    Its still mind boggling that the yanks had 4 years of this already and 70m+ of them said "Yes, more please". Trump being a cretin, easily manipulated and driving the world to catastrophe is not new news.

    It wouldn't shock me at all if we learn that this "ceasefire" is entirely about trying to claim the Nobel. I wonder how he'll feel when Bibi pisses all over this and strikes Iran anyway. For Bibi, he needs an enemy to point to in order to save his own damned skin, and Iran will fit the bill for the forseeable. Donnie is very much the junior partner in that relationship (amoung others).

    Donnie, using extreme violence to get a ceasefire doesn't get you a Peace Prize you self interested nitwit! If that were the case Truman would have gotten one for using nukes on Japan.

    He's going to go absolutly spare in October when the actual Peace Prize winner is announced.

    was listening to BBC 2 Newsnight last night. Retired US ambassador to NATO , Kurt Volker,, was being interviewed on the US /Iran situation. Up till now and depending on who you you listen to IRAN we’re said to be only :-

    -a year or two away from being able to put a nuclear bomb together

    • then they were only months away
    • And then that was reduced to being only weeks away
    • Then they were only days away
    • And the above reduced it to ONLY AFEW HOURS away.

    He suggested that if the US did not attack the Iran nuclear bomb producing sites , when it did, that the Iranians were working day and night to produce a nuclear bomb within hours - or words to that effect


    it reminds me of the weapons of MASS DISTRUCTION that Sadam Hussain - of Iraq fame - was said to have had but he had nothing @apart from was it nerve or mustard gas

    Is he seriously proclaiming that it's all sorted, in a completely over the top and evangelical way or

    is it an inferred threat to sort things out while simultaneously trying to promising both sides prosperity ?

    Can some local "Art of the Deal" explain?

    IMO that statement by Trump was put together having received inputs from his extreme advisors on matters of religion , economics , peace and war , etc, etc, etc, etc,. - from Ted Cruz , to Millar to Tucker.

    Most tellingly the US didn't return fire when Iran hit its bases and then there was a ceasefire.

    Interesting to see if netenyahu pulls back the idf from Gaza.

    Well, it will be nice if you're right. But the last ceasefire he brokered collapsed fairly quickly, and his promises to broker a ceasefire in Ukraine have been quietly buried, so this is an area in which the man is definitely out of his depth. As I post, I see a headline that the Isaelis have just ordered more attacks on Iran, claiming that they are doing so because Iran has violated the ceasefire. And, honestly, are we in the least bit surprised at this?

    Tl;dr: I wouldn't rush to hail the greatness of Trump's acheivement here just yet if I were you. It might make you look a bit credulous.

    Yeah- Trump is excellent at making noise and grabbing headlines- he’s not at all good at slow diplomacy or patient negotiation - he doesn’t know how to do that- as a result, we’re guaranteed that there will be no lasting peace in Ukraine, in Gaza or indeed Iran under his reign as dictator of America

    Amazing you posted this at a time when we have reputable news sources such as the BBC is reporting things like:
    The chief of the general staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says the military will "respond with force" to what it calls Iran's "severe violation".

    So what ceasefire "is in place"?

    'Another foreign success'. A vague claim made without any details, so you can't be pinned down on it, because you know you can't stand over it.

    Objectively self discrediting.

    I guess this is what Trump is aiming for, take their news from Trump's blowhard claims on social media instead of the reality on the ground.
