Yep. Best outcome is both Israel and Iran loose.
But Iran has been so diminished in the last week, not a chance they can do anything to supply Russia now.
Unfortunately Russia still has North Korea, which on the surface appears to be a very secure country.
The Russians have been shown yet again to be a completely unreliable “ally”
We seen it in Armenia, Africa, Syria and now Iran
And China to some degree, which is by far the most important ally.
Still, first Assad in Syria and now perhaps Iran significantly weakened - hasn't been a good year for Russia and its position in the Middle East
Don't forget the Wagner group (now owned by the Russian state) running with their tail behind their legs from Mali due to being beaten by an local milita driving around on dirt bikes. Of course according to Russian propaganda "they won and are now leaving" when the reality on the ground is the exact opposite. That's one big grifting operation loss for them and their failure to deliver is likely to lead to further missed opportunities.
Russia have to stay neutral given Putin's upcoming role as mediator in the negotiations.
Russia should offer Iran security guarantees in exchange for their nuclear weapons and uranium
After all it worked out great for Ukraine and Russia will never invade its neighbour
/s
Aren't the Iranian designed drones used by actually built in Russia?
Btw, Israel was weapons guidance system supplier to Russia and after the crimea annexation Israel suspended weapons related exports to kyiv at Putin's request.
Dig a bit and you'll find netenyahu is descended from Russian Jews who are overrepresented in crime in Israel.
Yeah, it seems overly optimistic to suggest that the strikes in Iran will mean fewer drone attacks in Ukraine.
There is an opinion that the drones produced in Russia need some components from Iran, so it is possible.
How many Soviet states broke due to rebellions or insurrections? Zero? Maybe there was one that I have forgotten but brutal crackdowns work. It's how Putin maintains control. Even mentioning the word war in relation to Ukraine can carry a lengthily jail sentence.
As for the Iran/Israel conflict being good for Ukraine... The downside, for Ukraine, is higher oil/gas revenue for Russia.
Was reading that too. Assembled in Russia with Iranian supplied parts.
I suggest a thorough denazification would also be in order, a vow to keep out of any alliance that's a threat to NATO and a withdrawal of their war making resources back to a safe distance in Europe, behind BeloRus, let's say…I think I'm getting the hang of this Medvedev-speak. No need to ask for a reduction in their military, Ukraine is taking care of that as we speak
I can't believe how restrained the Ukrainians have been in relation to the nonsensical demands of the Russians for a ceasefire or peace deal. The latest demand seems to be that Ukraine destroy all western produced arms.
I'd have responded with a glib "and I demand Vladimir Putin's barbequed cock in a hotdog bun as a prerequisite for further talks" but clearly the Ukrainian politicians are better people than me...
Yet another nail in the coffin of the argument that was made few pages back that went along the lines of “why don’t Ukrainians just handover a few fields in Donbass and there be peace”
Russians are not remotely interested in peace
Netanyahu headed the Israeli side of a smuggling ring that illegally obtained and exported Krytron tubes from the US - essential components in nuclear weapons triggers, allowing Israel to build it's nuclear weapons.
Even the PM of Israel is a criminal under US laws.
Not the first time someone didn’t check the basics, won’t be the last last.
The Russians are importing some piston and jet engines for the Shaheds they themselves make, from Iran, but It's my understanding that is mainly to maximise production volumes and is to supplement those China make, so I believe Orcistan can get all the components for Shaheds, just not in the volumes they would like.
No doubt the Chinese will rise to the challenge and increase production should imports from Iran drop.
Interesting detail on how Ukraine hit the Orc Shahed factory in Tartarstan a couple days ago:
As someone who has flown sailplanes, this makes me slightly sad.
The production volumes of Shaheds is a real worry. I think Ukraine needs fixed wing high speed FPV drones with shotguns that can down multiple Shaheds per flight and are re-usable. Using F-16s and $472,000 a pop AIM-9X sidewinders doesn't seem like a sustainable solution when they can make 170 a day and probably 190 by years end.
Nah; they need Sweden to pull the thumb out and have them send over Loke systems and blueprints to Ukraine.
