Your best bet would be to ring around.
They have one for test drive in Wicklow VW.
Interesting situation on SOH of an ID3. Currently on DD- private sale of 2020 UK registered car. Low mileage and is claiming 98% SOH with screen scan included. 5 Yr old car??????? - what do ye think?
Mine was at about 93% at 4.5yrs old with 100k km's on it.
98% seems a bit too good but you'd only be talking about a few percent either way.
When I sold mine it was at 92.5% after close to 100k and 4 years old.
Dropped the car in this morning for the sensor. Surprise surprise they said it was damaged by a stone chip and will cost €360 to repair! Some coincidence. I’ve asked them to send on pictorial evidence of the damage, so we’ll see what I get.
I'm scratching my head on this one. The general theory consensus is that the biggest degradation happens in Yr 1 and is quoted at being upwards of 5%. Thereafter degradation is expected to be minimal at perhaps 1% per year. Therefore you would expect a 5 Yr. old car to be hovering around 90% on average. If the 98% figure is accurate it suggests at least that time based degradation is not a significant factor- also possibly that this is a statistical outlier on the LHS of the degradation population curve. I'd like to see an external test done by Aviloo or similar to confirm (or otherwise) the scan reading provided.
Realistically, this car is only at 98% if you are content to ignore science.
As suggested, an external test is needed.
Similarly, I believe Tesla now list the SoH onscreen, and all I can think is why on earth you’d trust a manufacturer to be fully truthful about this of all things.
My Cupra Born is at 93% independently tested after 2.5 years and 46000 kms, got it done a few months ago.
Never really fast charged and not left sitting at 100% ever, charged to 80% most of the time. Overall treated as well as it should be.
I'll do it again in a year or 2 and see what it says.
But I think 93% is realistic. Only got it done for my own interest, I didn't notice any loss in range or anything.
Well colour me “pleased”. There was damage to one of the sensors. Now for the life of me I can’t understand why the rest of the sensors don’t continue to work if one stops, but that’s a design thing. Sensor swapped out and we’re back on the road.
Did you pay up?
Does anyone know the latest wait times on a new ID3?
I don't trust VW salesmen
Ordered Jan 23rd, arrived at port in Germany on March 25th and expected delivery is end of April.
My order went in end of Feb. Was told 12 weeks. The dealer can't tell you definitively when it will get here at that time. It's just an estimated time because they dont know.
I was put off by an earlier clubsport order I made. Kept getting delayed and the price went up (with hindsight i should have stayed with it). Hopefully that doesn't happen here but it can't be ruled out with what is going on with tariffs coming into play.
I ordered mid-October. Was told build week was week 3 2025. Car wasn’t completed until early March. Took delivery 30 March. YMMV.
I didn't, but it wasn't a simple as "I'm not paying".
It's a long story, but it involves wrong information, pictures, legal threats, 3 or 4 humble pies being eaten by myself, and a massive gesture of good will on their part.
We're all very quick to stick the boot in when it comes to dealers and their shady ways. But this case it was VW Forge Hill in Cork, and their conduct and resolution were exemplary.
There's a lovely King's Red GTX out the side. I'd imagine it's a customer order. They've a grey GTX in the showroom.
For future reference, you can change a sensor yourself for as little as €20
Thanks, that's good to know.
But by the time I'd gotten out there, they'd already swapped it out (which added to my unfounded suspicions), and all that lovely humble pie was waiting for me to consume! 😏
It’s nice alright! Dropped in on the off chance it was mine in early but no such luck.
Yeah, very tasty. Pity there’s no little “PP” badge or something to differentiate the different models.
This is the standard GTX but will I think the differences are internal only. I don’t mind the GTX on the boot but am already considering taking off the GTX on the side panel.
what actually are the main spec differences? I see things like acceleration is pretty negligible
There’s quite a bit for the price difference
wow, that’s a lot of reasonably important/reasonably expensive options - even things like park assist, rear view cam, heated seats, discovery pro, sound system upgrade, ACC, electric memory seats etc etc
so you’re saying I need to persuade spouse to go one step further when we trade our vw PCP golf 🙄!
I mean, you’d have to really. The seats alone for the sake of improving efficiency / reducing range anxiety… just don’t talk about the improved acceleration/ performance that probably negates it.
Resale value will be a good reason.
I knew there was a difference but didn't realise there were that many missing options.
What country does this pricing reference as a matter of interest?
It is from Volkswagen.ie but there prices in the configurator aren’t the on the road price.

I've now had the GTX PP for a week and I have to say, it's amazing. Turns out the Side Assist problem wasn't one. I just took the car on a 240km journey and it worked flawlessly throughout. Also have gotten the hang of the Lane Change Assist. But the implementation of Travel Assist is excellent on ID cars. It is not the case that in order to change lanes manually you have to pull the car out of Travel Assist. I believe that's the case with Autopilot on Teslas and some other cars but it isn't with these. Even while Travel Assist is on, you can just signal (a full signal, not the 3-flash kind) and move the wheel yourself. The car doesn't resist or fight you and Travel Assist just proceeds as normal in the new lane. It's completely seamless with all driver manual functions still operable. Only stepping on the brake takes it out of TA.
VW took a lot of criticism for the software in the pre-facelift models but what is often overlooked is that the software isn't just the infotainment system: it's also the systems controlling the car. For those systems, I think the software has always been first rate with all of the driver assistance systems (with the possible exception of lane assist, which a lot of people don't like) being minimally intrusive, very helpful, and logical. And the infotainment system is now snappy and modern as well.
I like the stealthy aspects of this car. It doesn't really advertise that it's anything different from an ordinary ID.3 since the black-on-black "GTX" badge isn't very visible.
I have not yet put the accelerator to the floor. I'm almost frightened about what would happen. Also haven't spent much time in Sport or Individual mode (to mess with the DCC settings).
Basic auto pilot stops every time you change lanes manually as its the only way to do it. It's annoying as is the phantom breaking which is partially responsible for my other half not using it at all. Phantom breaking isn't that common but it is concerning for some when it happens.
Travel assist sounds like enhanced autopilot but better. Enhanced autopilot is 3,800 last time i checked..
What colour of car and wheels did you go for?
