jobseekers.

So how close is the US to a cross between the handmaid's tale and the purge movie franchise right now? It's horrifying and fascinating at the same time to watch a country destroy itself in real time all for a third rate rapist conman. Sending thoughts and prayers for those checks and balances to come save the day any minute now.

When one has little faith in the top strand of the U.S judiciary to perform for the people and not for the strand that they are supposed to keep on the straight and narrow, thoughts and prayers seem such a slender thread to cling to.

    Nothing to see here 🙄

In an undercover operation last year, the FBI recorded Tom Homan, now the White House border czar, accepting $50,000 in cash after indicating he could help the agents — who were posing as business executives — win government contracts in a second Trump administration, according to multiple people familiar with the probe and internal documents reviewed by MSNBC.

The FBI and the Justice Department planned to wait to see whether Homan would deliver on his alleged promise once he became the nation’s top immigration official. But the case indefinitely stalled soon after Donald Trump became president again in January, according to six sources familiar with the matter. In recent weeks, Trump appointees officially closed the investigation, after FBI Director Kash Patel requested a status update on the case, two of the people said.

It’s unclear what reasons FBI and Justice Department officials gave for shutting down the investigation. But a Trump Justice Department appointee called the case a “deep state” probe in early 2025 and no further investigative steps were taken, the sources say.

Trump posted the following on Truth Social.
Apparently meant to be a DM to Pam Bondi.
Corruption and malfeasance in the open, or at least it is when he forgets the difference between a DM and a public post.

Gallup poll: Socialism viewed more favourably than unfavourably among Democrats, by a 36% margin. However among all adults, its viewed more negatively by 18% margin. Capitalism is viewed more positively than negatively by a 12% margin among all adults. But capitalism among Democrats is viewed negatively by a 13% margin, compared to positively by 8% in 2010. 54% of Americans support capitalism, while 39% do not. Thats down from 61% supporting it in 2010. Support for Socialism has risen from 36% to 39%. Just 42% of Democrats view capitalism positively, while 51% of Independents do.

Where is the poll showing the percentage of Americans who understand what these two terms actually mean?

Looks like ABC are trying to persuade Kimmel to return, provided he "tones down" criticism of Trump. About 9 minutes in. ABC/Disney facing pressure from cancellations.

That has already been debunked. In fact she wound up paying more for the second mortgage. The guy making the allegation is a mega moron who has made the same allegations against numerous Democrats.

Several members of the Trump administration seem to have done the same thing as she did in buying multiple houses and declaring one of them to be their primary residence for mortgage purposes. This is rank hypocrisy.

Forget about members of the Trump admin. Trump himself was found guilty of fraud and his supporters waved it away as 'everyone does it'.

If she did this then surely she is just being smart?

Reports that ICE pulled a firefighter fighting forest fires in Washington state off the job.

Also Trump imposing a $100,000 charge on the highly skilled H1B1 visa.

Key provisions of the 2018 farm bill are set to expire at the end of the month, with many farmers facing a gap in federal support until President Trump’s proposed replacement bill takes effect late next year. The looming lapse comes as US farmers warn they are nearing a breaking point, squeezed by volatile weather, rising costs, and the lingering impact of Trump’s tariffs

"There would be no Silicon Valley without H1B visas."

It existed and grew for decades long before H1B was a feature of their hiring. Of course it would continue to exist and grow. There are plenty of qualified non-H1B's for these jobs.

In your example, it's less than 5% of Microsoft employees in the US - so, about the size of one of their lesser RIFs. Google's about 9.5%.

One last thing: the employers you listed, make eyewatering profits. If there were a substantial increase in labor costs (doubtful, people in tech in the US need jobs), they could cope. All subjective as we don't know what the salary differences are for H1B if any, which I am not asserting. Simply saying, hire more Americans that are qualified, H1B was intended for very limited use and is being abused.

These farmers would still vote for Trump but they want a little bit of socialism thrown their way to tie them over until the winning type of capitalism returns.

Shower of pricks. They can lose the lot. Trumps billionaire buddies will arrive to buy up the foreclosures for 10cents on the dollar and these clowns can go about the rest of their life hating immigrants who staffed their farms and libs trying to take away their guns.

One of the biggest transfers of wealth in the history of the US is about to take place.

If he starts to prosecute his enemies we are heading for the realm of a dictator with show trials and locking up anyone who show any chance of beating him or his hand picked placement.

    Similar to Putin.

I reckon he is determined to find a way to cancel the next set of elections and stay on as president.

Is there a possibility of these HIB visas being sent home and being involved in setting up similar businesses to challenge the US ones . Every ‘big thing ‘ started out Asan ‘acorn seed ‘ once after all

Anything's possible. Huge American companies have non-competes and giant amounts of lawyers. I'd say the odds of what you're saying occurring are infinitesimal.

    Non Competes are utterly uninforceable.

Intellectual property theft is of course different, but they'd have zero chance of stopping anyone taking a job elsewhere.

Quite apart from the obvious issues, this message shows how Trump thinks and talks with people he talks to regularly, trusts, and who are on the same side as him. 'They impeached me twice, etc', 'our reputation and credibility' and his lengthy, made-up 'quote' about 'everyone' saying exactly what he would want them to say - most internal memos would be a minimum, bare statement of what was necessary, not the stump speech that he is making here.

Oddly, though, it has a lot of long words for someone who can't read!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,054 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Reported today that Trump is firing the man who was supposed to go after James, because he confirmed that he couldn't bring charges as there was no evidence.

So I guess that means the MAGA talking points are boll0x yet again.

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

It would make you wonder what kind of communications are going on via truth social. I'm guessing security standards are far laxxer than ordinary social media sites so a breach could end up a national security incident. 😂