Not only is it cheap using existing off the shelf equipment standard equipment; it's exactly the style of weapon Ukraine could build locally with in months.
There is likely a bit more to it than that.
Some veteran intelligence operators think it's well past time to shift the narrative on Trump's disturbing affinity for Putin, which the president insists is innocent and good for world peace. "Everyone continues to dance around a clear assessment of what's going on," says Glenn Carle, a former CIA national intelligence officer responsible for evaluating foreign threats. "My assessment," he tells Newsweek, "is that Trump is actually working directly for the Russians."
Note Krasnov's true nature was clearly apparent during his first term.
It's going to be interesting to see whether the manual recount of votes, a court just ordered, turn up signs of election tampering - this was triggered by finding severe statistical anomalies such as not a single vote for Harris in at least one district, something that sounds very Russian.
A New York judge has ordered a full hand recount of all presidential and state Senate ballots in Rockland County following claims of major voting irregularities, including one district where Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly received zero votes.
An IT geekish proposal on the election tampering: https://thiswillhold.substack.com/p/she-won-they-didnt-just-change-the
Unfortunately, I think your Commander In Chief is a Russian agent.
Good man Putin stab another one of your few “allies” in the back

Ukrainians must be pissing their holes laughing now
Australia supplied Ukraine with around 120 Slinger systems over a year ago:
I suspect tight operational security is in place regarding reporting on their use, because despite looking, I haven't found anything. This was the case with the IRIS-T arriving in Ukraine at least 2 years before any images of a battery surfacing.
One of the main reasons for my proposal for fixed wing interceptor drones is that the Orcs have now started flying drones at up to 5,000m altitude to avoid losses from ground fire.
Looks like the Ukrainians may be on to it already:
Are you not familiar with Hanlon’s Razor?
They obviously put red and white stripes on top of the blue-tinted US flag background. You can see the vertical tone separation even “within” the ‘Russian Flag.’
I doubt Trump is a Russian agent. “Useful idiot” may be a more realistic term, but he didn’t come up with the image any more than the leader of Iran was associated with whoever chose Irish Rail as a campaign poster background.
So tense I almost didn't notice the music. You probably want the sound on for this one.
But you have to get power over a nation before you can have a crackdown. If UA could disrupt Russian control long enough they could really cause them a headache. Think French Resistance rather than Russian republic. Also, even in Russia, Ukrainian operatives are doing a lot even as things stand.
@cnocbui "I suspect tight operational security is in place regarding reporting on their use, because despite looking, I haven't found anything."
They never seem to say much about Australian stuff. Australia has been sending lots of cardboard suicide drones over the course of the war but I have never seen any video of them. Maybe the Aussies requested secrecy?
Could well be. I did find this after making that post:
Germany has significantly expanded its military support for Ukraine, delivering a fresh shipment of weapons, vehicles, and humanitarian supplies over the past four weeks — with even more advanced air defense systems and drones on the way, according to an update from OSINT tracker German Aid to Ukraine on April 17.The latest deliveries include hundreds of drones, anti-tank weapons, armored vehicles, surveillance systems, and thousands of artillery shells. It also includes 4 Kinetic Defense Vehicles (KDV), a new product of the German defense industry. It was first presented less than a year ago, in February 2024, at the Enforce TAC exhibition. The KDV is based on the chassis of a Mercedes-Benz G pickup truck, which is equipped with a remote-controlled Slinger (R400S) turret from the Australian company Electro Optic Systems with a 7.62×51 mm minigun.

Now whether this is one of the Slingers Australia supplied, or whether Germany bought them to make this system I don't know, the latter seems more likely, which would suggest that they have proved effective in Ukraine.
Way beyond the point the EU should kick Hungary out or suspend them, cutting them off from receiving so much as 1c from the EU.
Well we know Trump has zero morals. So to continuation.
Agent Krasnov wants his master be let back into the G7.
He said Putin was very insulted by being kicked out and only talks to his puppetboy and serf Krasnov.
The race to complete dictatorship continues in Russia.
Mayoral elections will not take place because people can't be trusted to vote in the United Russia canditates. And different opinions that differ from United Russia are not good for cities. Apparently.
