In fairness, there are nuances to the way you eject a person through a window or insert barbed wire into their rectum. Those are the type of nuances Russia does.
Many commentators including Mearsheimer consistently state that NATO/ Ukraine are an existential threat to Russia and Russia perceives it as such
Yes, but these commentators including Mearsheimer are either severely compromised or complete morons who have never looked up the words "existential threat" in a dictionary.
The only threat Ukraine represented to anyone in Russia was the threat of a successful slavic country on their border engaging with the west displaying how much Putin and his coterie have ravaged and destroyed Russia. It is never been anything but a threat to Putin and him alone.
@engineerws "The best help we could give would be to understand the nuances and help negotiate a ceasefire between the warring countries."
What nuances? Russians are mass murderers, they have been since Russia came into existence. The only way to negotiate with them is to kill them.
You are correct (ignoring for a second the “and more” bit of the sentence) but this could be a weekly thing now, remember Biden admin drip dripping 100m here and 100m there before you know it three years passed and a million Russians are dead or wounded and Russia is struggling to capture a pothole in the backarse of nowhere
As usual with Trump admin and senate/congress it’s not about what they claim but what they do
I for one am curious if US oil/gas majors that are very much hurting now have more sway over WH policy than Putin
Mearshiemer?
Wowe we really hitting all the vatnik bingo numbers today
What did Russians accomplish by taking out eyes and organs of that poor journalist, one has to wonder
Im just going to steal a quote from Frasier here...
Engineerws, at Cornell University they have an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the tunneling electron microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building block of our universe. Engineerws, if I were using that microscope right now... I still wouldn't be able to locate any facts or point to your post.
Russia must have lost something big...
Russia knew they were never in danger of being invaded, it was just an excuse to invade Ukraine.
Is it true that most of these rare minerals are in land held by Russia? How are the US/Ukraine going to get them?
The best help we could give would be to understand the nuances
What is the nuance behind a country led by gangsters invading another country?
Many commentators including Mearsheimer consistently state that NATO/ Ukraine are an existential threat to Russia and Russia perceives it as such. As I illustrated previously, Rand wrote about destabilizing Russia via Ukraine.
Again your commentary is one sided, you neglect to mention Kolomoyskyi who backed Zelensky in his election or the corruption exposed within Ukraine recently.

You focus only on Russian corruption.
So, reverting back to the original poster, one may see that choosing an extreme lens through which to view Ukraine or Russia is not really that productive. The best help we could give would be to understand the nuances and help negotiate a ceasefire between the warring countries.
Does not even cover one F16 accidentally falling off the aircraft carrier.
Trump's as likely to swing the other way next week as he is to actually to the morally right thing at any point.
According to a draft of the sanctions bill obtained by Bloomberg, the penalties would include a 500% tariff on imports from any country purchasing Russian oil, petroleum products, natural gas, or uranium
between this and trump driving asset and oil prices into the ground via his gross incompetence Putin is probably regretting it ain’t predictable Biden and Kamala in charge
How bizarre. Even as a propaganda piece, it's totally strange and unpalatable.
€50 million wouldn't load the chamber on two patriots. Chicken feed
Trump just announced a vague “50 million or more” in weapons to Ukraine
I mentioned it in parallel thread but US only imports just under 130 million a year in rare earths
They are neither rare nor valuable, Trump was sold 💩 on a stick and he’s happy, just nod along and say thank you while weapons flow resumes
Maybe he’s about to surprise us all.

NATO was led by the USA up to now. As the USA has effectively changed sides and shows itself no respecter of its former allies, a new North Atlantic defence force will be required.
I very much doubt the weapons flow from the US. Trump hasn't gone through the last few months basically doing everything to America that Putin would wish for only to turn around and destroy Russia. Its not happening. Just like the ceasefire, its smoke and mirrors. It'll still be up to Europe to supply Ukraine. Trump will still claim he owns the minerals and "trillions and trillions of dollars" but nothing will every come of this. I can only see the US trying to access more Ukrainian intelligence and passing it to the Russians.
