The failure of the UK and the US to live up to their commitments in the Budapest Memorendum* represent the greatest argument in favour of nuclear proliferation since Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki.
If the Peace prize is awarded to Putin's pet pervert, it will be forever more known as a badge of cowardice rather than courage.
*yes, I know that by the exact wording of the document it wasn't a binding legal agreement but they have had a clear moral obligation to declare war on Russia for their breach of Ukraine's territorial integrity since 2014.
By not doing so they made it clear to dozens of countries that they need to either directly get nuclear weapons promptly and/or get under the umbrellas of their neighbours
The non proliferation treaty is dead now
Good shot as they say…
Take all Trump and Trump apologist claims of spending billions on Ukraine with a pinch of salt
https://militarnyi.com/en/news/wsj-u-s-redirects-apkws-components-promised-to-ukraine-to-the-middle-east/
funds were allocated and used up to help Ukraine but the final delivery just got redirected
That tweet was deleted, was it about the one Iskander missile launcher being destroyed and two other ones damaged?
Exactly. The smart thing would be to help Ukraine to defeat Russia asap, or at least freeze the war and give Ukraine real security guarantees, which would prevent Ukraine from building its own nuclear weapons. I have heard some people say that's impossible as the Uranium enrichment plants are difficult to hide. Ukraine does not need enriched Uranium, they have poor quality (reactor grade) Plutonium and a lot of it. It's more difficult to make a bomb with Plutonium, but Ukraine has the know-how from the Soviet times.
Ukraine need to forget about America’s help altogether.
Krasnov is not going to change his mind and do anything harmful to his boyfriend in the Kremlin.
Hegsweth missing yesterday’s meeting tells them all they need to know.
There will be no more funding from America.
In the last few hours Krasnov has blocked the 500% tariff on Russian oil.
He actually rang Putin yesterday, probably to tell him he didn’t know about the Ukraine attack and if he did he would have stopped it.
He’s a treacherous horrible piece of work.
I suspect the Ukrainians have come to that conclusion a year ago before Trump even got elected, if you look at their actions (Kursk, Spiderweb etc) not the official rhetoric whose aim is to
It’s quite clear their strategy been to get European countries more involved and grow domestic industries, both of which they been successful in
They know that Putin is just stringing along Trump with “negotiations”
Any interviews with Ukrainians (especially soldiers) on Ukraine the Latest or Ukrainecast pods or tv news they just shrug at the Trump circus and keep grinding the meat
Speaking of spoiled meat
Birds along the front line are using pieces of fibre optic cable in the nests they are building.
Yes ,the best I am hoping for is for America to not actively and openly take Russia's side with concrete measures.
If Ukraine attempts to develop its own nuclear defense then that may well bring that forward (I don't know how successful it would be in forcing the defeat of Ukraine and ceding it to Russia-it would presumably want its own puppet regime in the West of the country and give the rest to Russia)
Zelenskyy should tell trump about a top secret bogus operation coming up in a specific place and see if the Russians get wind of it.
Their own version of Operation Mincemeat.

Not the first time this sort of thing has happened, and we just had a brief discussion a couple of pages ago about how the US legitimately need to field counter-drone equipment more quickly. I’m sure the Ukrainians are not thrilled, but just like most other powers, the US is looking to its own interests first, here. If this sort of thing follows past precedent, the Ukrainian shipment will be filled by later production.
Operation Wagatha Christie
Don’t get offended when US endsup in yet another war in Middle East or East Asia and European countries reply with “Europe First” arguments along same lines
Isolationist excuses can work both ways
Edit: didn’t you claim that US has the drone defences angle all covered, if that’s the case then why redirect this? Sounds like someone had an “oh ****” moment this week
Look at what the US have done with implementation of the APKWS. It was originally implemented as a 2 aircraft solution, 1 F16 designating a target and tracking it, another launching the rockets.
Now, the system has been modified to allow 2 seat F15 to operate as a single laser designator and launch platform. WSO tracks the targets, pilot launches weapons. Far more efficient.
Now ask yourself who operates the 2 seat F15 and where? Apart from US F15Es, it's Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar operated "Advanced Eagle" (SK & Singapore Operates F15E legacy) and Saudi are fighting Houthis, who are seen by the current US government as more of a threat than a revanchist Russia.
APKWS is an exceptional drone killing platform, it's desperately needed in Ukraine but, it's quite clear the US shift in foreign policy means that it doesn't really matter for US currently.
Hopefully, Ukraine can figure out a way to adapt a similar system to the CRV7 that Canada donated or better yet find a way to install a guidance package on to their own production S8 80mm rockets for a similar capability.
I thought that originally too, that he will try put pressure on both sides to end the war (even if he vastly underestimated how difficult that would be).
He hasn't done that. He is not an honest broker. He clearly has a vested interest in Russia winning the war…….I'm not really sure why, but that's what all the evidence suggests.
America doesn't give a sh it about Ukraine , it's hardly a topic over there at all at this stage. What a find strange and disturbing is the lack of resolve from Europe on the matter. It's in our back yard and yet despite having the capability to help Ukraine crush Russian aggression we sit around and do the bare minimum half hearted token shite.
It's an embarrassment for us all.
I made absolutely no such claim. I said that the US was not where it needs to be, but is ahead of most, if not all, Western countries in getting there.
And if you go into the article you yourself linked, you will see that this decision was made last month.
This is very amusing.
You are underestimating the amount of aircraft which can launch it. Ukraine has used it on HMMWVs and their sea drones as surface launch systems. Army has it fitted to Apaches, the Marines and Czechs have it on Cobras. Jordan has fitted them to a CASA 235. Add to those the USAF aircraft above (plus A-10s)
Trump talking about 'letting Russia & Ukraine fight it out like two kids in the park until they come to their senses'. Such a stupid analogy, would only work if one was the all-Ireland under-12 heavyweight boxing champion and the other was the smallest, frailest child in baby infants…
Money troubles are more likely to end this unjust war than talkfests or diplomacy.
Trumps reference to Ukraine attacking “parked Russian planes” and saying Putin told him he was considering his retaliation suggested Trump believes Ukraine were the aggressor despite the fact that Russia have been blasting civilians in Ukraine for years.
Yes, it seems so.
Does anyone have any updates on the Kerch ? I read about the attack but then nothing.
Looks like they hit the underwater structure pillars or plyons, which is much more difficult to fix and maintain. That's about as much as I know.
Yes I read that but there was talk of further attacks but nothing since.
Kherson civilian administration building completely destroyed, another war crime to add to the list.
