The Hyundai INSTER sub-compact EV with 355km range will be officially released later this month. It was teased today and based on the CASPER ICE model available in some markets. Thoughts?
a lot of that is driven by the Transporter’s. Most drivers will do 2 runs per day (let’s say Cork to Dublin x2), with 9ish cars per run, so even if a dealer has a dedicated transporter they can only get about 100 cars per week into their hands for pre-delivery work.
Would any of you waiting on cars that are due in soon be tempted to wait till July to register?
No not really, been waiting long enough! Car is registered by dealer on delivery?
Are those 2x 9 cars in the example headed to a single dealership? …or it's 2x 9 per day for the whole of Dublin? :)
I’m not sure, this is how it was explained to me one January when I was trying to get a delivery date for a new car and it was almost a month away - that single dealership had 300+ cars to move from cork to Dublin, had just one transporter assigned to them, and effectively said that the tachometer was the main issue :)
The dealer would only be registering the cars to their new owners, otherwise you’d be the 2nd owner; and only after payment and paperwork, so presumably anyone wanting to wait 4 weeks for a 252 would just arrange a July pickup.
I’ve done it in the past with bmw, picked up in the morning of July 1st
Or to put it another way, not having an overtired driver wiping out a family of five when he falls asleep on the M7 was the main issue.
totally - I’m just explaining that the cars don’t magic their way into dealers, and there is a serious shortage of transporter hours in Dec/Jan and Jun/Jul
Are the delivery dates for particular specs and colour combinations the same regardless of what dealership you buy it through? As in they're all selling the same pool of cars coming into the country? Or does each dealerships have a different selection of models on order, and it's worth ringing around?
Hi from Adelaide Australia. My brand new Inster 42kwh has ?same charging issue ie throttles back to 1.3 kw and stops at around 79% on Zappi charger. Presume ICCU problem also. Manufactured Feb 2026.

There's your problem right there. 🤣
But it's useful to know that they still won't have fixed the problem by next year.
typo man feb 2025 compliance may 2025
finger issues
Perhaps some setting on the Zappi?
Dash cam topic: Did any of you install one? How did you do it please?
If you have the auto dimming mirror you might be able to get a power splitter and connect to the mirror's power supply. Lookup "Dongar 10-Pin Type H Dash Cam Power Adapter", that's the name of the adapter I've used in my Kia EV6. My plan is to check and order one when our Inster is delivered, I expect it should be compatible.
It's a Signature, so regular mirror. Thank you.
I installed one - details here https://www.facebook.com/groups/hyundaiinster/permalink/642547715479791/?app=fbl I have an Elegance and thought about a splitter but didn't want to risk breaking any of the clips on the trim covering the mirror wiring plus I like a neat install and I'm not sure there'd be enough room to hide the adapter.
Thank you. I was hoping there's no airbag in the a-pillar - I wouldn't dare touching it myself.
It seems my only option is getting the dealer do it.
I installed a dashcam in my dad's ev6 using the adapter up to the rear view mirror but I broke clips on the trim and had to buy him a new one. Wasn't expensive but quite easy to break
Yeah I was hoping there was no airbag in the A pillar too as it wasn't mentioned in the manual
but there was definitely one in there!
I read you had to buy him a new one and figured your dads not to be trifled with. 😉
New trim, not new car! Was about 30 euro on Ebay!
He was grand about it.
I'd Inster trim wouldn't be on Ebay!
Is there any difficulty with sticking a toll tag on the left side of the black section, to avoid any further impact on visibility?
Quick question. Does the Elegance model come with a 3 pin plug (Granny) charging by default in Ireland? I get the feeling some dealers are taking them out of the car if they do!
is there not two cables supplied? why take out a granny cable? need it for visit de granny! I thought it was the plug to put a kettle into that was missing from the Irish spec?
Yes the V2L is not on the Elegance model but is on the Cross I think. The Granny cable is worth over €200 so its an easy sell for them online. Just wondering if anyone who has already got an Inster got both cables..
Yes my Elegance came with 2 cables - Granny and Type 2. All bits come in a largish white box, including two tow bars.
I put mine on the right as that’s where you are usually recommended for the receiver to see it best.
On an unrelated note, spotted my first Inster in the wild in Meath. Turned out to be the exact same style and colour (Black) as mine. Cue the Spiderman meme as I waved going the opposite way lol