Oh fantastic, unlimited Korean meat for the grinder
For Ukraine, their defence against Putins illegal invasion, is essential to their very survival. For Putin, the success of his illegal invasion of Ukraine is essential to his and his mafia's survival only, but not to Russia itself. Actually, the Putin regime itself is the biggest threat to the continued existence of the Russian Federation as we know it.
Again more to unpick here.
The war is not "existential" for Russia. It's an invasion of choice for them. They have chosen to invade a country which is no threat whatsoever to nuclear-armed Russia. All of which has nothing to do with Russian security - they traffick thousands of Ukrainian children stolen from their parents, they steal Ukrainian resources, force children in occupied territories to speak Russian. They have helicopters with "onwards to Berlin" written on them. They've moved troops away from the border of the newest NATO member. Even the most indoctrinated Russians know there is no threat.
In complete contrast it is existential for Ukraine. They face losing their country, their democracy, freedom, language, culture, identity, everything. They are being bombed and slaughtered for the crime of being next door to a leader who wants to reshape the map.
In 2014, Putin illegally annexed Crimea and proxy invaded Ukraine. Once again note how to ignore that and go straight to acting "concerned" about Ukrainians defending themselves - again that theme.
This isn't some spat between two countries. A powerful dictatorship is attempting to invade and subjugate and conquer a weaker neighbouring democracy that is no threat to it.
If Russia invaded Ireland in the same manner, would you be repeating this stuff? Of course not.
Also anyone who engages in this much Putin apologism and claims they just "want peace" needs a serious look in the mirror.
The EU did "step up"
But having 2 places step up is better than having 1 place.
In fact only the EU stepped up because the American "support" is a trade deal and not true support like the EU offer.
I look at any minerals deal in the same context of cobalt/copper mining deals in Congo/Rwanda with US/Russian military contractors and a who's who of American billionaires (Gates, Musk, Amazon cnut) up to their eyeballs in exploiting the region and it's people.
Whatever minerals deal is done fcuk all will find it's way to ordinary Ukrainians.
I'd bet security will be private contractor
Lol.
Indeed. However as one poster mentioned earlier, it is somewhat interesting / useful to see when such support for the Kremlin pops up in forums like these. That in itself is a lot more interesting than the content of the posts themselves.
This comes on the heels of news that the US & Ukraine have some kind of minerals deal. Now, I don’t for one second trust Donnie’s «best people» to successfully follow through on any kind of grown-up real-world government work regarding this, but at the very least such a deal will draw everything out while keeping the US in the picture with at least the perception of wanting to defend a local investment in Ukraine. This yet again pushes out the Finish Line for Putin. He really needs Ukraine to fold soon, and today’s news will create the impression that this really won’t happen soon. Certainly not this year, and that is terrible news ahead of his May celebrations. As I often say, time is Putin’s worst enemy here.
So, by all means we should welcome our Kremlin-centric friends when they pop up. It gives us at least a brief indication of the mood in Official Moscow. The more they what-about, and scream for «peace»…the more dour the likely mood in the corridors of the FSB offices.
Whatabout the very same poster having a 180 degree of a position in the parallel mid east related thread My 💩 has stronger integrity and consistency
But but but whatabout something some other country did somewhere else in some other century that is relevant to the current invasion and war by the merest of tenuous threads… surely that's where the real focus should be?
The war is existential for Ukraine and Ukrainian defenders who will be either killed, imprisoned or drafted as meat for Putin's next imperial adventure should Russia prevail.
The war was never existential for Russia, though it may be for Putin and his kleptocracy. The danger was never NATO in Ukraine, it was a prosperous, West facing Ukraine and the prospect of Russians finally waking up to their subjugation by the Kremlin.
If Russians really want peace they'd stay in Russia.
Lol….that depressing
