That era of Peugeot and Citroen were awful for leaving massive stains in the upholstery
from the slightest spill of anything, no idea what is was but the fabric was just uncleanable.
We used to just replace the seat covers with new ones when getting a used one ready for sale.
A 2012 7 seater grand scenic with NCT til February and Tax til December. Seems a decent spec model too

I've been keeping an eye on 7 seaters for a few weeks and this car was listed in another ad and marked as sold, but came back up again a few days ago (same seller name, just a new ad) not sure what happened.
Inside pics don't look amazing, looks the volume knob isn't there from the photo of seat tray, but if it was driving ok might be a decent buy
Looks like a bit of flash for very small money. Very low advertised mileage, but if it proved accurate then you should have a car for many years.
Road tax €710 is a bit rich and is there some problems with the drivers seat thats being covered by all that junk?
Sent them a message and seems it was just covered by the guy who was servicing the car to keep it clean and they said the leather is like new
08 Avensis 100k kms for €1990. Looks nearly too good to be true. Mileage very low and you'd need to be satisfied that it is legit given that its had 4 owners and 'Ryan' is a dealer on DoneDeal with 9 active adverts with possibly some mixed feedback. Cars are all well turned out
Tax can be high on the petrol cars, definitely worth checking first.
€514 per year
That's the old cc based rate, being a 08 car it might be on the emissions system, it could be 600 or 790. Maybe it was registered in the early part of the year and is 514 as you say, definitely no harm in looking at the tax disc. When he has nothing entered for tax on the Ad I'd be making sure.
I checked the motortax website. Its €514

Won't the odometer readings be on the NCT certs ? plus guys doing milage usually go for a diesel…
Yes and yes. You are hoping the seller will be able to produce the old NCT certs and service receipts which will also have the mileage recorded that way you can build up a history profile.
If the seller can''t produce those and you see/feel a bit too much wear and tear, then its probably fair to assume that the mileage reported is bogus. That's my tuppence worth.
If I was looking for cheap, fairly comfortable trouble free motoring I'd be all over that. Boring as hell but if the mileage is legit and its all kosher their an ideal A to B mile muncher. Paint looks in very good nick too.
If you get a motor check report or similar it will have all the mileage records from previous NCTs
Thanks to you and your post, I fell down a rabbithole on Tuesday looking at E90s and then E91's and ended up buying ANOTHER car on Tuesday evening as if 3 on the drive isn't already enough! 😰
Nope, history checks don’t have access to NCT mileage
That's a lovely car Mike, 3-series estates have always been very handsome well proportioned cars in all iterations, well wear 👍
Do you mind letting us know what kind of deal you got on it? (even if it doesn't strictly meet the definition of 'bangernomic' for this thread)
Thanks. Yeah they're a car that I was initially never really into especially in saloon form, but I suppose because I have the A4 Avant, I always fancied trying a BMW Touring at some stage. It just ticked a lot of boxes for me. The other 3 cars are all pre 2008 and I finally wanted something with cheaper tax, so it's 280 a year and had the timing chain, clutch and flywheel replaced along with receipts and lots of receipts for other work carried out too including new front shocks and springs a few weeks ago and recent full service too. The guy owned it for almost 10 years and had really looked after it. It's high mileage, but that doesn't scare me at all if its well looked after. There's 230,000 miles on it and its so quiet inside with not a rattle and the leather is immaculate
As for it falling within Bangernomics territory, THAT'S why I now have FOUR cars in the drive. Bought it for €1800! [EDIT]Forgot to add, that it came with NCT until end of Sep, so I'll pop it through again soon once I'm within the 90 day window and also taxed until end of June[/EDIT]
Just wondering how you came across it.
Was it a classified ad, or friend of a friend?
Found it on Donedeal actually. When @littlevillage posted the saloon the other day, I went off looking at what was available with absolutely no intention of buying anything and then saw that advertised. Rang him right away and had a good chat and a couple of hours later I went to see it and brought it home
Surprised that this car is not gone. Maybe all is not kosher. I have noticed that the front bumper has a little bit of overspray on the black bits. I wonder why was the bumper resprayed? Its a 17yro car soo its going to have a few marks but was it soo bad that it needed a respray? or more likely is it a replacement bumper.
New model 2013 Skoda Octavia for €1,500
Very low mileage, only 724,000 kilometres😂

That's amazing mileage isn't it wonder if it's original gearbox and any engine work done.
Wouldn't know anything about diesel engines on Alfas, any good?
God they're pretty. Must be one of the best looking estates ever produced.
Yeah I love design of Alfa's estates, still regret I sold my 158 sportwagon years ago. It was absolute pleasure to drive and great looking car. There's 3.2 petrol saloon for sale on donedeal, would love that one, it's on English plates so not really for this thread, price just over 3k.
The Alfa diesels are a good engine, available in different tunes, ranging from around 120 to 150bhp for the 1.9 version. That's 600 a year tax, so I'm assuming its the 150bhp engine. They tend to be a bit of a tough one to crank, so a good battery and good starter makes all the difference. It's basically a Fiat engine which was used in lots of other cars too along with the Opels and Saabs of same era, but generally speaking the engines are very good and reliable.
I suppose if you've already owned an Alfa you'll be aware that they like to eat the top wishbones, also check for broken window regulators and door lock issues. One thing that's becoming more common now that they get older is the subframe especially on imported UK cars are prone to corrosion.
Video on Drivetribe of the subframe being replaced on a Brera which was built on the same platform. You'll see it around 5 mins in showing how bad they can go
