They are there to help identify the high value targets. The more tires, the more expensive the airframe.
Trump called his boyfriend.
NATO estimate 34% of Russia's bomber fleet was hit. Crazy to think a larger operation like this could have wiped out 90% of their missile carrier's.
Countries like the states should learn from this and build hangers for the large number of bombers sitting out in the open.
is. Not just drones but also cruise missiles, it's considered the reason why the tyres were first mounted on aircraft thousands of kilometers from the front line a couple of years ago. Also the painted aircraft silhouettes on the tarmac
French pilots trolling the Russians in the Black Sea earlier
so Putin will “have to respond, strongly”….
So I wonder which hospital, school, apartment block will be getting bombed tonight or whenever they can muster up enough working planes to fire the missiles….
Because they certainly won’t be targeting military targets…
I wonder what Trump thinks about his boss supplying new Su35s and apparently a manufacturing license for the airframe & engines to the Iranians then?
He's not wrong about the state of counter drone defenses being ad-hoc. It seems almost like each branch of service or even each base is trying out its own counter drone systems. Believe it or not, a large part of the delay is also regulatory. The FCC has a few things to say about jamming and the FAA has a few things to say about kinetic effects on aircraft (which includes drones) within the US. We are a a lot a lot more defenseless than we should be due to civilian regulation.
As it happens, I got a CUAS brief this morning (coincidental, it had been planned for some time) and the variety of systems the US Army alone has put into trial service, be they autonomous done interceptors with nets or hijacking systems is intellectuality interesting. The priority of fielding, however, had gone to the field forces, not the bases which are currently really only funded for experimentation and limited capability. Even the field forces aren't where they need to be, but the US is ahead of everywhere else even there.
I expect that the dramatic procurement priority shift Hegseth has ordered should soon see us move out of the evaluation phase and into mass procurement.
To answer the question, no massive changes except for dispersion. Attack drones dropping grenades are the realm of MLIDS and Stout. FPVs can be intercepted by APS, it's the light troops who have the issue. The big problem is an armoured unit being spotted from a mile or two away, by a small UAS we have no idea is out there, or at least cannot affect. They call in artillery on a formation or CP and there is little can be done about it except hope the counter battery folks are on the ball and can limit the damage.
It’s clear Trump has given up getting peace in Ukraine but a pity he won’t blame Putin even though he’s the reason.
Always quick to blame Zelensky though.
sounds like he is reporting to the wife that he had a lovely time on his weeks holidays in the Bahamas or whoever. Did mention foot dragging by Iran but probably had no time to bring up the foot dragging by Putin himself. Also gave Putin carte Blanch to go ahead and bomb the BEJ EAS-S out of Ukr when he did not comment on what Putin said. Of course The report is Trumps interpretation on what went on
He’s now deleted that post!???
Countries like the USA should consider the level of support they are giving to a country that voluntarily gave up its own nuclear deterrence in return for security assurances if they expect to be able to tell other countries what they can or cannot do within their own borders to deter potential aggressors.
Putin will give Trump and Israel a security guarantee that Iran won't build a nuke because he can very very easily, then Trump will get his deal and the nobel prize he craves after he returns the favour.
Trump isn't getting a Nobel prize, no matter how much you fantasies about it. He's not even 6 months in and hasn't gone a week without massive controversies. His handling of Ukraine and global politics in general has pretty much destroyed the reputation of the US for the foreseeable future.
You gonna claim Putin is gonna receive a peace prize next?
So unfair, day one is ages away.
to replenish their stocks. And free to takeaway.
but, but, but...... Putin wears a suit!
@eightieschewbaccy
Brickster: au contraire, Putin will receive the Simon Weisenthal prize for his battling of "Nazis" in Ukraine, and a gold plated 1:20 scale diorama of a Shahed drone and an exploding hospital from the Ayatollah in commemoration of his tireless efforts on behalf of world peace & security!
And he says "thank you for all your great support".
Getting a peace prize for selling out Ukraine would so demean the prize it would never mean much again.
Having 100 burning tyres on the wing of an aircraft surely would do crazy damage on its own
Orc security system, very effective 🤣
lots of planes going up in flames
That wasn't written by Trump, it's 100% an intern. Why? It's not incoherent word salad Bullshít. Orange Bollocks probably cant even comprehend the fact Ukraine has not only crippled a key arm of a US geopolitical opponent but probably demonstrated just how vunerable the US's own arsenal would be vulnerable to such an attack as well.
Nothing like the sight of Vatnik planes getting a Special Decommission Operation!
I havent seen many, "Ukraine will have to respond to this Russian attack " statements from Trump. It clear whose side he is on, give it six more months and the veil will fully slip, it'll be "We will not stand for this aggression, expect a response from Russia "
Everyone is waiting, and the response will be huge, what then, another response from Ukraine, I think Ukraine wants Putin to do something that the EU especially will have no choice but to react to in force
Ukraine and it's allies should be consistently pointing out that the drone attacks were on military equipment and no civilians were targeted
Personally I think we'll see the real Trump in the winter months when Russia want to pause the fighting to rebuild. Putin will offer a ceasefire and if Ukraine refuse Trump will go all out on Zelenski and pull military support until he agrees.
Come summer 2026 Putin will want to make more gains and they'll both blame Ukraine for breaking the crossfire and off we go again. I hope I'm wrong.
All Trump wants is to end the war as quickly as possible to fulfil a campaign promise. He doesn’t care how much land or concessions Ukraine will have to concede. He just views Ukraine as the easier target to bully into submission to accept a deal.
