New Thread to continue discussion for General Premier League. Old thread closed.
Considering what happened yesterday, this is a great headline!
I didn’t realise how many of them now absolutely despise Odegaard
That would infuriate me if I was an Arsenal fan.
Southampton could yet end up the worst Premier league team statistically ever; Derby ended with a goal difference of - 69, Southampton are currently on - 57, but, have 3 really difficult fixtures against Man City at home, then Everton away and finally Arsenal at home on the last day of the season. They could well ship 3 heavy defeats there, enough to end with a worse goal difference; City have picked up form lately and still need to confirm CL spot, Everton's last game at Goodison, so they will want to go out on a high and Arsenal could also inflict a big defeat.
Newcastle are only 2 points behind Arsenal if they win their game in hand tomorrow as well, and play against Arsenal themselves, so 2nd, 3rd, and 4th is actually pretty open between City, Arsenal, and Newcastle.
City with Southampton, Fulham and Bournemouth to come
Arsenal with Liverpool, Newcastle and Southampton
City's games on paper look more winnable, though Arsenal will be playing a Liverpool with nothing to play for I guess
Arsenal play the full team and still lose. Even without injuries Arsenal nowhere near Liverpool this year. They're form since Saka came back has been atrocious in the league. Will be mad if after all the talk Man City finish above them and win a trophy. United or Spurs could end up having a better season as well
Got it.
Would have been a bit harsh, I think. It looked like they were both kind of tangled in the challenge.
it looked like odegard was fouling evanilson. so if the goal was disallowed for handball i just wonder would they have then reviewed for a pen which would have happened before the handball occurred.
How do you mean?
if that evanilson goal is disallowed, does odegard concede a pen?
Well….that is not ideal, they have to make Weds worth that.
Injury time FK
Dont waste the usual few mins
It’s bad enough thay Arsenal have had to play their full team, but to then maybe lose as well isn’t going to be great for morale. I like Evanilson. I think Arsenal could do a lot worse than take a good look at him.
Arsenal will be lucky to get a draw here.
Pathetic defending
What is Odegaard up to at the back post as well ?
VAR check on the way. No handball, at least obviously, but maybe offside.
Goal stands.
Not a single Arsenal player actually jumped for the ball - crazy.
Most obvious equaliser ever
Arsenal want to be wary chasing this one with near 30mins left. Defeat would be damaging, bad injury etc would be worse still
Yeah, fair.
I think PSG rested players last week too, the advantage of having secured the league very early.
Maybe but i'd have rested the key players. Imagine a bad injury to one of them in this game. It would seriously hamper the team for next week. PSV rested their first team according to Shambo.
I think there is an element of maintaining sharpness. If he makes the substitutes around the 60th minute, I'd consider it OK.
Bad decision by Arteta imo. Too much risk of injuries. Would be nearly impossible to miss out on Europe. 3 points in the last 4 games should do it.
think it has to be that they want to secure 2nd. Probably be alright if they don’t get injuries. PSG rested their first XI
Get the game won by ht and bring on the subs might be the logic.
Arteta afraid of not finishing runner up maybe also.
Bit shocked with Arsenal going full strength.
You wouldn't want to have done it during covid!!!!
Ref fell to the ground after been hit with the ball or injured so Vardy ran over and blew his whistle 😂
Omari Hutchinson won't be short of suitors in the summer, impresses me anytime I watch him.
£35m release clause, I think its only Leeds so far that are interested.
Looked it up there and their game against Bournemouth had to be moved because it had been scheduled for the Monday night which wouldn’t have been permitted for a Wednesday night game.
Believe it has to be 3 days.
The one mentioned above against Ajax
